  • Fantastic advert, which has brought the meaning of life back to the very basics and makes the human race who is becoming busier by the minute look ridiculous.

  • love this add

  • 1:14 I can feel that, I can do alot of things, but I don't do any of them well. I love this ad and not just for road safety

  • I think you're all missing the point...this is not about driving cars. This is about slowing down your life to a natural pace. Not RACING all the freaking time. I have a burnout...this message is very important to you all. Please listen.

  • Laws are created by politicians who are not smart enough to create solutions. So why don't they leave it up to scientist/engineers to create inbuilt safety mechanisms into cars and enforce the manufactures to comply, instead of the citizens having to fork the bill and put up with the continues aftermath and be told what bad citizens we are.

    Thanks for reading.

    Honorable Citizen

  • Good bit of propaganda.

They should discuss root cause analysis of the issues they touch on. Why we have as a society developed multiple diseases and health conditions, which are purely manifested from our immediate environments, that are formulated by greed and corrupt governments and corporations and the impacts they have had physiologically and psychologically, thus the end affect is "speeding" (in some cases) in motorists (Short version) lol.

    Continued to next post

  • Wow, a driving PSA that doesn't include a mass of twisted metal illuminated by police lights followed by a policeman's brow beating.

  • but i fucking love going 100+mph it feels great

  • oh wow an ad I actually SAW ON TV! fuck yeeeewww cunt prawns

  • One of the best PSAs I've ever seen. Wow.

  • Someone gave me the same speech about sex... "it's not a race, slow down" :(

  • OR you could buy a motorcycle and haul ass everywhere. That's pretty enjoyable.

  • Great ad- notice the trophy cabinet at 0:12 is at Subiaco oval (West Coast Eagles reception area). Wouldnt work so well with the Dockers trophy cabinet..... :)

  • Great ad - great principles. As soon as I saw this on tv I knew we (Perth drivers) were in for trouble!

Special note and attention must be paid to the voice over at 2:07

    "One follows the speed limit"

and yet there is a contradictory statement at the end that is pretty much now the slogan. ie. "Slow down and enjoy the ride"

And that's exactly what people have done! slowed the right !%# down!

I don't care if you drive 50km/h on the freeway and hold up traffic...just don't do it in the right lane!

  • It'd be nice to be able to make 3 minute adverts like this. Very lucky team to get this brief and opportunity.

  • Minute 2:50 ...where is the girls seatbelt???

  • the most effective ad i've ever seen. and its not just a bout driving. its about life in general.

  • So pretty much this whole ad is anti speeding if you speed you have diseases cancers and sexual dysfunctions?

Well fk me I guess whole of Europe is dead because they "speed".

  • This was pretty cool but I'm not quite sure what it's advertising. Breathing or driving slower?

  • @MegaGrumbly being peaceful in general :)

  • Brought to you by your insurance companies, and car manufacturers.

  • and you are now all consciously breathing...

  • I can tell you now I feel pretty shitty, disappointed and ashamed...

Now you maybe quick to comment judgement but know this... you don't know how it feels, no-one does not my friends not my family not you, no-one... and i'm praying you never do

This is by far one of the greatest anti-speeding ads of all time.

  • This is by far one of the greatest anti-speeding ads of all time. I live with the trauma of being both the victim and the vilian of speed driving, I live everyday with the physical injuries sustained when i was struck from behind by a driver doing close to double the speed limit and also live the the mentral anguish of knowing that someone out there is suffering from very similar injuries under very simlar circumstances except i was the one speeding...you now I fe

  • Inspiring!

  • CRAVE FATTY AND SUGARY FOODS AWWW YEAAAA

  • lol can nobody be serious on the internet, even with something like this? (top comments)

  • well fuck you, i got a sport bike and speed every second i could and i am happy as fuck. Im addicted to speed.

  • Aussie Ads are great

  • It sounded like he said "take it all in, until you're flooded with cum."

  • Wow started out great then turned into a FUCKING speeding bull shit.

