why are people even looking how to change a processor if they don't even know basics like ''can i put an amd processor on a Intel board''? guys if you don't know that you don't know computers at all so don't even think about it, oh and there's no adapters for it... wtf??
Hear we go all people new to computer Building, If you have the money, Buy An Intel I7 series or lower, if you dont just Get A Quad Core or Dual Core AMD proccerser
I have a question about my processor, Is it good to play games with? or should I upgrade it? I am decided on updating my graphics card, as it is integrated and old, but my Processor is:
@MrKizzler99 you don`t extra ram buy yourself a pci express video card
like geforce gt 210/asus EN210 for about less then 40 euro and you can play all games on high or a geforce gts 250 for about 99 euro and you can play all games on max
your processor is one of the best for gaming
btw defrag your harddisk if you don`t have the money yet greeting from holland(johan)
my processor falled down and i catched it from the floor no cleaning and stuff, add him to socket but it didn't fit, i was pushing more until it fits.. the processor now works for five years nothing is wrong with it, i didn't even need to remove motherboard so calm down all of you easy as cake
hi i have my intel 1.8 ghz on my compaq computer, i have never opened and replace stuff on computers before. im looking to buy an amd phenom 3.0 ghz is it worth it
I was just given a really old computer that probably doesn't even have 1.0ghz. Is it possible to upgrade it to at least 1.6ghz or will it be to much for it to handle?
i am planning to change my processor, but i am confused. do i have to install again my os? or just like RAM that if u upgrade no need to install ur os again? tnx in advance^^
hey, i have a 1.8 ghz processor, what should i get to replace this, that would be nice and cheap, but stil be good for games. i have a nvidia geforce 9400 gt.
@falseid89 what about p4 1.7ghz to p4 2.66ghz? Would that be any good. I do not think i can get some sort of slot converter for the core 2 duo, phenom ii, or I series.
That upgrade is almost unnoticeable. On a benchmark, you would get say... only 0.1 points more of performance.
Save your money for a dual-core, quad core,or even an octo-core processor. Their worst still murders off most Pentium 4 processers. I highly suggest that you get the higher end of AMD's dual-core processor or the base range of the Intel dual cores.

If I am right, it is similar to RAM (most likely, I am right...).
The operating system is installed into the Hard Drive, and only the replacement of the hard drive would require you to reinstall your OS.

Lets see... It depends on the amount of Cores you would like the processor to have. Processors can range from $50 to $300.

i was tihnking about putting ina pentium 4 2.66ghz, will this be better? and how much better?
666krypt0nit3 2 years ago
It's such a tiny upgrade that you won't notice the difference.
Save your money for something more modern, such as the core 2 duo, phenom ii, or i7. Even the slowest one of these is much better than a p4 2.66 ghz.
