For me it is a compliment if you are saying this for the influence,the reference. But i dont want to be like my father,i dont want to copy him. But yes of course,i have transcribed a lot of solos,and phrases but to learn that way,because i like it. And always i am trying to put my touch,my personal developing of the music,and i always try to play what i sing in my soul,and sometimes in my soul there are some references from pat.
@camarasaurus In this particular song,when i listen your backing track,i put on my guitar without listen the original version,and without played the theme before,i am reading the paper for the first time,trying to get out of me my own version,BUT,i remember the song from first circle,because i have listened that album a lot.But i have not prepared this shot,intentionally.Trying to do a real improvisation. But man,i know i have tha music of Pat in the deep of my soul.

Even you play note by note,and with the same gear,and with the same sound,you never be like him.But that is not the question.You dont have to do that. A musiciam is the history of the music.The history of the music he has listened. The music is the evolution of the music before it.Everybody got his own history. But always the music,and the player must take his own way,and grown after this.
@camarasaurus And i am still growing. And i hope to have always the energy to grow up even more. But i dont want to copy Metheny.That is imposible. Even if i transcribe all the solos about him. But in the improvisation it is essential to learn about the great soloist,and analize,and understand what is happening.ANd yes,i do this with metheny improvisations,but also with,wes montgomery,charly parker,joe pass etc,etc... but always trying to play what i wish to listen.And also some liks.
@bobbysbackingtracks Hello Bobby, I want to say about this particular backingtrack: IT IS INCREDIBLE THE MAGIC,AND THE PUNCH,AND THE HOOK IT GOT. When i listened the track,i run to my guitar,because i had the NEED,to play over. I remembered the song,but for long time i did not listen it.
And i am reading(first time - and with some mistakes)the tune in the paper. And then i have improvised first attempt , really.Because i fall in love with the
ANd i want to remark this because a friend of mine from spain,in spanish,he has said that sound very beautiful the guitar and also the great arrengement of the backing track,and he said : "congratulations for the backingtrack maker,really it sounds good"
Muchas gracias Bat, Si esa Godin es nueva,una de mis ultimas adquisiciones. Y de la que estoy tremendamente contento.No solo Por el sonido a linea que tiene. Sino por lo comodisima que es,y lo accesible a todo el mastil,sin restricciones. Como ya he dicho en otro comentario,y no me cansaré de repetir.No pretendo que la godin se parezca a un guitarra de Palo y caja de nylon,por que eso para mi es otro instrumento,que tambien amo. Tambien he usado el pedal Aura spectrum-fishman
Que precisamente este pedal es para intentar emular mas el sonido de una guitarra grabada con micro,pero no lo uso por eso solamente.Sino por que es una buenisima caja de inyeccion ,y ademas puedo ecualizarla un poco y quitarle un poco el sonido de medios(nasales) que la linea da. Y asi se mejora un poco el sonido,que ya de por si tienen bueno la godin. Y bueno un poco de reverb en protools,y sobretodo mucho cariño en el rozamiento del dedo (y parte de la uña)con la cuerda. ;-)
@camarasaurus Ah y tambien muy importante,el backingtrack de bobby.Que ha sido el que al escucharlo,me ha dado unas ganas atroces de tocar el tema,por que te emociona y envuelve,y te engancha,lo bien que esta armonicamente y sonicamente.
thank you frank, Godin has made wonderful guitars that sounds amazing. I know perfectly that they dont sounds like a real nylon guitar ,but they got one of the best nylon line in sound,and they are extremly confortable all the neck way,and got the perfect tunning , and with them i can play things that i never play in my real nylon guitars. And i love to play both . For me is not a choose question. For me they are two differents kinds of guitars. :-)
