  • remember the adventure of kon tiki 1947, so amazing journey to polynesia

  • mon adolescence!!!!!ça fait un bail!

  • Instrumental or vocal, this has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever. What made Shadows great was the rhythm playing of Bruce Welch.

  • Dilwich is 'a very basic prat'

  • dilwich? dimwit. Marvin is a world class guitarist. Ask Jimmy Page....

  • Marvin has a guitar that talks to you and it says 'im a very basic player'.

  • @dilwich123 Rubbish, Hank Marvin is a guitar legend,

  • May I recommend the book 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man. The author is a big fan of this fine instrumental.

  • Young boys in the park, playing football, Strats for goalposts, endearing image.... wonderful, wasn't it ?

  • This music brings back very pleasant memories of my youthful days. I will never forget the thrill of gliding with my female partners on the dance floor. Has there been another lead guitarist as good as Hank? I don't think so! The world will be poorer when our generation passes away.

  • BEST MUSIC ~

  • typical fender stratocaster sound, agreed?

  • @BudgieV8 he didn't write the song.

  • solid...awesome

  • @BudgieV8 Kon-tiki was one of many songs written by prolific song-writer Michael Carr. There are many examples of mistakes in songs recorded in the 60s simply because it was not economical to put them right. Studio time was very expensive and the whole song would have to be re-recorded. Nowadays, mistakes can be rectified digitally in seconds, which is why you do not hear any mistakes on records these days.

  • @Mr3sheds

indeed. and this stuff was recorded on two track and mono direct, real time, and the pressure on artists was often unbearable. no overdubs. they were working at the time on a one-song-per-day basis.

  • one of there best

  • really great number...masters

  • My second favourite just behind Wonderful Land

  • Amazing!!

  • LE groupe qui m'a fait découvrir et aimer la guitare électrique... il y a bien plus de 30 ans ! Déterminant pour la suite ! MERCI !

  • What a trip.

  • I wonder the guy with the glasses what's his name???

  • @taolapro321phe Hank D. Marvin !!

  • @taolapro321phe

That's Hank B. Marvin. He's the lead guitarist of the Shadows

  • My dad love this band :D!!!!

  • deep tune

  • jet harris's greatest contribution is this bassline!

  • In that blessed year 1961 you could score a #1 hit with a wrong note (at 1.05).

    What a wonderful tune though.

  • @hagst27 I'm no expert but 1:05 sounds fine to me.....

  • @connect2012 : Hey, there's a sharp D that shouldn't be there!

Ré# au lieu de ré tout court !

  • @hagst27 Ok I'll take your word for it :-)

  • @hagst27 hank makes mistakes on man of mystery and the savage as well. still very good for a 20 year old. or whatever he was.

  • @hagst27 In 2011 you can score a #1 hit by saying you want to have sex.

  • @faabbii

    how sad is that? :(

  • @psychobollox Yes, you're right. It's very sad.

  • @faabbii

    *nods*

  • @faabbii

very true, The industry is very corrupt nowadays, search THE MUSIC INDUSTRY EXPOSED

  • @SmokeIronlak

Ok. I will check it out sometime ;). Thanks.

  • @faabbii you fucking idiots i'm tired of you talking about sex

  • @HigherOXYD Thanks man.

  • @hagst27 I was the lead guitarist of the "Windows", a Shadows cover band in Europe from 1980 - 85. We played all those great tunes and I was always tempted to include the little mishap on stage. In 82, I met Hank Marvin during a TV recording in Baden Baden. Between shoots, Hank and I spent all afternoon together in the artist lounge. Melanie was also there. She had her acoustic guitar with her and 'made' us sing songs with her. It was a wonderful day!

  • @flwolf2000 You are lucky and blessed to have had that experience .

  • ez a shadows legjobb száma,hallgatása közben mintha előtte lenne az embernek az óceán rajta a kon tiki és thor heyerdahl

  • Thanks ,what a fantastic beautiful masterful display of guitar playing.their songs will live on through the ages.

  • One of their coolest records. Love it.

  • It is indeed a best of Shadows!
