  • Joe Riggs manager has a nicotrol inhaler. That's the only way to quit smoking, easy.

Just make sure you smoke when you first use the stuff, then you withdraw slowly, no problem.

  • Is that Dennis Hallman at 5:08?

  • One of my favorite throws. Good stuff!

  • cowboy karate vs horn jitsu? umm what the hell?

  • Throw at 4:30

  • Did he injure his back? He looks conscious, but hurting. How did the story go?

  • What is this throw called?

  • @Leendoncasti harai goshi lol

  • damn... all riggs does is get KTFO

  • Beautiful throw. Good technique and well timed. Forced his opponent to land badly and I think he crushed the guys wind pipe in the process when he landed on him. Awsome Technical Knock Out. Its a technical one because the loser was still concious when the fight ended.

  • @871kicker He was conscious, but he probably didn't wanna be...

  • @knuklo Do you know what a knock out is?

  • fight starts a pi

  • the judo throw goes down at 4:34

  • Why do they check your eyes, what do they actually do? are they like..

"Yup, that eye is still there and the other one seems to be still there"

  • @DiigitalX Checking your pupils to see if you have any sign of brain damage, such as a concussion.

  • @pshieldsy Why would you have concussion or braindamage before the FIGHT? lol... wouldn't you get your self checked out before you inter the cage? It's just stupid...

  • @DiigitalX Ohhh, right, before the fight. Well, there is always the possibility of PEDs which would also affect pupil dilation. Also, one of the guys at my gym got knocked out in training and fought a week later, which was really not a great idea, as he then got knocked out from just a jab in the first round.

  • @pshieldsy I guess you've got a point there :)

  • That's why it's important to learn to fall.

  • @FUBAR956 Learn to fall? He had both his hands locked up. That KO was unpreventable.

  • 4:31 the throw

  • cowboy karate vs horn jitsu, kkkkkk LOL

  • If this guy knows 'Cowboy Karate', then I know 'Gun-Fu'

  • That was a solid throw. That guy was in some pain.

  • That throw knocked the wind out of me!!

  • fight starts at 3:16

  • Cowboy Karate?

    Horn Jitsu?

    WTF???

  • fight starts at 3:14

  • don´t tell me who win!! tell me at what time the fight start!!!

    3:10

  • very underrated base for MMA

  • Is there an equivalent to this in BJJ? If so, what's it called?

  • @deek77 Honestly there isn't much close except for some sweeps, if so then look at some kempo.

  • @BroskY250 I see, thanks for that.

  • Helio gracie had a good defence against being thrown by judo players... and that was simply to let your body go limp and mess around with your own center of gravity

  • @dacreeguy I'm not trying to troll or anything but if you watch Helio Gracie vs Masahiko Kimura (a judoka) you"ll see Kimura throw Helio twice. I do agree with your statement however about going limp. Thats the best way to avoid being thrown, make the other guy use his strength to move you.

  • now a question to all the judo practitioners. if you were the fellow who had the double underhooks, what would you NOT have done so you wouldn't have gotten thrown like that.

  • @piggypoo You would try to block with your hips and maybe take him backwards, but stuff like that is hard to see coming and hard to stop if your against someone good.

  • Awesome throw, but rather crappy "KO", dude giving up just like that. Maybe he got his breath knocked out and panicked or something. Oh well. Why is the audio mono?

  • @arakhnist It is sterio, but the right channel is very weak.

  • judo winz...again!

  • what makes it so deadly is the speed gained from the twist of the throw then also you have the guys weight on top crushing you down on impact !

  • I love the guy smoking the cigarette as he waxes him up

  • What a beautiful Harai Goshi. And it's known that if you do this correctly, that may cause paralysis. I love JUDO from my first training !!!

  • Imagine that on concrete....UGH!

  • judo is so deadly.. if it was concrete i'm pretty shure he would have been paralyzed

  • @tinbergjames Yep, you're right. I remember this. It was after he had back surgery, which obviously didn't hold up very well. I was a good throw though.

  • Con todos esos tatuajes parecen macarras salidos de la carcel :D En cualquier caso, muy buen harai goshi

  • wow beautiful judo throw!

  • This video lasts 395 seconds and the fight lasted only 90 LOL

  • @JudokaCedenho 391 seconds.......go back to school

  • ahh judo...the 'gentle way' lol JUDO all the way!!!

  • It looks like some of the shock of the impact went through Rigg's liver and probably knocked the wind out of him - badly.

  • Not a ko at all, he just got his organs fucked up from the throw and tapped out from the pain.

  • Uchimata

  • @Absurdalec14

Its Harai Goshi. Uchimata is between the legs.

  • it looks like the blonde guy wasnt ko from the fall but from the fall plus the punches

  • Cory's tattoo is weak

  • Where's the KO?

  • Dawn

  • Judo fucking owns!

  • When I was a kid I thought judo was rubbish. But it's really grown on me and I think it's an amazing skill and is very helpful in mma. And a street fight aswell

  • @378Daniel It has saved my life :-)

  • @378Daniel I have the exact same thing, i used to do it until i was 12, tought it sucked, now got into mma in 2010 and now going back to my old gym next monday I just started to love all forms of grappling period^^

  • @arthu16 watching mma that is, i;m too much of wussy to compete in actuall mma ofcourse:P

  • @arthu16

if you thought it sucked (no offense) maybe it was the school that sucked? You should consider finding a better dojo that you would enjoy more. When I was a kid the Sensei's would be very 1 on 1 with you and caring of their students. We played fun games at ends of classes. And they made sure to always get us into tournaments and compete which was the most fun part......

