I think for live performances, it wouldn't matter. Especially if it's just similar. Even popular artists get away with ripping off other popular songs for their hit singles. Like, have you noticed how similar the chorus of Kelly Clarkson's "Miss Independent" sounds to those backup singers on Depeche Mode's "Come Undone"? I have. This song's not popular enough, anyways. Though it should be. The point is, you're okay.
