  • There's nothing Burning Man about this. Description typical of a video from a fag trying to be "wild". Actually just bored trying to "shake things up"

    ALL BIKESEXUALS DIE!

  • hypocritical massholes are a bunch of self righteous dicks, i hope a motorists snaps and runs down the whole lot

  • i was biking along a bike route a couple of weeks ago & a bunch of cyclists were going stright others were turning left signalling with their arms & a car at the junction/cross roads decided to want to pass every1 at the cross roads! nearly knocking the arm of the cyclist! .......... like with anything good theree will always be silly people! so what the main folks are doing just great. helps kids know the sense of the city & that they are not alone on bicycles! cm is a great thing.

  • wow, what a negative and selfish event.

    whatever happened to "love-ins"

    hippies have lost their way...

  • I still am of the mind that Vancouverites and those who identify with them are a breed on their own!!! The inclusiveness of diversity is what is thoughtfully needed within the parameters of our l'il planet and they do make quite the effort to place this notion into motion...even if it is on 2 wheels :)

  • You are all incredible morons. Educate yourself and seriously stop embarrassing yourselves! What, other than animosity, can you possibly hope to achieve?

  • I used to think riding my bike was cool then I turned 10.

  • You sound so stupid. You must be a big loser with no life. Your picture looks like shit. I feel bad for your unhappy women, who you proably beat, that is if you even have one, considering your horrible personality. Go back to the bar, dumbass.

  • You really sound stupid. You need to educate yourself. Get a life. You sound like a complete LOSER. Go back to the bar with your crackhead girlfriend and your LOSER friends.

  • There's never a suicide bomber around when you need one.

  • Critical Mass = Criminal Massholes

  • On July 25, 2008 in Seattle, a mob of Critical Mass bicyclists assault a motorist.

"...a man and a woman in a Subaru station wagon tried to pull out of a parking spot. But some of the bicyclists blocked them, sat on the car and began banging on the vehicle...One biker punched the driver through an open window and another used a knife to slash the tires. When the driver got out of the car a male suspect struck him with an unknown object in the back of the head..."

    - Seattle (AP), July 26, 2008

  • It looks like the guy who made this video is a provocateur. Someone who wants everyone to think that publically asserting your rights is a deviant behavior. Hmmm..I wonder who hired him???

  • bunch of hippie faggots. yeah.. slowing traffic down and making people late is DEFINITELY the answer

  • hmm.... how can we be menacing and juvenile enough spoil the day of every motor vehicle operator in the entire city?.....

seriously, why don't you guys just follow traffic laws? it's not you vs. the motorists. if that were the reality you would have all been mowed down years ago.

    show some respect.

  • How can you say that when cyclists are hit and killed every year while riding down the shoulder of the road. People drive cars inattentively, while talking on cell phones. I agree with you that it's unacceptable for cyclists to break laws, but such comments sound ignorite. You don't really make your point. People riding bikes are unprotected from the dangers of the road, unlike those who are driving 2 ton vehicles. A fenderbender for a car is death for someone riding a bike.

  • i never said that i'm content with all the calamity and hazards that law abiding riders face. i'm saying that the riders of cm, or at least the ones giving it a bad name, are a bunch of immature punks who are not helping any cause.

i ride my bike everyday and i do wish that things were more bike friendly, but these pitiful skirmishes with automobiles are ridiculous. critical mass seems to want empathy, but they refuse to employ any of their own. tell me again why my comment is "ignorite".

  • You said, "if that were the reality you would have all been mowed down years ago." Like I said, every year bikers are killed on the streets due to drivers. You sound ignorite for making such narrowminded comments, as if to discredit how dangerous it is on the streets even for law abiding cyclists.

  • like i said. i am a bicyclist. and i understand the dangers of riding as well as anyone else. the point i'm trying to make is that if the drivers out there ever decide to act as childish as those who are in critical mass, the cyclists would be roadkill, all of them. so i'm telling them they need to cool it before someone snaps over their blatant disregard for all other humans. bicycling has always been dangerous. acting like a dickhead isn't solving the problem.

  • I think it would get more respect if it was mandatory for all participants to wear helmets. Also it would set a better example for kids.

    Just a thought!

  • that looks awesome! I cant wait for the Seattle CM next month. this really made me want to move to Vancouver though. Its very veggie, bike, and gay friendly, perfect fit for me. =)

  • This actually happens monthly here in the Spring and Summer. They take over most of the downtown and ride over the Burrard Street bridge in rush hour traffic on Fridays.