  • @adrianheink So...you tend to disregard the good aspects of things because you want to be defiant to a valuable message?

  • @0andrewsmith0 Uhhh no man, fine message don't think people should speed but it could have been about a real problem instead of this. If you can't see that i feel sorry for you.

  • @adrianheink Speeding isn't a problem? Also, your pity holds no weight on the internet buddy. I can't even figure out what you would "feel sorry for".

  • @0andrewsmith0 haha

  • That's a PSA done right.

  • I... Thought they were all going to crash at the end =/

  • DO NOT SHOW THIS TO AMBULANCE DRIVERS!

  • It would be nice to slow down. Unfortunately, I live in the US. We typically don't get large vacations like our European brothers.

  • Weed emphesized this for me a little.

  • Brilliant brilliant video,.congratulations WA Office of Road Safety. The message is not just about driving either, but live generally. Slow down, live longer.

  • @dukezone69 I agree. I loved this ad the first time I saw it. It really speaks to Aussies to make more of life and not to get stuck in the rat race. I love it :)

  • South Africa shows footage of real car accidents as their ads

  • This commercial makes you feel relaxed every time you watched it. Incredible...

  • The last few seconds were the slowest, most calm electoral matter authorisation notice I've ever heard.

  • i was calm until I saw that THEY ARE DRIVING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!!!!!

  • Silly Americans...

  • @GoodTimeCharliesBand

Not if you live in Australia!!! Maybe you don't read?

  • @GoodTimeCharliesBand RIGHT side of the road!

  • I really dont know why this video has only so many views... This video according to me is Life changing. atleast for me. I own a bike...

You know you had the chance when you had seen this video 10 years ago... no point regretting now....

So slow down... Enjoy the ride.

  • Love this ad.

  • Comment removed

  • this would be an awesome commercial for life in general if it stopped 2 minutes in.

  • Comment removed

  • An even better alternative - get a bike :) Or ride the bus and hit on the pretty girl next to you ;)

  • @2.03 the guy at the top (the speeder) is a teacher at my school... o.O

  • @meganjenniferr1 what was that teachers name? i can remember...

  • You know the best bit about this ad? The end bit, where they'd usually garble the "Authorised by the State Government..." - they leave a nice big gap before "Perth" - I think that's intentional because usually it's so fast.

  • The “driving with the speed limit” theory only applies and is successful when the world is perfect: no one speeds, no one goes on yellow or red, no one talks and drive, no one texts and drive and the list is endless. So speeding, thus being more alert, helps for the well being of all, not just one. We are a team aren’t we? There is the other side to this story of course but this is best.

  • @lakers8888 except for the fact that speeding is illegal and it puts others at risk as your braking distance is longer, so if someone pulls out infront of you or if someone steps out onto the road, you have less time to react dispite being more alert.

  • @specdecible well these are some arguments that fall under the other side of the story, as I mentioned at the end of my comment. well you have to take in consideration every outcome and scenario. If you do, I believe that my side will weigh more. This is basically what I tried to show with my comment. About the legal issue, I believe it is very complicated to get into so I'm not.

  • @lakers8888 the safest way is to drive the same way everyone else is, accidents happen when people do things that they shouldn't be doing or by doing something different to everyone else on the road. So for example if your on a freeway where everyone is driving 120 while the speed limit is 100, safest is to drive at 120. But on the same freeway if everyone is driving 100, it is not safer to drive at 120.

  • @specdecible well this point doesn't really contradict my point I think

  • If you speed you will be: more awake, more aware of the ongoing events, you will notice more clearly who is turning where etc. (it’s obviously a good idea to know is the person driving next to you is talking or texting) The latter helps to avoid accidents and its aftermaths.

  • I had to split this comment in parts. Well thanks for liking my comment people. I was watching my favorites and watched this video again. I finally found the flaw to this video, for the driving part at least. Here goes: If you drive the speed limit: you will be worry free, not caring where others drive, not watching left and right too quickly, basically not paying attention to the ongoing events in the roads (which we should).

