Wow! I have been searching the internet for years for this cartoon! i watched the VHS a million times as a kid and was beginning to think it didn't exist and it was just a dream. I'm so glad to have come across this video, brings back so many memories! Would you be able to possibly upload the whole movie? I'd love to see it again!

gods I forgot about this! I remember watching it when I was but a wee boy. lol I was such a huge fan of all things Rankin/Bass. I didn't know that they were behind so many things I loved until I was older of course. But to this day I love to throw in the DVD of their The Hobbit/Return of the King adaptations, for The Last Unicorn, or during the holidays their many Christmas classics (especially Rudolf). Thanks for bringing this one back to my memory!

I get this confused with the cartoon series TALES OF THE WIZARD OF OZ - the animation looks almost the same.

i got it from amazon for £12 its called return to oz television special, its date is 1964. amazon have 7 copys left, its american so you have to buy it and when you get it make a backup copy with your pc and then it will play in your pal dvd player. (using the backup copy to watch it)

I saw a DVD last year that had the ENTIRE 162 (I believe) episodes from the original tv show--now I cannot locate the site. I used to watch it as I child, and wish I knew where to purchase it.

this is the best film of return to oz as its the real second one. i loved this as a child and ive finally found it on dvd, im waiting for it to arrive. its pretty rare and not many people know its out there. i want to one day play this for my children as it kept me entitained for hours. great work puttin it on the web. brings back alot of memorys :)

i hate this movie. its the wizard of oz all over again! she wants to go back, her freinds look for their brains, courage, and hearts AGAIN, Dorothy goes to the wizard AGAIN, she needs to kill the witch AGAIN, she goes to munchkinland AGAIN

I believe the animation in this special was outsourced to Canadian studio Crawley Films, like the 1961 "Tales of the Wizard of Oz" series was.

Yep! This video has many purposes. It lets you know this is out there, it shows it's on DVD now, it lets you see a preview, and this will be covered in the next episode of Wonders (so it's kind of a trailer for that, too), and it lets you know where some of the songs I used in Wonders come from.
