  • that part at 4:05 is sickkkk

  • somebody stole the pick of destiny

  • he's damn good

  • lol @ scales on the piano SO true

  • what strings are you using??

  • what strings are you using???

  • so over any major chord you can play the fifth mode of that chords harmonic minor scale? so basically over any major chord you can simply play its harmonic minor?

  • anyone here smart enough to tell me what scale he is playing?

he says Fifth "?" harmonic minor, cant understand the second word he uses, sounds like modem or moda.

  • @ConsumedByDrums You might know already but the scale is '5th mode of harmonic minor' :)

  • @ConsumedByDrums fifth mode, if you're still interested

  • @ConsumedByDrums phrygian dominant

  • for some reason i think his guitar sounds like egypt

  • Arabian nights!

  • Woah... Since when did Rob Halford pick up the guitar... And sound not British?

  • @xxxNightstalker1xxx LOL gotta love priest

  • holy shit its rob halford

  • was he just playing harmonic minor scales or something else? can anyone tell me the names of all the scales hes specifically playing?

  • @1withguitar He was playing Phrygian dominant. It's a mode of harmonic minor. Its like phrygian, but with a sharp 3rd.

  • wow

  • jizz in my pants

  • Stone me, but this reminds me a of Nile

I mean that eastern feel to those solos is just amazing! I wanna play like that

  • @BurianAttila Oh ya i know what you mean.. i love harmonic minor stuff. I use it all the time :]

  • When he says play any chord you rip out a Dmin7 add 13 not a C dang it. At least make him think about it.

  • sounds like marc rizzo

  • THIS MAN KNOW'S WHAT HE'S DOING, HE'S GOOD! =^..^=

  • this sounds alot like Marty Friedman

  • This helped but alot of the metal I play or listen to have very complex rythems making it hard to solo over. Any help?

  • @jillraydave Hey may be just make up a riff for the solo which wont be complex at all?? or use some ethnic scales or just .. diminished which is kinda universal-ish (at least to me) when it comes to complicated rythms

  • @jillraydave

create your own backing track, or practise this with another song till youve learned and dominated completely this techniques ;) hope it helps

  • @jillraydave learn how to be able to tell the key. a good way is to just memorize what scales can go with one note. also. play every scale you know, and what sounds right, keep, what doesnt. dont.

  • nice sg

  • i dont understand all the techniqualities lol cant spell of guitar like major 7th interval or anything but i can play good is that bad should i learn it?

  • @DirtyGhettoOmellete I'd say it's good to learn all that because you can communicate with other musicians easier and they will have a better idea of what you want and get it done quicker. But that's just my opinion.

  • lol XD thats treu

  • all this guys solos sound egyptian

  • @germboy56 thats the phyrigian domanant for ya, best mode of the harmonic minor hahaha

  • @germboy56 he's explaining harmonic minor, which has that feel.

  • i am a huge guitar nerd lol but i suck bad lol

  • @Vengeanceisourpassio hell yeah dude

  • Heavy metal solos used to be so much cooler before guitar players were taught to play harmonic minor scales. Listen to Iommi in Black Sabbath or Randy Rhoads' stuff. Most good heavy metal solos are NOT in harmonic minor. Yngwie's harmonic minor stuff is cool though.....got to give him that.

  • I disagree, I find all that old pentatonic stuff so sooo fucking boring nowadays. Every single guitarist soloing rock to metal used to just stick religiously to the pentatonics and due to the limiting nature of that scale most played the exact same licks...I could die happy if I never heard a pentatonic scale again...So whilst there are for sure loads who use harmonic minor now for a start itsMUCH more versatile and it has also not even come close to reaching the amount of overkillas pentatonics

  • What do you mean by harmonic minor? is that the same thing as the natural minor scale? sorry im a noob

  • @Whisp201 Natural minor with a raised 7th. If it was A minor, it would have a G#

  • @Whisp201 Natural minor with a raised 7th. If it was A minor, it would have a G#

  • @Whisp201 Natural minor with a raised 7th. If it was A minor, it would have a G#

  • @Whisp201 natural minor with a sharp 7th

  • @Whisp201 Harmonic minor is simply a minor scale with a major 7th interval. Just take a minor scale but instead of playing b7 which is the last interval before the octave. Play one fret ( using guitar ) after what would be the b7 of the minor scale.

In the easiest terms, take any minor scale and on the 7th note that you play, play one fret above that.

  • LOL welikefastmusic CROSSROADS!

  • The guy dont look like a head banger..But he plays better then one!..Nice

  • @Nevadatyler13 The best technical guitarists are usually giant music nerds :D

  • harmonic minor...and pyhrgian dominant huh?

  • this is so fucking awesome, get the fuck to norway, i need you!
