  • say, isn't that one of the very first electric guitars of spector that man is holding? or were they made later?

  • Very skilled bassist but instead of playing guitar riffs on a bass just use a guitar instead. lol

  • @SammyWhyte the guitar dont give you the sweet sound of a bass...

  • can anyone describe me his right hand "index-slap" technique: i truly don't understand how he does that ?

  • thats all really cool, but the problem i find myself running into is that i dont like the way i sound when i get all flashy like doug or victor, i feel like i am loosing my message to make room to show off.just so much unessisary stuff that doesnt nessicarily add to any emotional content. but looking at them i just wanna hear what they can do with simple stuff (more love by vic is his best song imo)

  • 5:02 - 5:23 is that a song or just some groove? if it's a song can any1 tell me which one is it? I just love that part <3

  • @ZetsubouYuugi it's a Jungle Funk track called Torn.

  • Qué tremendo bajista Doug.

  • Doug Wimbish is one of the most influential bassists of our time!

  • Heard a little Quasimodo in there, i love that harmonic melody :-)

  • Yeah, he can play!

  • He wasn't just testing it out. He knew he was being filmed, obviously.

He's still the man. He's got everything in there. Speed-chords, melodic runs, crazy-cool tap technique (never seen that before, I wasn't looking, and I thought he was just slapping like lightening, then I turn round and he's just whacking it with his fingers) and some nice funky slap. And from another video I can tell he likes to make the bass sound very strange.

  • his a great player but i have to say he reminds me with Ronaldinho the soccer player

  • great sound

  • Doug is one of the main reasons I bought a Spector (My first bass, Legend classic 4) Ty Doug for your great music and influential playing :)

  • Great chord progression. Very original!

  • This is crazy. I bet this is just him killing time and how he test out bass guitars.

  • the other guy is like whatever Mr fancy pants

  • also trying to think what he's gonna follow up to doug's playing.....

  • .... umm wow

  • As a long time Living Colour fan, this is so cool to watch!!

    Thanks for the upload!!

  • Im in a 3 man rap group with doug wimbish jr.from conn.called the jungle assasins.i hope we take off like doug wimbish sr.

  • This is an awesome video. And this is an awesome bass. It is a several steps above the one I own. I have a ReBop4, but I love mine to no end. I can play every kind of music with it.

  • Hate the tone.

  • The guy on right's mind just blown up.

  • Is the Spector Legend 5 suitable for funk/jazz?

  • Well...funk and jazz are genres and styles you can play, anythings really good, it's more of what tone you refer and how comfrotable the bass is to you. Spectors are amazing basses though, so you can't go wrong!

  • I liked Muzz Skillings more than i like Doug. Muzz was better for Living Colour, and he had better right hand technique.

  • you sure know about right hand technique...

is it better with a sock or not ?

  • What kind of amp is he sitting on?

  • haha pro (L

  • I want a Spector really badly now.

  • same hear

  • does anyone know how he gets that fuzz on his E and A strings?

  • He doesn't. Its just a bad quality mic on whatever camera's being used. But if I'm wrong, he'd have to split his signal and have two outputs from his bass. Complex...

  • maybe the pickups are there closer to the strings??!

    that´s what would say....

i don´t know if it is really so;-)

  • no, if the e and a strings would be closer to the pickups, the e and a string would just be louder (ok then the amp could maybe distort a bit but the difference in the loudnes then would have to be realy HUGE, and i don'T think so...) otherwise, if he would split the signal, this bass would have to be a digital one (gibson has such a digital les paul but u would need a laptop etc. as far as i know, to split the signal of the strings...blablabla)

  • or you would need a split coil, with 2 outputs and as far as i know there is none like this, aand i don'T see 2 cables conected to the bass. so i think it just comes from the not so good mic in this camera... (sorry for my crapy english)

  • its coz hes hitting the shit out of em

  • i love these kinida players, they don't care about showin off, they just wanna make sweet funky love tunes

  • anyone know what kind of spector that is?

  • Looks like the Euro 4LX, or the NS-2,

  • Buen sonido!

  • wow how about that double joint in the middle of his thumb, sick.

  • sounds like it could be in an oldschool video game

  • I see a lot of you guy doggin on the "guy behind doug". That's a big mistake, never underestimate anyone when it comes to music and how good they might be able to play. I've seen people that looked like music beasts that couldn't play a lick, and little dorks that could make a bass cry.

  • EXACTLY! sniggity

  • great point

  • @sniggity fucking amen!!!!!

  • @sniggity "the guy behind doug" just got his mind blown by the best bassist on the planet,

it doesent matter weather he looks like he can play or not

  • Lol, the guy in the background is probably thinking "Well shit, what I'm I supposed to play now?". Doug is amazing, I saw Living Colour live in Paris.

  • My favorite!

    Doug is an exellent bassplayer!

    Cool!!!!!!

  • cool I recognize those octaves from living color

  • amazing, great sound, and very good style of play, very good

  • fucking great playing and amazing use of different techniques!

the guy in the background cant even play a single note because next to that performance almost everything would just suck...

  • very interesting player

    he is otstanding

    i'm mad about spector basses

  • awesome

  • Met him at one of Veasley's Bass Bootcamps, he is a very talented, very friendly outgoing guy. Awesome all around.

  • shut up

  • very nice! cool!

  • wowowowowowwowowowowowowow!!!!!!

  • OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!!

This guy is a great musician!!

I love him! and Living Colour too!

    thanks for uploading
