  • "one more for lil' john." 3:35

    I love Hot Rod

  • @4:56 = awesome. Quickness and power.

  • First of all, Kobe and Lebron aren't even close to what Jordan is and I dont understand why people compare Kobe to Jordan and right now in the NBA there aren't any good basketball players period. Theres nobody higher or close to Jordan at all he is The GodFather, He's The Legend, He's The God of Basketball period! Stop comparing him to sorry ass players.

  • Jordan gets one measley Dunk and the announcers and crowd go crazy.....But he gets 2 monstrous blocks in a row at @5:16 and everyones like "whatever". No love for the DEFENSE.

  • In the game against the Utah Jordan dunks in front of Stockton. "Find someone your own size" says Layden, the coach of the Jazz.

In the next phase Jordan dunks in the face of Turpin (465m)! "Ok now?" Jordan says

  • who won this game?

  • rip mr mel turpin!!

  • Later Mel. RIP.

  • rip mel turpin

  • RIP mel turpin

  • RIP Melvin Turpin.

  • R.I.P. Mel Turpin

  • he ducked on mel turpin

  • 9 assists 3 steals 3 blocks, and it's a 47 points game

  • wow he got up at 3:50

  • Fact 3: Any Jordan/Magic/Bird Team from the 80's/early 90's would absolutely destroy anything you can come up with. Please tell me if Gasol could outplay Rodman. Please tell me Kobe (who shoots like 40% in the playoffs) can compete with Jordan when Jordans percentages rose in the playoffs. Please... so we can laugh at you.

  • @FightingForFreedom23

Fact 2: Todays zone is a modified weaker version of a college zone. Big Men arent allowed to camp in the middle of the lane and they are not allowed to foul the hell out of you. Its horrible to watch players like Wade and Lebron drive to the basket when defenders arent allowed to touch you and the lane is wide open

  • @FightingForFreedom23

You need to learn a few things. Allow me to take you to school

Fact 1: Players are smaller today due to the fact the game has become focused around the guards (thanks to the success of Michael Jordan). Today's game is a backcourt game. There are no Dominant centers today.. shaq was the last one. Dwight Howard is a joke

  • @willsmackyoudown yeah, agree that dwight is a joke

  • @FightingForFreedom23

Dude, MJ was outplaying the so called stronger, faster, more talented and more athletic players in 2003. When he was 40 years old! hahaha how old are you? Gary Payton was playing with Dwayne Wade in Miami when he was like 46 years old. So in what universe do you live in where a 45 + old basketball player is better than his 28 year old prime self? Pippen, Jordan, Wilkins, Dr J all are more athletic than any player you name today.

  • If there are two things you can learn from this

    1.Don't talk shit to MJ

2.Don't bank on him forgetting it if you do

  • The owner of jazz yelled that to jordan.

After jordan dunked on stockton the jazz owner yelled "Why dont you pick on somebody your own size?" And then almost immedietly Jordan dunks on Mel turpin and says to the jazz owner "Was he big enough for ya?"

Kobe is the closest thing to Jordan but not even close enough.

Dont even start comparing Lebron to Kobe or Lebron to Jordan, Lebron sucks dick and he will never be as good as jordan or kobe.

    Enuff' Said

  • @achitn Why do you have to put up a good post and then ruin any chance of someone believing your argument with profanity? Although Lebron is over rated

  • Jordan logo at 4:04.

  • MJ Fan Boy central! Looks like I hit the mother load! You guys are phenomenal I'm heavily invested in the Jordan brand so keep up the good work guys!

  • who is the play-by-play?

  • LOL I just noticed STockton's facial/body reaction at 48-50 seconds after the jumper is in the air. Stock knows he got faked out and that it's money befor it even goes in. He's exasperated lol.

  • My gut is that Jordan could score any time he felt like it...that dunk on Turpin was pure "I am going to dunk this no matter what you do"

  • He never dunked on Stockton. He beat Stockton and dunked on an open net.