  • Faramir is right, chill out guys!

  • I did some breathing this morning.

  • nice work Corrie :)

  • Someone mildly important must have been killed in a car accident lately... politician's relative I'm guessing..

  • What is this sh1t. What are they selling? Who are they conditioning.

Craig Lowndes, Garth Tander, Jason Bright, should slow down too then...

to a crawl. Lets have the V8 supercars lose 4 cylinders and race at 50-60kph.

Live your life, ignore this psychogical manipulation paid for at the tax-payers

expense that will not put off speeders / hoons one iota...

  • @shades2 To suggest this ad is aiming to slow down the sport of car racing and specifically V8 supercars is not only stupid and illogical but its flat out incorrect. V8 supercars are specifically modified to cope with excessive speeds through numerous safety features. Features your (and most peoples) cars dont have. I must also correct another misconception you have about the funding of this commercial. All funding for these ads come from speed and red light camera fines, not tax payers money.

  • @bartholomewh I see you are taking me far too seriously. What is your source regarding the funding though?

I think you'll find most accidents and many fatal accidents are not the result of excessive speed. I"m not saying it doesn't play a part in the outcome, but it is often not the actual cause.

I dislike the fact they spent 3:00 minutes preaching to the public, when that money may have been better spent improving the roads, and improving driver eduction for new P platers at risk.

  • @shades2 u do realize they are not preaching about speeding but rather lifes road and how not to rush it

  • @WarnDawg101 Which is why the Road Safety Council are paying for the ad. It's about road safety. Not about taking it easy and cruising through life... check again.

  • Great reframing of speeding, and appropriate message for life. I love it.

  • what's the song name starting at 2:04 ?

  • i liked how the split scene where the guy is driving fast/slow was on lake monger drive. that stretch of road is 60kmh and so many people get done because it feels like it should be a 70kmh road.

  • i liked how the scene where the guy is driving fast/slow was on lake monger drive. that stretch of road is 60kmh and so many people get done because it feels like it should be a 70kmh road.

  • Well done on such a beautifully shot and well executed campaign. By far the best road safety or public awareness advertisement to date. I hope it rolls out Australia wide and changes the attitude of motorist.

  • Well done on such a beautifully shot and well executed campaign. By far the best road safety or public awareness advertisement to date.

  • What a beautiful concept. Hope it rolls out nationally and wins lots of awards, haven't seen a great ad like this in a long time.

  • Just what I keep telling people around me. :) Many of the lines in the narrative, I use myself as a guide map for a life of happiness. Feels like a kindred soul has written this commercial. Cheers! Hope we bump into each other.

  • Sorry, but I just can't enjoy the ride anymore. Relentless speed enforcement coupled with stupid speed limits, congested roads, and pedestrians who don't want to accept responsibility for their own safety have spoiled the fun for me.

  • @58manwell Mate, you're an idiot

  • @AndoInAus Brilliant comeback! I am dazzled by your enlightened and forceful rhetoric. Bravo! You have convinced me of my foolishness and wickedness - and all in just 4 words. The spelling and grammar is perfect as well!

  • @58manwell Well said.

  • ill show my boss this video next time im late for work.

  • @BIGMACBURGER PLEASE record it!

  • The video was really good - until it became yet another propaganda film by a state government to justify the immoral and insufficient methods to ensure road safety.

There is NOTHING here about any other problem on the roads caused by oblivious morons who do not speed but are NEVER picked up on driving habits that can be deemed to be far more dangerous. I am not condoning speeding - I am condemning marketing people and governments who focus on one aspect of a far larger problem.

  • @Matt51F1 because this is the easiest to enforce. Its the same everywhere. If they could use a camera to detect tired drivers, drunk drivers or tailgaters they would use them, but they havent so they bother with the one thing they can easily control, speeding. Speeding isnt the be all and end all of death on our roads. Here in ipswich 5 people died on the weekend and none were from speeding. There was a red light runner who killed 3, 2 died on a motorcycle that crossed into oncoming traffic

  • This is a fantastic ad not only about speeding but life in general.

