  • just goes to show SG's sound good thru anything!!

  • are you in F tunning? isnt that bad for the neck?

  • I just cant stop listening to this clip.

Amazing sound, reminds me of Dokken's "Tooth And Nail". :)

  • i heard some empire in there lol :37-:42

  • I was expecting an EVH kinda amp

  • man however u modded this thing... it sounds like a monster. just got a jcm 900 sl-x and I'm lovin it but this thing sounds much meaner. \m/

  • I used traynor amp from a 4x8 to drive my jcm800 cab. it was good.

  • Frankenhead for sure. what's in it?

  • @liquidman2

Check out his first vid using this amp "Low Budget Marshall Replacement" in the description it tells you what it is made up from.

  • hey nice playing :) u are really good. where you born with a pick in your hand? :D but i have a question, what is warimng up the tubes? ive heard several ppl talking about it, bu what does it mean?

  • I played this for a friend of mine who had one of these when he was a kid. He got rid of it for a Marshall Valvestate. After watching this, he really regrets it.

  • Riff guy rules

  • im thinking about getting the same exact guitar your have there. any suggestions about it? for instance, get the action turned down or anything?

  • I love your house.

  • Wow. you can really make that guitar screamm. very nice instrument, very nice playing my good sir. :]

  • I,ve got 2 of those YBA-1,s in the basement and I,ve got the older version with the tube rec and 7027,s in it too.

would you mind e- mailin me a scematic of the mods that you did to yours ...it would be awsome I love the type of tone you get out of it

  • ooh, with tons of pregain

  • I think you need to read the description.

  • I WILL BUY IT OFF OF YOU! HOW MUCH?

  • Riffguy - you are a phenomenal player but I'm appealling to your circuitry wizardry. I've got an old YBA-2 that had tons of output but very hissy and noisy and a tendancy to pick up radio stations. I gave it to a friend who is trying to clean it up, and his efforts have gotten it quieter without a load, but put a guitar on it and you can't turn it past 1 without a horrible squealing. He hasn't been able to figure it out yet; any way I can phone you for some suggestions?

  • Try using a pencil to tap on the tubes when the amp is on, if one of them starts to squeal when you tap on it, you have a microphonic tube.

  • Thanks for the info. I passed it on to my friend who tried it, then realized that the tubes were EL34s but weren't matched. Says it's fine now so I'm looking forward to picking it up.

  • Not that it's going to tremendously affect your day, but I did get that amp back this past weekend and it is like nothing I've ever heard. I was wrong about the model - it's the YBA-1A Bassmaster II. At any rate, it sounds solid in the low channel and when the high input is cranked, plugged into a 4x12 at one end and a Les Paul in the other......unbelieveably loud and clear gain. Thanks for the tips and keep on rockin in the free world!

  • Wow...do you think it is possible to add your own bass, because I'm using my imagination on what it would be like to add bass and drums to your guitar playing..

I really do like it, and it makes me want to grab my guitar and play along.

  • nice sound man, really did it... thats a lot of gain for a bass amp? Pedals?

  • What speakers you got in that cab??

  • read description dumbass...

  • Hey, thanks for the help, I like helpfull people.

  • lofl

  • Great playing and sound. I love it. I recently picked up a late 70's traynor yba-1 bassmaster, which is similar to yours. I think you have a mid 60's model with a tube rectifier and choke. What type of master mod did you do?? Thanks, Scott

  • Nothing "Low Budget" about a Traynor especially an old one like you have there.

  • There is when you only paid 25 bucks and it's chassis with no box.

  • @riffguy I'm with ya bro! Is it about tone, or show?

Not everyone can appreciate and recognize a GREAT plexi tone...

But I'm glad to be one of 'em!

THANK YOU SOOOO much for sharing!

BTW....LOVE the Marshall's! You're the guy with the 3 FULL stack WALL !!! I've got 2 half stacks and 1x12combo's on top, but I'll catch up to you one o these days! lol

    PEACE!

  • I liked it

  • You Rock Paul!!! \m/ That sound is ready to bite someone's head off! lol

  • Great playing!!!

You look like a young Ronnie Montrose early 70's era..

  • Yo RG - holy shiite! What TONE!

  • MEAN SOUND! Show a video of that´ and The Strat from Hell!

