thats all really cool, but the problem i find myself running into is that i dont like the way i sound when i get all flashy like doug or victor, i feel like i am loosing my message to make room to show off.just so much unessisary stuff that doesnt nessicarily add to any emotional content. but looking at them i just wanna hear what they can do with simple stuff (more love by vic is his best song imo)
He wasn't just testing it out. He knew he was being filmed, obviously.
He's still the man. He's got everything in there. Speed-chords, melodic runs, crazy-cool tap technique (never seen that before, I wasn't looking, and I thought he was just slapping like lightening, then I turn round and he's just whacking it with his fingers) and some nice funky slap. And from another video I can tell he likes to make the bass sound very strange.
This is an awesome video. And this is an awesome bass. It is a several steps above the one I own. I have a ReBop4, but I love mine to no end. I can play every kind of music with it.
Well...funk and jazz are genres and styles you can play, anythings really good, it's more of what tone you refer and how comfrotable the bass is to you. Spectors are amazing basses though, so you can't go wrong!
He doesn't. Its just a bad quality mic on whatever camera's being used. But if I'm wrong, he'd have to split his signal and have two outputs from his bass. Complex...
no, if the e and a strings would be closer to the pickups, the e and a string would just be louder (ok then the amp could maybe distort a bit but the difference in the loudnes then would have to be realy HUGE, and i don'T think so...) otherwise, if he would split the signal, this bass would have to be a digital one (gibson has such a digital les paul but u would need a laptop etc. as far as i know, to split the signal of the strings...blablabla)
or you would need a split coil, with 2 outputs and as far as i know there is none like this, aand i don'T see 2 cables conected to the bass. so i think it just comes from the not so good mic in this camera... (sorry for my crapy english)
I see a lot of you guy doggin on the "guy behind doug". That's a big mistake, never underestimate anyone when it comes to music and how good they might be able to play. I've seen people that looked like music beasts that couldn't play a lick, and little dorks that could make a bass cry.
Lol, the guy in the background is probably thinking "Well shit, what I'm I supposed to play now?". Doug is amazing, I saw Living Colour live in Paris.
say, isn't that one of the very first electric guitars of spector that man is holding? or were they made later?

Very skilled bassist but instead of playing guitar riffs on a bass just use a guitar instead. lol

Is the Spector Legend 5 suitable for funk/jazz?

I liked Muzz Skillings more than i like Doug. Muzz was better for Living Colour, and he had better right hand technique.

is it better with a sock or not ?