It hit a cord with me!!

    Well done!!

  • @TheLindyloo03 I have to agree, especially the bit about breathing and all that. But despite the quality of the ad, you know something, I love flying. And driving/riding faster than some bureaucrat believes is warranted due to political reasons. And I have never had an accident where anyone alse was even scratched. That includes about 20 years of flying, and over 40 years of driving. I am nearly 53. And yes, I started driving early. On a farm.

  • this is the best road safety ad I have ever seen. Makes me so proud that it was done by the WA government

  • Awesome ad - just hope the idiots on the road actually listen and take note.

  • @AndoInAus The only idiots i see on the road are those who believe that everyone else should drive perfectly and never make an error, because they can't handle the fact that drivers are human beings. Small minded people are like that, dont you agree?

  • @58manwell Speeding & reckless driving aren't an "error" - they're a conscious decision made by the fool behind the wheel. If you want to speed, do it on a race track away from the roads where you're only risking your own life. Sure - we all make errors... that's how accidents happen - but people endangering the lives of road users by weaving, cutting people off and tailgating are just complete morons that need their head read!

  • That is a brilliant ad, after years of the shock ads, that really hits the mark. Wow, a road safety campaign that treats people like adults.

  • Bravo! An excellent ultra short film about enjoying life at the right pace. I know I want to slow down and experience life for what it is now, and not focus so much on where I want to be. Cheers to that and thanks for the ad.

  • Wow! Finally a government Ad that seems to make sense because you talk to us, instead of just showing a crash scene or 'known' outcome. Very stealthful. Nice production quality. Proud to be a Perthite, and feel like watching my speed after seeing this. Cheers.

  • I didn't feel the need to speed in south australia. But we need it in Victoria.it's a great ad with a powerful, important, practical teachings for life as a journey.it's like one of those great movies but short and sweet.well done for those who made it.This is what Im trying to practice all the time, the present moment by slowing life down so that I can handle it better when I need to speed it up.

    Nash

  • what if i like racing

  • @Bonerific0 Go to a track.

  • @Canceroth Nope just observant, but was mainly joking lighten up.

True but a highway patrol officer should be able to see who is capable and who is not and what are the circumstances (road, environment etc) its key not to paint everyone with same brush and have common sense judging people in these situations.

  • yes lets all go the same speed as retirees thats what we need more time sitting in traffic because all of the idiots who you have half taught to drive leave a 10 car gap at 40 km an hour.s i as a western australian am against any more increases in harsh penalties .it is unnecessary ...people will have accidents no matter what you do ...you have reached a severe threshold now on penalties ..i will vote for less penalties. politicians are you reading?stop your social engineering

  • yes lets all go the same speed as retirees thats what we need more time sitting in traffic because all of the idiots who youve half taught to drive leave a 10 car gap at 40 ks an hour. im sick of you bastards i as a western australian am against any more increases in harsh penaltys .it is unnesecary ...people will have accidents no matter what you do ...you have reached a severe threshold now on penalties ..i will vote for less penalties. polititians are you reading?stop your social engineering

  • Awesome video, but police still defect vehicles or pull you over when your driving casually, So no matter what you do or what the government says you should do the Police will do another.

  • ...so powerful !

  • @Canceroth jesus! sexual dysfunction and other conditions are not side-effects of driving fast. they are side effects of living fast! the pace of living has changed so much, everything is faster and that has a giant impact on your body that you are not even aware of. it says right there in the info about the video: "here is an alternative to speeding -- on the road and in life. And it's a better way." you can't agree with the ad, because you didn't understand it.

  • i really liked it... :D good job people :) i'll listen to it every day... to remind me to think twice

  • Comment removed

  • love this. totally inspiring. actually changed how i drive.

  • TLDR.

