@griffonstink the kids learned so much on this project. Without Sony's help, none of this would have happened. It costs a lot of money to get a rocket off the ground. It's quite a process. The kids had so much to learn in such a short amount of time. Sony merely helped this happen.

From model rockets to real rockets, and who knows, maybe these kids will not go to space or work in the space program, but they will learn about propulsion systems, aerodynamics, computer control systems, and from these experiences they may learn new processes, they may take it to the next level, who knows! And it does say something that they were able to do this with commonly-available materials, for a high school class -- while we view this as "old" because we're Americans, we forget that 95% of other nations haven't even achieved this much.

@GozerTheGozerian I agree I am a highschool student and a member of a number of High powered Rocket clubs but Ive never launched anything above 100,000 feet. But for someone my age to go to 368,000 feet... thats really something. it CAN be done, but its not easy. even the 20-100k rockets I build as an AeroPac member are difficult at times and they all have unique challenges. This Hobby and career is NOT for the faint of IQ. I belive I speak For all the High Powered Rocketeers out there.
