I have been looking for this since I first heard Kenny Everett play it on his Radio 2 show in the early 80's. Needless to say he took the piss out of it. I still remember him saying, " you've got to love the line 'The smell of cotton kinda gets under your skin'. Its so bad, its brilliant. Thanks for posting it.

I remember that this was produced by Stockport Council around 1980 and was supposed to be a promotional song to bolster the town's image. Not sure if it worked, perhaps if they'd asked Frank Sinatra it might have been better
