You do know that the top tax rate was once 90% - say that aloud - 90%, yet, the nation still had millionaires and America prospered. President Obama simply wants to return to the Clinton era rate - when again the nation prospered - of 39.5%, a 4% change. Why not? Europe does not still have troops in Japan, Korea, Germany, Iraq or Afghanistan, or invade others at the behest of corporate oligarchs.

The general public does not have the "right" to interfere in that healthcare. Jon used the word "deserve" instead of "right"

Bill Kristol meant civilians don't have the right to get care from the military (which makes sense) except to Jons audience that believes they deserve it.

The military only has enough resources at a low number of locations within the US that can take care of all the medical needs soldiers may require and are referred to public hostpitals and clinics. Plus dependants(civilians) of acitve duty (wife,son, ect.) are provided the exact same healthcare as their sponsor. Plus, Stewarts main point was that our govt. COULD run a healthcare system as good, if not better than private healthcare

Stewart's comments are not based in reality, just liberal half talk. Military health care and civilian health care are two totally different animals. Lawyers and politicians would NEVER let the civilians have the same style of health care (ie. no need for tort reform, medical malpractice insurance, etc.) I thought Stewart was smarter than this.

@pjm5100 I was one of those who "can't afford to go to college". I was blue collar, my dad was a NYC cop. I worked my way thru State U on loans and summer work. If you want to go to college in the USA, you can go. No excuses. To answer your question, they can "stop that cycle" by doing what I did. Working my thru university and working/paying for healthcare. Yes, where I come from, we DO have to wait for doctors!(unless if it is an emergency, then you will simply get ahead of the line)

But over all, it is the cheapest and the best solution for all! because you DID go to a doctor when there was still time! Not costing the healthcare for just keeping you alive... Keeping you productive!

- Mandatory physicals

- Mandatory HIV testing

- Mandatory Drug testing

- Physical fitness tests

And soldiers must comply to:

- Physical fitness training 3 days a week

- Smoking cessation programs or their job gets affected.

- Weight reduction programs or they lose their job.

Knowing you and your family will be taken care of is part of the package, because it definately isn't the pay.
