  • Way, way, WAY too fast. Having performed this under John Rutter's baton, I can tell you this is about 25% faster than the composer intended.

  • tempo marking is quarter = 72

  • I agree McUther. Our choir did this piece and sanctus was challenging.

  • My 3rd favorite movement next to agnus dei and tied for 2nd out of the deep and the lord is my shepard

  • So, So, DIFFICULT.

  • In my opinion this was one of the hardest to perform- because it easily sounds...muddy- if not carefull it all becomes noise instead of music...

-But it was GREAT to perform it :D

  • its going the right speed, its supposed to be happy! and i have the music for my choir.

  • das Lied, hat mir als erstes am besten gefallen, als ich das Requiem gehört hab...einfach wunderbar...möchte sofort wieder mitsingen=)

    ....tu es auch grade X)

  • Too fast my ass.

  • Ez egyszerűen csodálatos. És még azt hittem, hogy csak Mozart tudott alkotni...

Nem hiába Rutter-darab a kedvencem a kórusművek közül.

  • The Bradford Girls choir (the choir i'm in) had the honor to sing the entire movements of Requiem along with John Rutter himself conducting us!

  • @alt3etf i got to do that a few years ago with my high school! soooo amazing.

  • We're practicing this song in our choir and I just love this song.

  • My Chior did this Requiem. Was AMAZING! I loved it. We did it slightly slower, but, it's a pretty fast song. Our conductor was AMAZING!

  • I think this is too fast, so it may be slower.

  • @IMATCH0603

Too fast I agree. Reahearsing it now. Beautiful voices though

  • Too fast this is supposed to be a little slower

  • @Linkjoy123 Composers generally control the tempo of the song and if its faster than what your used to then it could be that he's directing it faster because he wants to, though you could be right, they may have gone faster than he liked

  • Fantastic

  • cant hear the second soprano... but you sound otherwise great.

  • yeah, when i was in NY and we were practicing to sing it in carnagie hall john rutter always told the second soprano to be louder, oh and if you ever sing under him MAKE SURE you don't start singing until he gives you the signal, that makes him VERY mad if you do, he screams and yells, and for all the people saying its too fast, john rutter changes the speed how he wants EVERYTIME he conducts it, thats how he is

  • What year did you sing it with him in NY? I got to perform it in Carnegie in 2003. It was awesome.

  • Too Fast

  • come on folks the best part of this piece is the Tenor 1 part ;-)

  • I had to sing the 2nd Soprano part....it took a bit of work but when it all came togeather...Wonderful. I love John Rutters "Requiem." Amazing!!!

  • The second soprano part is really hard to get!

    lol

and the don't know how to pronounce the "eh" vowl in "Benedictus" "Plenis"

They pronounce it Beeneedictus and Pleenees instead of pl"eh"nis and B"eh"n"eh"dictus.

    its kinda weird.

  • I sang this a while ago, and getting this canon right had to be the hardest thing i have ever had to sing. Half the time we always ended up as a jumble! But i loved the whole piece all the same!