  • koo thx

  • haha frozen rope at :50 is insane! Playing them like a bunch of puppets.

  • I was looking at the same thing. Look at how dejected Stockton looked after he bit on that fake pass.

  • wheres the part where he dunks over stockton n coach says pick on someone ur own size???

  • MJ was just insane. He is way quicker and stronger than Kobe. I hope that Kobe loses to Lebron in the final.

  • Michael Jordan was the most talented player in the league ... And his amazing athleticism, help him be for the long time ... 1984-98 .... 35 years old Mj was still more quicker , faster , and so much better player, than today players in their prime.

  • 4:02 jordan's best dunk ever, as simple as it looks...the way jordan dunks makes it look 10x better than if someone else did it

  • lol jordan cant be shut down

  • yeah "Hot Rod" Hundley is the Jazz sports announcer, you can practically see whats happening on the court even if your just listening because he's so quick and precise when he calls games. Jordan is GOAT btw. :D

  • Yes you are right I love Hots calling the game. I'm half blind so listening to him is awsome I know right where the ball is. I will miss him its sad to see him retire I will no longer follow Jazz basketball. "you gotta love it baby!"

  • good god! MJ had incredible flexibility...on every dunk he was practically doing the splits! The Jazz play by play man is the best goin around!

  • I've been an MJ fan since 1988 when I started watching him...I really don't know why people said he had no jump shot in his youth..the guy has an excellent mid range shot in all these VIDS posted by HOOPS. It did get better as time one on especially his post up game and 3 pt range. It's amazing how he as quick has AI at 6'6" and stronger than many of the biggie heavier guys today..like a gymnast. Thanks for putting these up!

  • "Hansen against Jordan tonight, that should be a tough matchup for Bobby Hansen." Gee, ya think?

  • Jordan owned the jazz and turpin posterized for the ages

  • Damn I miss Jordan.. the NBA just ain't the same anymore... <:0( when will there be another freak?

  • His hands don't even look natural for a man his size. When he motioned towards the sideline after he dunked on Turpin, it looked like he had on fake oversized hands or somethin', lol.

  • Damn, was Jordan even human? Beast. And he killed this game.

I loved the slam on Malone's face too.

  • Mel Turpin was the biggest bust in that 1984 draft. The Cavs had to trade Tim McCormick and Clifford Robinson to get him. I had to suffer through that because I live in Cleveland unfortunately. I also suffered through trading Ron Harper for Danny Ferry. Miserableness I tell ya!

  • if it wasn't for the rim he would've landed in another state or somethin .. and lol Turpin looks completely demoralized

  • best dunk on counter-offensive ever...absolutely devastating.

  • Greatest dunk ever

  • Pippen with a hipitty hop move..

    LOL!!!

    Classic..

  • lol look at the ref after he dunks on him ...look like he wanted to say shit!! and run out the way

  • LOL! I haven't noticed that before and I've seen this dunk countless time. Funny reaction.

  • This is the game that MJ was fighting the flu prior to Game 5 1997 Finals

  • this is 1988 not the playoff its in the season

  • I know

  • Oh my God... Like millions of kids, i've seen this dunk 40 billions times in slow motion " Come fly with me ". But in real time.... OH.... MY.....GOD... ten times.

  • i never realized how fast jordan was off the dribble back in the day.

  • Yes. Many people don't understand because many think of Jordan in the second 3-peat days. From 84-90 he was as fast as Iverson off the dribble.

  • i never seen that dunk from that angle, but it was inhuman

  • I'm a tell you a story I think sum up the whole thing.....Next time down he dunk on Meehl Turpin

  • MJ jumps over everybody! LOL!!

  • sweet. this was the "Was He Big Enough?" game. MJ threw it down on Stockton, then some fan yelled at him, "pick on someone your own size." then he threw it down on Mel... then asked the fan, "Was He Big Enough???" classic. i think it was on the COME FLY WITH ME vhs tape where i seen that little tidbit.

  • That was the owner of the Jazz that yelled that....