There are MANY cyclists and biken enthusiasts here in Vancouver, not everyone feels the need or desire to waste and pollute by using a car.

  • in whichmonth and day is this festival??

  • Last friday of evey month. i dont think our host knows too much about Critical Mass.

  • shyt these guys are like hell's angels on scooters

  • Please don't insult us like that bro.

  • they are more like bike nazis

  • lol @ a bunch of children

  • You people are a bunch of NAZI assholes that give cycling a bad name. You ignoramous I hope when some guy gets run over on these critical ass ralleys he dies in the ambulance because you assholes blocked the traffic. Try biking to the ER you Klepto fascists

  • Matthew1776 don't you mean "CRYPTOfascists"? Get your labels in order before you peel and stick sir.

  • If they really wanted to make a statement they would take their elitist circus out to the highways. Then it's game on!

  • Globalgringo, CM took to I-80 in Berkeley two months ago, believe it bro. The video is here on YouTube.

  • Basic common sense is not demonstrated when you put yourself in front of a heavy and fast moving piece of metal, eventually it can only result in death or severe injury.

CM orangizers will be held liable when people start dying.

  • I doubt they'll be held liable as it's hard to determine liability in a privately organized event with no figurehead. They could try and go after their main website but that only provides information as to how to go about organizing this.

That said, I don't want anyone to die, but some of these people deserve some type of injury. Fuel prices will reach a point where more people use alternative methods of transport, no thanks to critical mass.

  • Has someone done some articles on how rising gas prices are making the concept of suburbia unworkable?? Who can afford to live 30, 50 miles from where they work??

  • Is there any way to use the Critical Mass format to address other social problems? Like Homelessness, Voting, buying non-corporate.. ??

  • no its just for disrupting traffic

  • See BUCKYSTEIN #7 the Critical mass parody.

  • BURN THE CARS!!!!! GO CRITICAL (MASS)

  • in massachusetts, cops give riders a really hard time, trying to take away the riders' rights. it's total abusive power.

ride on, riders! keep riding in a rotary! whoooooooooooo!

  • just an excuse for hippies to slow down traffic and piss off people just trying to go about their business.

    this shit should be outlawed.

  • I love the concept behind Critical Mass. Unfortunately I don't have any bicycle riding community here in AZusa, California. The nearest is Los Angeles -- which is too far for me to bicycle.

Unfortunately we need cars because of the way our cities are designed around cars, not people or bikes.

Check out my YouTube channel, BTW. That's why I love CM.

  • Too right audible67,makes me ashamed to be a cyclist.

  • Critical Mass riders are demonstrating for and working for bicycle-friendly transportation engineering so that mothers can feel safer taking their kids to school on bikes. It is an objective of many of us to make cycling an easier choice for folks to make when feasible.

  • Think of it as several hundred selfish, misguided hypocrites on wheels.

  • CRITICAL MASS....about 90% of them are dirty, unwashed, unemployable university drop outs with zero career prospects who cannot even afford to buy a car, so they just annoy the people who do own cars.

The other 10% are dumb sheep & naive drifters who get sucked into joining these events...

They should all just stay at home, eat more mung beans, smoke dope and continue having hopeless dreams about socialism one day taking over the world, just like Godzilla will too...

  • Well I'm not sure about your numbers because I was there and I am certainly not any of the things you described. Each to his own, great idea isn't it!

  • We have these "Critical Mass" bike rallies here in Australia too....and they typically are same "rent a crowd" that turn up to anti-globalisation, anti-USA, anti-big business, anti-capitalism rallies.

Then they go home and surf the net on their PC, use software made by MS etc, log their appointments on their PDA's, use cell phones made by Nokia/Motorola etc, and fly to other greenie rallies on jet airliner's built & owned by huge multi-national companies.....such shallow hypocrites.

  • Well just for the record, I like to ride a bike and would like to see more people do the same. I use a Mac don't own a PDA. More bikes and less cars is defintely not a bad thing.

  • Yeah, I own a pushbike and a car, but it isn't feasible for me to ride a bike back and forth across the city in a suit to attend meetings, nor to go out on a bike to attend dinners or business functions, nor to travel to friends houses, nor to go out shopping etc etc

Bikes are great for exercise and localised travel, however for the vast majority of people with families its totally unfeasible to expect them to sell their car and ride bikes everywhere...