    Ok, I actually enjoyed it.

  • Saying speeding results in sexual dysfunction and a bowel condition is a bit of a strech, I'd say.

  • @davechrz They are saying the fast pace of life can contribute to those things and that slowing down, even if it's just whilst you're driving, may help your body to deal better with stress.

  • Respond to this video... they saying that slowing down will help your body to deal with stress better. Not that speeding is the cause.

  • Well done.

  • We should really slow down.. but that guy in the clip who is driving a little bit faster has fewer chances to crash because he always looks in the rearview mirror unlike second bloke, who is obviously high

  • How beautifully narrated ... thank you for making this video ... I will enjoy the ride tonight :)

  • Comment removed

  • Driving is a pleasure, so is speed!

  • That girl at 00:09 has an INCREDIBLE bum! Wow! On a more serious note, this Video has made change my entire driving style and lifestyle completely! and i live in South Africa. Great stuff guys!

  • Wow Man, is this the Best Video i have run into in youtube! Indeed it is.

  • the person that wrote the words of this commercial is a genius. he/she is either really old or young and really smart. either way i want to meet him.

  • Well done!

  • A+

  • Really nice TVC. Love the feel and the message gets through. I think you should be uploading the HD version of it as well though. I think there needs to be an extension to these Road Safety campaigns though around what the road rules actually are, not just focus on the speed. The stress that people get when driving, are more attributed to crap inconsiderate drivers than they are about general life's stress. A campaign to re-surface the basics (merging, keep left, roundabounds etc) should be next

  • I love this video. I was listening to it in my car doing 90.

  • boring

  • This video is okay, but it doesn't hold a candle to the previous ad — that one was powerful.

As an admitted speeder (because it's fun, not because I'm tense, I can empathize with the "slow down" message, but slowing down also means staying to the right and out of the passing lane. At least in North America, people don't know how to properly follow the rules of the road and end up boxing everyone behind them like a funeral procession. Keep right unless to pass!

  • I would rather speed then stare at the ass end of a Ford Explorer with soccerball stickers for 20km

  • @cumaroz28 what your saying is that you'd rather die than drive slowly for 20 kms. which no one really cares about if you die or not. But that Explorer could have kids in it, and they could potentially die too. all because of your impatience.

  • @zackandlime A few k's more a few k's less it wont be the end of the world for anyone, tarmac is tarmac grip is grip it doesn't change due to what a sign says, being able to read the roads conditions under the circumstances is key. An experienced driver in a performance built car wont have any trouble driving a bit over the limit enthusiastically. Keep in mind speed limits are made for the worst driver in the worst car (indian women in an 88 camry)

Top ad and good to see a dif angle on da issue.

  • Great ad

  • EnjoyTheRideWA, Do you have any information on who composed the song? If it was a commission are we able to get a copy if the opportunity arises?

  • Authorized by the state government, perv

  • We get so caught up on focusing on what we think we have to do in the future, that we lose sight of the present. We lose the ability to live in the now. We lose the ability to enjoy living in the now. littleroro.blogspot.com/2011/03/enjoy-ride.html

  • simply beautiful.

  • Slow down and enjoy the ride. Love this ad.

  • Please oh please oh please get this kind of stuff into Queensland. I'm nearly 16 and will be going for my learners, and all my life have been bombarded with anti-speeding and anti-this anti-that campaigns. I only remember a few, mostly because I like advertising so much. I've always hated how the commercials just say that if you speed, you get caught. Tough shit. But no one has ever looked into why people speed, and the meaningless of it. This is just brilliant, well done.

  • @wikiwama Sorry to disappoint you, but there is a reason why many people speed, and it is because they want to be safe. Confused? It has to do with the fact that we perform best when we are optimally stimulated. Too slow driving bores and frustrates us. Too fast scares and tenses us. For example, race drivers, fighter pilots or heart surgeons can remain calm under high levels of stress and continue to perform well. Yet they can't drive on the road any faster, can they?