  • hahahah whoever said lebron pwns in all dunks LMFAO.

  • lol he dunked so hard on mel turpin, the REF got outta the way... lol watch the slow mo, you can see the ref walking away ahahahah

  • That dunk from Jordan at the 3:50 mark was so fluid and beautiful. Jordan made jumping an art form.

  • Yep, his form on that dunk 3:50 is the reason why the symbol on all Jordan shoes is the way it is. Pause it there and you'll see.

  • kornymunky slit your wrists

  • As a Jazz fan, it was so disappointing how Jordan somehow always brought out the worst in Karl Malone

  • LMAO WHY ARE ThE FANS BOOING (7:15) HAHAHAHA MY MAN JORDAN!!!

  • jordan far surpasses kobe in everything, i dont understand why theres even an argument, athletically and physically jordan surpasses him, he had bigger hands, could jump farther away, therefore had longer hangtime, fundamentally he is so much better, ive watched games of his in the 80's, and he played within the rules fundamentally cause they called travel back then, so all his moves and points were laginament, also jordan played under tougher rules defensively.

  • @dv122 jordan is the greatest but kobe does look like mike in a lot of ways....only thing youre accurate about is the hands....

  • Watching Jordan in his youth reminds of a elastic man... just flexible and adaptable to every situation. With the spring of one too.

  • Kobe is a whining little rapi$t...in 20 years no one will ever remember him with much affection. The only people who think kb and lj are on the same level as jordan are 17 year old newbies who assume modern = best. Sorry doesnt work like that. Jordan is up there with Pele and Ali as an all time sporting GLOBAL icon...kobe isnt even in the same postcode.

  • It's funny how Kobe fans can watch this video and still claim KB is better than MJ. Kobe has NEVER dominated games like MJ dominated this game. Maybe he is on par with MJ offensively but Kobe has NEVER stacked up to Jordan on the defensive side of the ball. Kobe may be the closest thing to MJ in the league right now but he still isn't as good as him.

  • could you guys stop talking about kobe in this page because this has nothing to to with him this is just strickly michael jordan

  • Kobe's skills aren't up to par to jordan!!

  • Granted KB would have a better FG% if he attacked the rim more but dont fool urself. He doesnt have the same ability to do it as MJ did, noone does. By the way, in his last 3peat MJ adopted the game KB uses now, relying mostly on jumpers, and he still shot better than KB. So dont make those kind of comparisons, cause he wont make u look knowledgeble about the game.

  • kobe just drove the basket in the suns game and what happend jostte5is is right

  • Oh that's rich u use one game to make a point. KB drove against the Clippers yesterday too and he didnt get above 50% shooting. See how easy it is? U gotta use common sense and more than just one game. KB in his younger days drove a lot more and still didnt get percentages anywhere close of Mike's. I dont need a 18 year old to tell me how the game works

  • Scottie Pippen was so skinny. Mj is jsut awesomE!

  • That game was awesome! Jordans hops are insane!!!!

  • Man he didn't just dunk on individual players, he literally dunked on teams. His dunks looked like they would suck all life out of the other team, there facial reactions and body language tells it all. Michael Jordan was truly blessed by God, and utilized his talent to become the best athlete and player to ever play the game of basketball.

  • whats mjs vertical

  • 48 inches in his prime. thats higher then vince, tmac, kobe (which is probably bout 30")lebron, anybody with the exeption of a select few.

  • kobe vertical is 38, wich is about 40 not 30... but you are right, jordan has probably the highest vertical in history. VC is the one who comes closer to jordan, with a 43" vertical leap ( his standing reach is higher however: 8'11")

  • and i think mike was the most athletic; some of his moves in the air and on the ground jus seemed to defy physics. But yeah, vince is a little longer armed than jordan, looks more like 6'7" than his listed 6'6".

