I think St Anger was good for metallica. they had done the 80's metal seen, gone with quite a mainstream metal sound with the black album, then got into the bluesy metal of load/reload. This album is just pure crunchy riffing, emotion etc etc. at least it shows they are willing to try new things as opposed to sticking to the same old formula

it doesnt mean st.anger is different that it sucks.. its not there best but man thers a lot of energy in that album

St. Anger was a good album. Lyrics were good.. vocals were pretty good.. guitar was good.. But the sound they had goin for the drums SUCKED.