  • On that we agree. I own my own business and so i can go in a bike outfit if I want and I had a shower put in many years ago. Not everyone has that option I realize.

  • Yes, thats why dumb clucks blockading the roads at peak hour serves no purpose....there obviously ain't too many doctors, lawyers, veterinarians, engineers, business execs etc in Critical Mass, because those occupations understand it isn't feasible to pedal everywhere in their jobs. Fine to ride if you are a clerk in the local library or stack boxes at Wal-Mart, but biking every day to work doesn't work for the great majority.

  • " there obviously ain't too many doctors, lawyers, veterinarians, engineers, business execs". Yea there is, a combination of rail and cycle can be used by the majority in many countries.

  • Yeah sure Urbanmanc, I'm a civil engineer, so I'll just pedal in my suit 25kms across town to check out the new bridge, and pedal 25km back to my office, and then pedal 15km to my next appointmenmt, and then 20km to my next appointment, by which time my suit is both soaked with sweat and ruined....then I'll get fired for wasting time by commuting in such an absurd manner.

  • Many meetings are a total waste of time and can be taken via the web using 'conference' . Clearly many people will need the use of a vehicle whilst AT work, there needs to be a change in culture and attitudes, in the UK 4million use a vehicle to travel less than 4 miles to get to work ... thats not acceptable.

  • Yes UrbanManc..."many meetings are a total waste of time". Including site & building inspections, medical / legal appointments, job interviews, client briefings, meetings with other engineers / architects on various mechanical / civil engineering issues etc.

Possibly you schedule pointless, meandering meetings, but I make sure mine are valuable face to face discussions with my clients / colleagues. And I live in Australia, not the UK, so I don't give a toss about their commuter issues.

  • " legal appointments, job interviews, client briefings, meetings with other engineers / architects on various mechanical " ALL can be planned where the minimum use of private vehicle takes place.A change in infrastructure, a change in working practice, a change in attitudes.

  • I agree. I am from ME where there is a huge rural pop. & cycling is just not feasible. Still theres a larger point people are missing. The movement is not just about cycling, in a broader sense its really about reducing pollution and the consumption of petroleum. And there are lots of things families can do to participate in those goals...get rid of that second car, carpool more, recycle, etc. Thus, even if you cant devote yourself to a bike theres still many things families can do.

  • " its totally unfeasible to expect them to sell their car and ride bikes everywhere ", then you formulate a culture and system that makes it feasable.

  • Just because people support CM doesn't mean you cant use PC's, there is no correlation.

  • Yes Urbanmanc, there is a correlation because Critical Mass in Australia is full of anti-globalisation, anti-USA, anti-big business fruitcakes who all need a shower and a shave.

( Mmmm....I wonder where they think their shiny bicycles came from ? Do they think they grow naturally and fall off the "bicycle" tree, or do big business make them in Asia ?? )

  • CM is full of many different people, from the far right, to the far left and the majority with politics inbetween . Using a PC is not contrary to their politics, and I'm sure nobody minds buying cycles that come from asia .... if the workers are paid a decent wage.

  • Well, the Critical Mass crowd here in Australia all look like unshaven, unemployed mung bean eating "rent-a-crowd" demonstrators. Red & yellow mohawks, dreadlocks and rastafarian hairstyles tell me there ain't too many business people on those bikes....

  • " And I live in Australia, not the UK, so I don't give a toss about their commuter issues. " ,Well there's a surprise, lets face it, you don't give a toss about anything except yourself. The CM you descibe in AUS is not typical, maybe you're looking at it with a blinkered ignorant viewpoint.

  • The only dork's in this video are the people in their cars and the viewer watching this video and you know who you are!

  • dorks who think they are cool LOL

  • dorks who think they are cool LOL

  • Dork as in? Get a life instead of passing judgement on others

  • yep.... every last friday of every month... leave at 6h00 from the art gallery on Georgia street downtown

  • yes in San Antonio too, every first saturday of the month.

  • Burning Man on wheels? That's a horrid definition.

  • Burning man? Only if hes got a bad bikeseat! :)

  • as a proud cyclist my heart beats faster watching this

  • In most cities it's every month.

  • Hi,

Yes you're right it is every month here as well. However here in Vancouver June is Bike month and the huge critical mass ride is the last Friday of June. For an unorganized event it's amazingly cohesive. I filmed this years as well but haven't edited yet, maybe next week. Thanks
