dang it gaslight, you can do better and you know it. if only someone had NOT decided that it was a good idea to mix Brian's voice so that it sounds like listening to a tape deck over a telephone, this would be outstanding. as it stands, i'm forced to consider it merely 'deec', which pains me.
I criticize Cash for singing that song and with a heavy feeling in my chest have to criticize The Gaslight Anthem for covering it. This song stands for all whats wrong with the whole Christianity.
@hillzyworm1 one of the things this band prides themselves on is being able to show their fans who their influences are. So while they will sit there in an interview and go on and on about Springsteen and
Tom Waitts, they will also cover songs by the artists that made them want to play music in the first place. Not to mention the fact that playing your own song over and over gets kinda boring.

Eh, I would've liked it a lot better if there weren't any effects on Brian's voice. Less instrumentation would be more suiting too.
