Mr. Miaggi... "there are no bad students... only bad teachers". I am sorry; I don't believe it! These kids just don't have the discipline to do what it takes to succeed, and one big reason is "crab mentality" Watch Finding Forrester.... and SEE what happens to kids that want to excel academically.
Parents have more to do with failing kids than teachers. Something tells me those teachers got fired not because they are bad, but because they got stuck teaching the shitty kids.
While there are clearly some bad teachers, it is ultimately up to the student to pass the exams. Many just don't care, no matter how good the teacher may be. Plus there are different levels of learners, and many teachers get dealt a bad hand and spend more time trying to control rather than teach. Some kids just can't learn around other kids - it isn't always the teacher's fault.
I support unions most of the time, but a bad teacher is a bad investment for the entire country, if we pull the licences of bad doctors, we should like wise fire bad teachers before the students are hurt by thair incompadince
In all other sectors of the Economy your Job Safety, Salary & Benefits are tied to the work that you do. Education one of the most important parts of the American Economy should be no different. Mayor Adrian Fenty & Chancellor Michelle Rhee are exactly what Washington needs.
Unions have become the bane of just about every system, worker, and business in the US. It's about time someone took a stand and made this tough decision.
Its not the teachers fault that most students dont wanna take order from their teachers most student dont give a fuck and dont wanna learn but they go to school regardless. Why are teachers being punished if the students dont wanna learn and fails them??
@AlvaroAndfriends The problem is, Is that you are absolutely correct and so is Chancellor Rhee. The kids today, in public schools especially, seem to have an anti-intellectual mindset. How do we correct this situation?

D.C. is hopeless. Just examine the common denominators. Liberals, unions and culture of rampant stupidity being supported by welfare entitlements.
