Saw them last night in Sydney at the Enmore Theatre. Up there with INXS and Divinyls as best Aussie band of all time. Why they weren't massive astounds me.
they were good, but think had been heavily influenced by my bloody valentine, the interchanging lead vocalists & ambigious appearance look very valentine, let alone the drone with sweet vocals
Nice memories. Saw them live in Perth but can’t remember the venue. I have always loved their combination of sweet harmonies with the wall of sound guitar playing. I still have my fold out copy of Penny Century.
thats a great band!! it really makes my 90's... a brother send that cd from aus, and here in brazil it did rocks as an alternative anthen at that time! cheers from brazil!
You can't buy it . You can't download it. This has been the only way I've been able to hear this song again. Very underrated band. Big thanks for sharing this.
Yeah. I taped this song off RAGE back in the day and watched it a crazy amount of times . VHS. Thanks ABC. Darwin's sole connection to music clips came via RAGE.
I think it was a lady who was renowned for doing great stuff.
Some clips from the early 90s and you think ... I wonder how much better it would have been with today's technology. But I reckon this one, especially with the clarity of the superimposed pics, holds up pretty well.
What a great band/song/clip!! Like everyone else - where have the years gone - but more importanly - where are Aussie bands like this these days??? :(
My first time seeing video of a band I've listened to for years. Thank you for this. Their chord changes are so complex and chromatic in comparison to most other indie bands of that period; I wonder what in their musical background caused them to put these complex harmonies into their music.
I got a brand new CD player for my 12th birthday. The two albums I went and got were Penny Century and Trompe le Monde. I'm still undecided to this day as to which was best, but I do know they both were awesome. Thanks Kieran for the advice, and thanks Gemear for stirring those beautiful memories.
I saw them live a couple of times, they were great. I loved the female guitarist.

I've got a couple tracks from Thunderhead up in HD on my channel: Bower Of Bliss & Universal. Clouds are great.

This is how the pixies would have sounded if they had a good drummer.

@maccastacka Hey me to. At the Shenton park. One of the few bands of that era that sounded as good live as the album.

Lent the guitarist (Dave) a copy of Pixies CD never got it back, Pixies comparisons are justified.
These were the times.

I remember Jodi introducing a song at a gig, "This is a song about a superhero named Tony" ... they didn't play it tho

Jodi sure did learn her Pixies lessons. I was in love with her.

Yes, they're Australian :) I saw this band so many times. The girls were a local inspiration to female musicians in my generation.

Fantastic - thanks for posting! Unfortunately indie bands of this calibre seemingly don't exist anymore..

A profoundly important band for me. Loved seeing them at the Horden in Sydney...loved 'the sweetest thing' and 'foxes wedding'. Genius.

One of the greatest Aussie bands of the 90's, if not the best.
Every show I saw them play was absolutely cooking. They certainly don't make them like this now, do they?

Ive been DYING to see this again! A great example of well crafted Aussie pop/rock. Nothing says pop doesnt have to have style.

This is where 90s music could have headed if The Pixies held more influence over it than Nirvana. What a missed opportunity!