  • yeah i belive the junction of atlheticism and vertical leap is what made jordan a faboulous dunker. he almost holds the record for highest vertical in nba history, only beaten by David Thompson (49"). but dunking isn't only about the vertical, iverson has a 43" vertical, higher than kobe, but his height prevents him from being a great dunker. that is what is great about jordan. Ideal height, monster athetic skills, and a stunning vertical.

  • true that. I never knew david thompson vert was 49"! thats insane. But then he was 6'3" ha ha. U kno what spud webb's is? cos it looks to me to have been around 47, maybe 48".

  • yeah lol Thompson was to short to be a great dunker. Webb had 46", but vertical leap doesn't mean much if you don't have height or atlheticism. I mean, shaq had 32" ou 28", not sure wich lol, but he is such a moster that his reacing point is higher than jordan or even carter. the thing is that shaq didn't had the athletic skills, he was an average dunker, as most big guys normally are

  • David Thompson didn't have a 49" vertical! You guys read too muh folk and lord stuff. The FACT is that Darrell Griffth who played 12 seasons with the Utah Jazz probably has the highest vertical recorded of retired/active NBA players. in 1976 as a freshman at the university of Louisville they recorded him at 48". book on that..(continued)

  • Darell was in the Guiness Book before the cat with the Globe trotters reported dunk on a 11ft goal.. Look in the almanacs or online for Dr. Dunkenstien (Darrell Griffth) now that's FACT and that's HISTORY!!

  • in wikipedia, thompson is given a 48" vertical... however, i belive (i've read it before) he had 49". even giving griffith the 48" vertical and thompson the same that is a draw with jordan and thompson.

  • OWNED!!!!

  • stockton's shorts lol...

  • Jordan's reaction on defense is probably the most amazing of his skills. 5:54 - Just look at how quickly he sees Malone fumbling with the ball and races to the other side of the court to steal it from him.

  • fuck he had ups

he didn't just get the hands of god, he also got the legs of god

  • Is that big enough? ha ha

  • How on Earth did Jordan stay on his feet when Malone slammed him in midair?

  • propeoception (not sure how u spell it), and core strength probably

  • From the late, great Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah.

  • More power to MJ

  • I personally think this dunk is the best dunk i've ever seen. In slow motion it looks like he's going to float out of the building. Truly amazing.

  • That's why he'll still be the greatest dunker ever long after the Carter's and LeBron's and whoever are gone. Because of Jordan's ability to float, to soar higher and higher, because he could actually FLY!

  • Vince carter is a better dunker than mj

  • Maybe in dunk contests, and that's debateable. But in game, in traffic? Carter doesn't have the quick first step, the body control, or the giant hands necessary to keep the ball when flying at the basket at top speed.

Carter obviously is amazing, but show me the list of crunch time playoff dunks by VC. That's when the D is the best and the dunks mean the most.

  • wow wat r u talking about Vince carters in game dunks are better than the dunk contest dunks. your saying VC has no body control, quick first step, and huge hands which he has all wat r u a clown or somthin

Vince carter is the best dunker

  • I'm not saying he doesn't have any of those things, he just doesn't have them like MJ did.

Look, VC is amazing, I said it before, he's just a lazy, tanking punk (as Barkley said, "Half man, half the season) who refuses to drive if anyone breathes on him.

Show me the crunch time playoff dunks, not the mid-season, second quarter alley-oops against bad teams.

  • y u need playoff games to validate his dunks I mean if u dont like carter thats one thing but u cant be in denial when it comes to his dunks

Vince Carter is the best dunker period nothing more nothing less

  • Can you read? I'm not doubting his ability to dunk. I'm just saying that I find MJ to be a more impressive dunker. You can surf around YouTube and find a bunch of dudes who can do neat trick dunks.

I personally find 360's on an empty court less impressive than throwing it down on Patrick Ewing, one of the best defenders in NBA history, after you've been knocked to the court 5 times in the playoffs.

  • r u serious Vince carter is known for his spectacular in game dunks so wat r u sayin how is mj a better dunker i'm waiting for your reasoning look at carters first 2 years in the nba and u will know the truth vince carter has dunked on everyone in game ok

  • My sentiments exactly...

