I feel obligated to say did anyone pay attention to her expression when she got her scores and then was on the awards podium? It wasn't gratitude or happiness - she was genuinely MORTIFIED that she placed second - it couldn't have been more obvious. Its disgusting that so much of the Japanese culture will actually be disrespecting her now as a result of her silver placement. She's so young for christ's sake - be HAPPY WITH HER RESULT DAMN IT!
My personal opinion, figure skating is MUCH harder than hockey. There's always something new to learn or pass in figure skating, but in hockey all you have to do is get the puck into the net. You don't even need to remember a routine or land double jumps.
i just went ice skating for the first time yesterday, and it is much harder than it looks to try and do those. :o
i've only learnt how to slowly turn by not moving my feet and going faster. xD other than that, i keep falling over on my knees which hurt like hell and know i cant kneel over because it freaking hurts... v_v
Of course it's harder when you're doing it! I'm learning axel, but I managed to land my axels previous season a few times. But now I lost it, but I'm getting it again! Not easy to do! 1 and 1/2 rotation on the air! I'm also correcting my lutz! I'm still on the inside of my blade and it must be the outside! Other wise it's a flip!

pretty good performance except for few technical problems. two footed on triple axel, wrong edge on lutz, and prerotion on loops. I think 63 on PCS is way too generous though it was held in Japan.

Yeah she did do very well and yeah i noticed that on one of her triple loops she almost fell. She didn't get a very good takeoff of that second jump in the triple loop but otherwise she did quite well.
The first time i see her and all i have to say is that she's the most graceful person on ice I have ever seen. It's like she's floating: You get a ballet vibe and a sense of a dancing fairy. Most ice skaters don't mov3e like this, you feel the roughness of their movements.Man, the Japanese love their ice skaters or what?
WOW.. first time I saw Asada skate, first time I know of her. She is great. I love her routine. You can feel her personality through it. Love the ending with the little jump :)
Mao looks so graceful... she is a flexible, talented girl. all her programs make you want to smile. Miki won, but there was this interview with Miki and Mao--and they said they were best friends!!!
I saw Miki ando at the world junior figure skateing championships ages ago (she won gold) and it's kl 2 see that she won but this girl is also amazing!!!!!!!!!
I was so happy for Miki when she won, but i felt so bad for Mao.... it really coudl have gone either way IMO. But Mao looks so happy in this performance... you just have to smile.

Judges and tech panels should downgrade Mao's cheating jumps.
She has been always protected by some(?) judges who have close connection with Japanese sponsors of ISU.
If you search the past results of her competitions you can find out her cheating jumps did not have any deductions from that some(?) judges.

Good, look like she really enjoyed performing here :D Her smile makes my heart feel warm.
It's funny some ppl keep coming to Mao's videos just to point out her weakpoints.
Don't worry, she knows it well and trying hard to conquer them.
In 2008-2009 season, she landed two clean 3axels in one program, the edge of her lutz becoming better, and she even regained her salcow!!
Let's watch how far she can evolve herself.

The first time i see her and all i have to say is that she's the most graceful person on ice I have ever seen. It's like she's floating: You get a ballet vibe and a sense of a dancing fairy. Most ice skaters don't mov3e like this, you feel the roughness of their movements.Man, the Japanese love their ice skaters or what?

WOW.. first time I saw Asada skate, first time I know of her. She is great. I love her routine. You can feel her personality through it. Love the ending with the little jump :)

Mao looks so graceful... she is a flexible, talented girl. all her programs make you want to smile. Miki won, but there was this interview with Miki and Mao--and they said they were best friends!!!

I saw Miki ando at the world junior figure skateing championships ages ago (she won gold) and it's kl 2 see that she won but this girl is also amazing!!!!!!!!!

I was so happy for Miki when she won, but i felt so bad for Mao.... it really coudl have gone either way IMO. But Mao looks so happy in this performance... you just have to smile.

She's very cross-eyed.
She's an excellent jumper, but in between the jumps she has no spark.
