  • I'm about to be thirteen and I got diagnosed when I was eight. But I have always had the symptoms since I was about 4! But every one said I was too young to have something like it so i has to deal with it almost all my life with no treatment. After four years of being diagnosed I'm felling a lot better!! I had a colonoscopy and they found a bunch of alcures .. It runs in my family

  • i have crohns and i have a mild case of the disease and it disables me at least once a month for days because of flair up's .. this video is true but how can she say the medication really works it is down to the disease when when flair ups happen and no medicine can stop it this has to be made clear i am sick of hearing this rubbish about medication.

in my experience the medication i was given did not do a thing

i took mezevant xl and had flair ups i stopped taking it had flair up's

  • @mguruj I'm feeling the same way, I have it for about six years(22) now. and I can live with the pain but my energy level is close to zero and all I do is wonder what I could do to improve my situation but even doctors wont/ cant tell me what to do

  • Cron's symptoms can be chronic. Professor John Hermon-Taylor of Saint George's University of London, is appealing for help to fund the final stages of development of a new Cron's caccine, with is now ready to proceed to human clinical trials. Cron's is related to MAP. For more information contact professor John Hermon-Taylor, St. George's University of London, Cranmer Terrace LONDON, SW17 ORE

  • Thank you for sharing your story! It really is good to hear a personal point of view.

  • Crohn's disease is very managable, but when you lose control. It breaks people

  • @Arbitor2 Perhaps you have been lucky enough to only be affected very mildly by your illness?

I've witnessed first hand the intense pain and discomfort that Crohn's disease can cause in its sufferers and it certainly has nothing to do with weakness.

I hope for your sake that your illness never progresses to a stage where you may be forced to eat your words.

  • @Brettmanscoop Actually i have a preety bad case of crohns....... if yo say i have a very mild case then you are really wrong...... If people like this consider this as pain then again they must be pussies

  • @Brettmanscoop abd you also said youve witnessed firsthand the intense pain.......

Well ive experienced this so called "pain"

  • @Arbitor2 i have crohns and i was diognosed when i was 10 know one in my family had it know im 12 and now its gone. ive been off medication for 421 days. in my opinion its all abput diet.

  • @EBgreen98 hmm you type like your 12 so i guess your on par.

  • @Arbitor2 Are you Stupid ? My brother has Crohn's which was so severe that he ended up in ICU on a life support machine and the surgeon didn't think he would make it, his bowel burst open from all the damage that Crohns had done to his bowels! Then after surgery he caught a life threating infection due to his immune system being so weak from the Crohn's !! he was bleeding so bad from the rectum he had to have 3 blood transfusion's ! Now tell me its not fucking serious you stupid twat !!

  • @Arbitor2 I was diagnosed 6 months ago and haven't been able to leave the house since. I shit 4-8 times a day and if i'm not close to the bathroom i will shit myself. You can see how this makes being in a car, even for 10 minutes, very difficult. I have not had a solid shit since last christmas. But i guess your right thats not a big deal.

  • @Arbitor2 Extremely disrespectful... I was dropped to the floor in unfathomable pain, my entire GI tract shut down--on 2 occasions. Emergency surgery took 12 inches from my small intestine. I won't go into more detail, because I don't feel you are worth telling. And God willing, you will be lucky enough to feel the pain and see your life turned upside down because of the utmost disrespect and self-ignorance you have shown. Then might you eat your words.... I truly hope you will be humbled soon.

  • @Arbitor2 Oohh stop with your tough guy macho bullshit. You beaners have guts of steal. I mean if your people can thrive off of polluted water and refried beans, a little Crohn's is like having to fart. Don't brag about an evolutionary trait that's similar to a cockroach.

  • @jlmmyhoffa And you stop with your British "OH SO MUCH PAIN" bullshit. Stop being a pussy

  • @Arbitor2 FUCK U HOW WOULD U KNOW ITS NOT THERE FAULT LEAVE US BRITISH ALONE U CRAZZY AMERICAN BASTARDS IF THERE IN PAIN THERE IN PAIN LEAVE THEM ALONE WITH THERE DISEASE U FUCKING BASTARD!

  • @Arbitor2 Crohn's Disease is a VERY painful thing to have!! The pain varies, according to how bad yours is! In my case, mine is very severe, and the doctor's said it was one of the worst they had seen at the hospital! I know its awful pain! You should thank God that you either don't have it, or have a very mild case of it, if you think it doesn't hurt so bad!!

  • @Arbitor2 You are insane. It is a very painful thing to have, and to always have to be a stones throw from a restroom is no fun either. I just came off of a flare up. I lost 15 lbs. I was sick, in pain, ended up with a catheter in due to the inflammation affecting my bladder and I had to be given potassium at the ER due to my levels dropping so low from not being able to eat. It is a VERY painful thing to go through for many.

  • Geez, compared to everyone else I hardly even have Crohn's. I guess I lucked out.

  • I have had Crohn's disease for 7 years. I recently started taking IntestiFlora7 a natural dietary supplement with 7 probiotics and it has been wonderful.

  • I have Crohn's disease, and I wouldn't wish on ANYONE!!! It's not fun, but you just gotta keep the faith and believe that there will be a cure someday. I really enjoyed this video, and every other video that raises more awareness of this disease. Thank you :)

  • I was diagnosed with Crohn's Colitis 10 years ago this February and the symptoms were like hell for the first 3 years and persisted for a further 4 years. Until I worked out, which this video wrongly remarks on, that diet makes all the difference.

Truth of the matter is find out what works for you. But diet is the key ingredient - and pun intended! The cure is in the pudding.

Stop drinking fizzing drinks and keep to drinking MOSTLY water - and occasionally herbal tea!

  • Does Crohn's turn your hair red, too?

  • Great video. I'm so happy for Abbie. I've had Crohns for 20 years but wasn't seeing a doctor after I got off the mass amounts of meds I took to get it under control. I just found out that I have a blockage due to scarring and am going to have surgury. Seeing someone recover from the same surgury makes me feel a lot better about it.

  • Thanks for the video. As a sufferer since 1994 (and three operations later) the best advice I can offer you is to make certain you only have surgery at the best hospital in your area, because less-experienced surgeons can botch it and make you feel much worse! I've been dreadful since my 2006 operation, and desperately await corrective surgery later this year. Best - John

  • Well done. I am a Crohn's patient and I developed an iPhone application to track symptoms. Its called GI Monitor and is available in iTunes. I hope it helps you.

  • Did you make this? If so it was very proffessional and well done, good stuff. Hope Abbie doesn't end up in hospital again any time soon.

  • I made it for my final year broadcast project (one of 3 videos) - hopefully she will be on a constant recovery course now :D

  • Bet you got a damn good mark! I made a documentary at college so I know it's really hard to make something like that interesting and informative but you really pulled it off :)

  • Thanks :)

  • It's a shame that the woman in this clips fails to realise that diet does make a difference! I used to suffer from Crohn's Colitis but after 7 years I worked out that diet, which the so called 'EXPERTS' said made no difference, MAKES A DIFFERENCE. And I would go as far as saying, 'puts the disease in total remission.'

  • Great job! Keep up the awareness! We will find a cure! You DO have support...be well!