  • I agree TBlake, in a real game, especially important ones, its no contest, but that doesnt mean Vince isnt still a better dunker..Who cares if Vince, who has had no impact upon the last 10years of NBA championship history, has the edge in a category which has little importance when evaluating overall greatness as a player.

  • Larry Bird and Magic Johnson are 2 of the top 5 players in NBA history...Magic wasnt even remotely a great, flashy, or spectacular dunker, and Bird was flat out ugly if not bad at doing so, reaffirming the stereotype that white men cant jump probably until Brent Barry showed otherwise.

  • i agree they can't jump but there are few black people ever that where able to dunk better than chambers ;)

  • what are you talking about there are like thousands of peple than dunk better than chambers

  • no Jordan does

  • LMAO shut your bitch ass up.

    Carter, LMAO.

  • you talkin about dunks?

  • Tblake r you serious? Carters in game dunks in traffic arent as good as Jordans. Wow he only jumped over somebody 7 feet 2 inches IN A GAME which was pretty much known as the best in game dunk ever.

  • Look, I think my point is clear. VC is amazing, but his in-game dunks are A-Rod homers in April. The seven-footer was a frenchman, for god's sake.

VC is a wimp. He wouldn't have lasted five minutes against the Isaiah Piston's teams or the badass Knicks teams from the mid-nieties.

What I find more impressive about Jordan is that he attacked the basket and dunked when people were beating him down and playoff games were on the line.

  • MJ was a much, much by better make no mistake, but Vince's nutsmellers and slam dunk contest dunks were better than MJs dunks...When Nique and MJ went at it, Nique used a windmill on 1, and a 360 on another...Vince does both at once.

  • The dunk contest stuff they can do these days is the only part of the game this generation players have taken to another level...Other than their contest dunks, there isnt anything they do as well or better than the previous generation MJ, Magic, Bird, Kareem, etc, did.

Those guys put up better numbers at higher FG%, won much more, changed the game, and in their worst years, they also didnt sink as low, especially on a W/L basis.

  • That dunk was in your MJ mix, right hoops?

  • Actually, I don't think it was in the mix. Too many highlights to choose from.

  • thanks a lot hoops for for taking the time to write about this video it makes it so much more interesting

ps do you know mj's vertical?

  • who won?? stupid announcer!!!!

  • Chicago

  • The best. The first time i saw him ever it was against Bird & the celtics after school i went home & my brother was skipping school w/ his friends to watch MJ score 63

  • I've never spent 20 mins. watching a hoops vid; There were countless highlights here, i've got to replay them everytime! Look at how MJ's feet switched as he hesitate to change direction in 5:59!

  • great video bro! most of these peeps are right! Jordan will always be the best. its ridiculous to even debate. people forget how quick he was in his prime and he won championships out of his prime! Thats just insane! Kobe cant make his teammates better like mj could! MJ made Scottie Pippen!

  • Jordan's dunk on Mel Turpin at 3:50 was definitely amazing. I've always heard about this game and how Utah's owner yelled at MJ for dunking on Stockon cause he's short. This is the first time I've seen it. Thanks HOOPS. Honestly, can anyone really match MJ when he was in his prime? I hope when these kids, err Kobe fans get older, they see WHY MJ is the best, and why there is even a comparison to his airness.

  • VERGIN, i never said Kobe wasnt great, bitch. i just said that there is no comparison to the two. without a doubt, kobe is the best player today, but i talk about kobe fans because most of his fans are young and most (not all) of his fans never seen any MJ games, not even a REAL LIVE game. for them to even say Kobe is better is whack. i dont care what ANYONE says, i honestly think its IGNORANT as hell for anyone to say kobe is better than MJ. i guess stats and accolades lie? hmm..

  • After the dunk on Stockton, some guy yelled "Dunk on someone your own size!". Then on the next play, after his jam over Turpin, he turned around and said "Was he big enough?" Man, and I didn't realize Jordan had back-to-back blocks on Bailey! He was simple amazing!

