  • im just hoping he does this to vancouver now forever a leaf he deserves a cup

  • Thanks for the memories Tomas.

  • its about time they traded kaberle.

  • same thing happened in game 5 2001 leafs took a 3-2 win game 5 but lost gms 6 and 7

  • Comment removed

  • leafs back before the lockout actually had leadership and heart. we even had premier players and a superstar goalie unlike now. today, no one worthy of wearing a C on their jersey and no one that is a fan favorite and no superstar player or goalie,

  • I miss the old Leafs, but i go back to the days of Sittler,Salming, and McDonald.

Not sure what this team is trying to accomplish. Because after all this wheeling and dealing over the past 4 years, we still need 2 first line players, and a #1 goalie. We traded Stempniak, i knew that was going to be a mistake. Since going to Phoenix, and playing with Wolski, Stemp has been on a tear. All the Leafs needed was a 1st line center...aaarrrggghhh.... the post Mats years.

  • SOME PLEASE REPLY TO THIS

i swear he did the same thing the next year in the 2001 ECSF, did he not?

  • Yes he did... in game five in NJ, which was the game after the Domi/Niedermayer incident.

I can't find it on youtube, but I remember it was a controversial goal because a Leaf ran over Brodeur in the crease seconds before.

  • they should of won on monday :(

  • oh.. you should find the video of wendel clark tieing the game in game 6 of the 3rd period against LA in 1993 with the joe bowen play by play.

    that would be nice (:

  • they play the Bowen call on The Passion Returns tape.

  • This team was awesome and a pleasure to watch...made me proud to be a leafs fan...not like the one we have now

  • too bad they lost this series

  • i miss this team

  • Wow, do I ever miss Maple Leafs playoff hockey.

  • WHAT A FIREBALL INTO THE NET!!!!

  • hey kaberle rocks man

  • This was a great game. We'd gotten crushed in game 3, and HAD to take game 4 to avoid going down 3-1. With us up a goal going into the 3rd, the Devils dominated the 3rd period, but Cujo was a monster, keeping that one goal lead. Claude Lemeiux scored on a garbage goal with like 3 minutes, devastating. But then Tomas scored this monster goal, and I took off running around my basement pumping my fist. Gotta love Sundin and Stumpy's reactions on the bench.

  • Yeah whatever josespanishfly,

Big deal !!The Devils went on to win the next 2 games to win the series . They went on to win the Cup that year as well.

  • looks like sundin might come to montreal

  • u wish man sundin said its between Vancouver and Toronto

  • nope gunna retire

  • now ya when i put that it wasnt as obvious.

  • i said this since january, he is staying as a leaf or he is going to retire

  • Sundin will never play for those fags in Montreal

  • Why not?

  • He's not a traitor.

  • He may be loyal to the Leafs, but why wouldn't he go to Vancouver/Montreal? I'm not saying he will sign there and I doubt he will, but I don't see why he wouldnt go to a contender, unlike the Leafs (in obvious re-building mode).

  • Vancouver is an entirely different story! But, to be honest, I don't think Sundin has a the heart to play for the Canadiens. Maybe it's just me...

  • You may be right, I personally can see Sundin going to Vancouver long before Montreal but Montreal has a huge advantage. Their travel is much much better.

But its pointless now, Bob Gainey already stated that he is out of the Sundin sweepstakes.

  • Well, you were right because Sundin is now on the Canucks, ha

  • we had the best team at the time unfortanly we didnt win any stanley cups since 1968 anways go leafs go

  • leafs rule

  • Leafs are the best

  • Hahaha, look at Tucker (No 16) at about 00:11 to 00:13 seconds. He spasms with excitement before hugging his teammate.

  • ya hes a flamer

  • I wish there were more vids of old leafs playoff games on youtube

  • personally, i like the new nhl but i haven't seen any memorable playoff series in it. in the old nhl, there were so many amazing series. i mean leafs-devils, leafs-sens, leafs-isles, leafs-hurricanes, stars-oilers, devils-flyers...list goes on and on. with this new nhl, there are tooo many blowouts in the playoffs, no historic rivalries.

  • YOU ARE SO RIGHT. WOW. I'VE NEVER SEEN IT PUT BETTER THAN YOU JUST DID. The 90's/Early 2000's were what hockey was all about. Fuck I miss those days.

New hockey just seems so boring and scripted :S

  • lol, hurricanes as champs??? i think they were a good team that year but they never played in any classic series that season. and last year, all of the sens series finished in 5 games.:S

  • even the series they choked it BAHAHAHAHA

  • lol, what do u mean and who?

  • The leafs and devs played two great series (2000 and 2001) until the leafs have to play horribly in New Jersey (Game 6 in 2000 and Game 7 in 2001)

  • leafs are too sick...dey are the "yankees" of hockey

    GO LEAFS GO

  • Leafs and Devils always played a great series, just ashame that the Leafs always lost to them. I think this was the series where the Devils won game 6 with the Leafs getting only 6 shots

  • This series (2000) wasn't bad. But the following year's second round series (2001) was amazing. It went the full 7 games. The leafs had just swept the Sens in the first round, and the Devils were the defending champs, so it was like the real conf finals. I know the Leafs went further in 99, and 02, but that 01 team may have been the best Leaf team in the Pat Quinn days.

  • Its either this year or the next year that the Leafs only managed a piss poor 6 shots in the final game of the series. I remember watching the game and I was amazed on how Jersey kept them so in checked.

  • It was that year, the next year, they were embarassed in Game 7.

  • it may have been. i remember in 2000 sundin was virtually invisible because holik was all over him, but sundin couldnt be contained in 2001. i remember in the 2001 series toronto had the chance to win the series in game 6 at home, and everyone was looking ahead to the semi-finals...sundin hit 2 posts that game and toronto ended up losing the game either by a goal, or 2 goals (one of them being an empty netter) i'm not sure but they ended up losing game 7 big time unfortunately.

  • I was at game 6 at ACC. I agree, 2001 was the year Sundin really stepped it up. He's been a god on ice ever since then.

  • @leafnation17 shows what kind of a leader mats was when all they managed all game was 6 shots...

  • Kabby is so young here, he's such a champ.

  • kaberle actually shot the puck for once

  • tucker has funny legs

  • lmao he jumps around funny.

  • I dont know if anyone noticed but thats the good ol' Gritty WENDEL CLARK on the ice wearing #17 at the foot of the crease to the goalies left, when Kaby scored. His 3rd go-around with the Buds!

  • kaberle is way underrated, McCabe and Kubina get paid a million more and yet they arent half as good

  • my first ever playoff game.

until i saw Game 6 against the Flyers that year i have never heard it so loud, nor yelled so loud, like when Lemieux tied it up just a few minutes before

  • we still won that series

    !!!

  • I remember this jew goal. Some bullshit penalty got called. I kinda miss CuJo bitching after losses to the Devils though.

  • Kaberle IS great though, respect.

  • Did the Leafs win the cup that year?

    ;)

  • no, the devils did

  • well....no shit

  • WOW. Tomas is an amazing player; I've always liked him. Tucker sure looked thrilled after that goal. :D Thanks for posting this.

  • Kaberle scored a very similar goal in the following year (2001 Playoffs, Conf Semis, @New Jersey, game 5, last minute) ... still trying to find that video
