  • Well I see that Metal Box and Reel to Reel both came out November 1979. But "Death Disco" aka "Swan Lake" had been out as a single before that, and I submit that this sounds at least a little like that. Totally love this. I agree that Forbes was invaluable, I think McGee deserves praise too, nothing against Mel but I love McGee's style.

  • @hiddenfire65

    Memories are fickle !

  • This is a great track, always loved it. Great rhythm section playing. They are definitely inspired by PIL's "Metal Box". McGee and Forbes together was something special.

I'm afraid you've got your dates mixed up, this was before Metal Box. But I agree with yoor sentiments. My opinion for what it's worth is as soon as they "lost" Derek Forbes, Simply Minds were finished

  • Anyone else think this sounds a bit Talking Heads? BRILLIANT THO!!

  • Is this really over 30 years old...? Lord have mercy, it still sounds fantastic...my favourite of theirs...

  • Estos son los auténticos Simple Minds (10) y no el Dont you for get about me (0)

  • Talking Heads vs Roxy Music = Simple Minds.... Both massive influences on The Minds

  • @frankschlanker + Talking Heads = Simple Minds

  • @frankschlanker

Yes.. I think Simple Minds were also inspired by Lou Reed a lot. David Bowie

  • @sonrev its not about how difficult the base rifts are to play ,its all about how good you make it sound!

seen them 7 times in Glasgow...early years, awesome gigs!

  • Cheers

  • @sonrev

Simplicity is very often better ! Derek Forbes was a great bass guitarist, and Simple Minds went completely downhill without him.

  • Oooh I am 15 again!

  • Another good song!

  • I daren't think about how long...

  • very good selection roddy. Just as guess but it looks like you lived north of watford when you were younger

  • I've just noticed this comment after 2 months !

But you guessed right, I grew up in Dundee. But I'm not biased, I don't care where good music comes from !

Not that there's any coming from anywhere at the moment...

  • Thank you for posting this!!!

  • My pleasure !

It's a song I've loved for years but never had access to except in some horrible scratchy form, so last night I had a brainstorm and downloaded it from Amazon...with some hassle, I didn't really have a clue what I was doing !

Oops, I should have kept quiet, the "copyright police" will probably get me !!

  • Don´t worry. I won´t tell anyone!!! Promised.

  • 抱歉,但是這不是我的音樂..但會給你5點友誼評分 ;)

  • I hope that's complimentary ?!

I had trouble uploading it, but got there in the end !