  • I meant simply amazing!

  • indiscutiblemente que michael jordan fue unos de los mejores jugadores hasta ahora de la nba por la capacidad de definir partidos en el ultimo minuto y con tanta presion del contrario

  • Your opinion is wrong. Jordan's crossover is better.

  • It's more flashy, but not more effective.

  • First off, great job on the vids hoops.I wanna know where u get the games from, because I like to see each game in its entirety.secondly, how do you think todays defense compares with mj's era? Cause I notice that many of the fouls that were normal fouls for mj would be considered flagrant by todays standards. so I think mj would have scored even more in his prime in today's game than he did back then.

  • OMG, that was a lightning move around 4:56.

  • What you meant to say is that he is in the top 1!

  • The most underrated aspect in Jordan's game is his unparalleled defensive timing and the angles of his blocks. Thats why is probably in the top 3 in perimeter defenders of all time.

  • I made a typo in my last comment. This is a perfect example of an ordinary citizen not being able to rise up to the extraordinary greatness of an athletic marvel. What we had in Michael Jordan will never be duplicated and that is why we must never take it for granted.

  • The answer to that is something that even the deepest thinkers have wondered. He made us all dream, the way he dribbled, the way he shot, the way he displayed that trademark mark intensity, have inspired us to all try and rise to his level. The only problem with that, is that it only seems possible in our dreams.

  • What is it that made Michael Jordan so special? Was it his amazing leaping ability, that made us all wonder if man could really fly? Was it his blinding speed from one end of the court to the other? Was it his remarkable ability to adjust his shots in midair? No. What truly made Michael Jordan so special was the way he made us all dream. The way he made us smile on even the bleakest of days. Without Michael Jordan what would this country be like?

  • correction ...this world be like?

  • I love that last comment. Insane. If you are going to type a comment, make it worth while. I know you can do better than insane. If you can't than that is sad.

  • insane

  • OMG....at 07:40, MJ literally defies gravity and stops in mid-air, waits for the defender to start his descent, and releases his shot. Un-fuccin-believable! He really stops in midair for like.....1 full second.

  • Everything is good here, great game, MJ's a demon on both ends but...one minor detail...It was not Utah's owner Larry Miller who told Mike to dunk on someone his own size...it was a die-hard utah fan(who happens to look a lot like Larry). But great editing here!

  • that dunk over Turpin was one of his best in my opinion. He completely evaded the defensive player, was floating side ways then dunked the ball. dayumm!

  • jordan is so effective on the crossover move since he has really good body control and condition, awareness and quickness. he didnt need to do extra thing but just went for it with speed. and because his left and right dribble with first is almost at the same speed, he could attack anyone anytime without uncessary move. his smoothness is uncomparable.

  • hoops..thanx for saying the thing bout the crossover..alot of that pretty shit is uncalled for.looks good..but you can do just as much damage without it

  • agree with you completely hoops, the nowadays crossover is lame imo. yea it can shake people off but the action seems very contrived and forced. i just dont like that style of play, to me it seems like they are just showing off while doing it to cross people over,(cont)

  • buwhahahaha Karl Malone remembers this one!

  • that was fun to watch. the good old days

  • Amazing to think Jordan 10 years later, would score his last 2 points and final championship against this team, and on that floor(?)

  • hoops, when it comes to MJ videos, you are my sensei.

Do you have the Bulls vs Jazz regular season game in Utah from the 1990-91 season? It's the one where MJ hit a turnaround buzzer beater to win the game.

  • hoops, your version and starks23's version are complementary and put this game in better perspective. great clips of MJ playing defense, his intensity was as high defensively as offensively.

  • Awsome video as usual

  • Both

  • I was gonna post this game, but I saw someone else, other than yourself, beat me to it.

  • cool game!

  • I think he would make a fine leader for this country.

  • LOL -- Hoops or MJ? :P