  • Haven't been on youtube in months. Man you play well. It's nice to hear the strings in the video, 'cause it's a slight reminder that you are actually a human playing a guitar. Your quick little passes between the chords are so impressive, so fluid. So jealous.

  • Shitttttt, great soud and great brain.

  • Egads that sounds good. Of course your playing is always exemplary. What's the mod on the Traynor? (stock Traynors sound good, but they don't sound like *that*!)

  • wow insane how much for one of those r they forsale also i'm supprized u aint famous for playin or ampmakin or pick-ups

  • Neat sound, congrats. Nice playen tew. "clink"

  • wow this amp makes the harmonics sound so nice

  • man ur settings are awesome, But i couldnt really make out the idea of what you were playing....

  • GREAT sound!

  • The smile at the end was perfect =]

  • your traynor is my favorite and is a very awesome sounding amp

  • dude, you could make a Yamaha jx-15 sound good with your chops! And those are some low budget amps!!!!

  • Nice vid,big sound,amazing guitar player ;-)

  • can you post some Def Leppard stuff? THEY'RE MY FAVORITE BAND!!!!

  • excelent work Riffguy, your videos are awesome

  • Great sounding amp. I bet master at 2 is some serious volume (same as the JCM 800) ?

    5 *

    Robin :o)

  • Yeah, it's pretty loud at 2....very similar to an 800.

  • Riffguy, since you seem to be freakin' rich i suggest you buy the new gibson robot les paul

    And btw, you are god

  • I suggest him to buy the Gibson Les Paul Axcess, the robots are only usefull if you dont know how to tune, LOL.

  • meh, i had so much problem tuning, it's so long, strings de-tune while i tune others, that's normal yeah, but i like to change my tuning pretty often but it gets annoying

  • Yah i know, but it's still tons of fun having a Robot les paul if you are lazy :)

  • man! you always wanna make me buy those badass amps!

  • nice blues... kinda van helenee too...

  • that's actually interesting... hmmm, cool as well, a bass amp head?

  • Riffguy.. YOu should buy a bugera 1990 and comapre it to a JCM 900... I love bugeras. Their new stuff is amazing and cheap.

  • cool sounds you get there mate!

  • Friggin delicious sir

  • Which model traynor is this?

  • I believe this is a YBA-1.

  • That sounds HUGE

    ...and it's only on 2!!!!

  • Just amazing... I know riffguy you're calling this amp "Low Budget Marshall Replacement", but IMO this amp has it's own character, and it sings brother... great video.

  • my JCM900 SLX broke again.

had it repaired, now after 30 min of playing it cuts out, sounds like someone has just turned down the vol quickly. Any advice or should i just send it in for repairs again?

  • Run a cable from the effects send to the effects return, sometimes those switching jacks cause problems like this. Also, have a look at the low/high power switch as well as the impedance selector....dirty contacts can sometimes do this. Lastly, don't forget to check the cable between the head and cabinet...a bad connection here could end up blowing your output transformer.

  • thanks man, I've checked it again, one of the output valve fuses have blow, i'll replace it and if it keeps popping them I'll put it in for a teck to look at it.

Thanks again, hope everything's well, you still on MLP?

  • @riffguy yes becuase that makes alot of sense.

  • your feel is so old school i love it... and gr8 tone!! you got the shit man!

  • Tone reminds me of the tone from AC/DC's Big Gun.

  • ^^ nice!

  • What kind of interface does the SM57 go into?

  • I'm using a USB mixer.

  • So your playing guitar through a bass cabinet.

  • It's a bass head running into a guitar cabinet.

  • awesome as always

  • what scale/mode are you playing? The one that you mostly play a lot, i'm dying to know

  • Pretty sure he's just running through the modes of the major scale on this one.

  • like the ones he shreds through, like in riffguy powered by a ford

  • The scales he uses emphasize usually natural or harmonic minor along with pentatonic scales and such. He makes use of all the modes from what I've seen. Riffguy just has the skill to play them right and improvise.

It inspired me over the last few years to learn like that and now I play much the same as him. Thanks riff!

  • sweet thanx

  • You're welcome. Just knowing that guys like you are getting something out of what I play, inspires me to keep playing, so thanks to you and all my viewers!

  • I'm playing the Phrygian Dominant mode and the Blues scale here.

  • same mode and scale as in riffguy powered by ford right?

  • Same mode and scale as in most of my videos actually....hahaha!

  • haha :P

  • Sounds Awesome! You rock!