  • @58manwell True, yes. But here we can't driver faster, and if a few people do then they put everyone else, and themselves, at risk. The speed limit is put there (mostly) for a reason. By driving faster it does make you concentrate more, but there's a hugely increased margin for error and by speeding when the roads, traffic and conditions don't allow for it is why so many people die. Wake up to yourself.

For the record, I read Wheels and think that better roads + higher speed limits can be good.

  • @wikiwama You may not be able to drive faster, but do you also believe that Craig Lowndes is not capable of exceeding the speed limit safely? Speed limits were based on the 85th percentile rule, but now they are often determined on political reasons like local complaints, or to appease the various anti-car lobbies. Driver skill and consciousness are the keys to safety. While we continue to be fooled by government propaganda, the real killers will continue unopposed.

  • @58manwell I completely agree, especially that the government feeds us bullshit about speed cameras, or what are now "safety cameras."

I think it's probably a good idea if speed limits are raised, but the fact is most of the roads, not to mention the drivers, couldn't actually handle those speeds because of the amount og bullshit we've been feed as a nation, as well as the extreme lack of driver training, which is why I will take a driver training course before I get my full licence.

  • @58manwell There is an alternative, try driving at the speed limit but only using your knees to steer the car! It definitately keeps you on your toes.

  • I get all those problems at 0:52 when I go too slow. Plus, different people have different paces.

  • I enjoy my rides... but not in a Prius.

  • wtf? DORKY

Australia has anti-speeding PSAs on its tv?? I don't think I've EVER seen one of those here in the states.

  • @whoo689 Yeah, and your accident figures show how well that's going for you. You need them.

  • Congratulations on a thoughtful and well made campaign, this is much more convincing than a photo of a dead body splattered all over the road plastered across a billboard. This highlights the positive things in life. Only one problem, just yesterday i was fined one street from my house doing 62 in a 60 zone. I was in a new beautiful car i'd just begun working on, it was still cold so i was driving slowly letting it warm up in the fresh air and sunshine. The only problem is, it was a 50 zone.

  • This is pretty mellow compared to Northern Irish adverts on road safety...

  • @MarcoAmane Australian adverts used to be much more gory than this, but apparently people started switching off and they weren't having much effect anymore.

  • @wuzzlevideos Oh right I see, to be honest, i'd rather watch one of these adverts... Because the northern irish ones are awful...

  • I did the whole Breathing thing about 4 times today :) i love just standing at the window that's open, closing my eyes and just... breathing for a few seconds. Its just turned spring here in England and you can really smell clean sweet sent of new season air :)

  • Fantastic ad. About time the people who commission these realize that generating fear and making threats of punishment simply doesn't work. Beautifully shot too.

  • I hope the man who pressed the Dislike button did it accidentally.

  • Love it. A great message encouraging us all to drop down a gear. Amazing ad.

  • What a load of tosh! Don't buy into that crap! Should we all sedate ourselves to be drooling couch potatoes? No thanks! As a matter of fact, rushes of adrenaline you get from driving a car or riding a bike on a windy road gives you healthy in mind, soul and body. The key is to know WHERE and WHEN to enjoy the thrills of speed. Waging a war on speed altogether is a narrow minded approach. Speed never killed anybody. It's having to stop very quickly that gets you! Jeremy Clarkson, help me out!

  • Great add i have seen in a long time

what are your reactions to it?

  • Well done WA!

  • Absolutely fantastic.

  • I spent the entire ad wanting him to hurry up and get to the point.

  • Yeah I had the same reaction, pity some of the message is lost when your brain is distracted wondering why she's not wearing a seatbelt. Perhaps her hair is *just* covering the belt. It would be great to see this air on Perth telly.

  • @MX5WesternAustralia It did air on Perth telly and state-wide for that matter on Sunday night. It will again this Sunday. And the girl is certainly wearing a seatbelt.

  • 8 Seconds in. Hot piece of a...

  • Thats it, im not doing a shit of work today.