  • @378Daniel

When you were a kid you should have gone to a Judo class and found out for yourself. If you went to the best dojo in your area with the local champs you'd have gotten your ass kicked. Came home bruised, scratched, rashes from the Gi being pulled all over your neck. You'd get literally thrown over peoples heads and choked unconscious like I was (well maybe not choked as a kid). And you would have loved it because you'd feel yourself getting stronger. I guarantee that.

  • @378Daniel really agree with you ^^

  • Comment removed

  • @378Daniel

    Same here LOL

  • Beautiful!

  • Straight hip bone to kidney... Epic. Never seen anyone tap from a throw... and thats why I do judo :)

  • rigs landed right on the kidneys

  • He desserves KO this for his terrible tattoos...

  • Judo is the Best

  • Cowboy karate!

  • why not start the video at the beginning of the fight and not 3 minutes before it starts?

  • How someone sad judo is the easiest when done correctly and yeah hes right you can slam twice youre weight if you know how to

  • If you stop on 4:33 you can see them in the air.

    Amazing KO

  • Harai Goshi TECHNICAL knock out. And I think the triple hammer fist had something to do with it, too.

  • @clipophile Maybe, but I think the throw was what did it. You can see it's his back that's hurt the most shortly after being thrown.

  • If more MMA fighters learned to work with judo this throw wouldn't have been so easy.

  • Joe tried to use brute strength to get separation. Devela wisely switched from double underhooks to what wrestlers call an "over under." With an over under its a lot easier to control a much bigger guy. Riggs was basically hanging on for dear life and walked right into it. Thats why it ended up being so bad.

Riggs is a striker and BJJ guy. A wrestler would have put up a serious defense

  • Epic

  • This throw is as old asl humankind

  • Judo is the best!!!! And one of the easiest if done properly!!

  • @Mu5ic5ong Yeah because its not all about strength.. its mostly about technique. lol and that throw was a perfect example.

  • Judo FTW!!!

  • that was some sick ass harai goshi

  • ki pancada kkkkkk

  • gay tattoos cost him the win

  • wtf how can you get thrown when you had the guy in a bear hug? take wrestling 101 dumbshit

  • @mezi011 i never took wrestling why shouldnt u get thrown when in a bear hug? just wanna know..

  • Good switch from inner reaping to Harai Goshi. Ippon!

  • Judo is awesome

  • once again intelligence won uncontrolled power...

  • Awesome throw, but wtf is cowboy karate and horn jitsu? Did they have to fill in a form and they made fun of the "martial art:" field?

  • skip to 4:29 to watch the throw ! thumbs up

  • Nice! And Cory lands in side control.

  • More like a Harai Goshi.

  • i threw my brother with harai the other day flat onto basement floor... he stopped fucking with me XD

    judo for life!!

  • Riggs' shoulder was already injured, thas why he was tapping.

  • judo4life

  • If that were concrete..........

  • @19thaman79 hes liver would be coming out his r sole!! not even mortal kombat could compete with that!! lol

  • this is not harai goshi this is something like it.in harai hand goes around neck to the chest and here hand goes under his arm

  • thats not a knock out he just got hurt

  • @A7X16 If you cant countinue its a KO/TKO

  • riggs is always gettin knocked out

  • 5:56 you can hear joe riggs moan LOL

  • ive just achieved my first dan in judo. and that is plain and simple harai goshi. the leg doesn't have to come up miles for it to be harai. look at nagi no kata there is only a flick on the leg there

  • For sure that was definitely a Hari Goshi.i should know that's the throw i specialize in

can be lethal if executed well enough,as you see in this fight.

who said Judo wasn't any good in MMA.

  • @maxree10 nobody says that. it's very good for mma, the only trouble is doing some of the throws cuz of there being no gi. and this throw wasn't "lethal". painful? very! lol

  • @lucky5th2

It made him quit... on MMA canvas/mats.

If that was concrete.... jesus I can't even imagine what the damage would have been.

  • @ThatOGDon 1st, mma cages are not that soft. 2nd, it still wouldn't of killed him.

  • is the ground hard in the cage or its a special mat?

  • @enkhbattsenguun Usually cages and rings have the equivalent of a wrestling mat underneath them.

  • @enkhbattsenguun along time ago it was special mats But they changed that along time ago to much harder mats which is used today in strikeforce/ufc so ya Some Nasty back injuries

  • Of course that was a Harai Goshi...

I hate people trying to act smart on youtube, I've done Judo for years and I'm currently a brown belt (1st Kyu) And this was a perfect example of a Harai-Goshi, one of my favorite throws.

  • @HabboTeck It was a sacrifice throw, so Harai Makikomi I think

  • @redwarrj1 lol how do u mess that one up? it even says harai goshi in the title

  • this is so NOT hari goshi. this is more of a koshi nage. in hari gosh the leg comes up.

  • It was a Harai Goshi, not a Hane Goshi or a Osoto Gari.

  • Cory's hip going into Joe's side looks to be what did the damage!

  • Now imagine a well executed Judo throw like this or any other for that matter, done to a clawed assailant, which adds more impetus and momentum, and on concrete, side walk, stairs, ash-fault! It could wind up being fatal for the receiver. A fast, intense, powerful Judo throw on the street, especially landing on any of your shoulders, head, back could easily cause a concussion, paralysis or even death. A skilled throw can come explosively out of nowhere surprisingly.

  • Comment removed

  • Man, I know that feeling all too well lol

  • For those of you who want to just see the throw skip to 4:30

  • @MegaShabadoo The throw in slow-motion. 5:48

  • @MegaShabadoo thanks for the heads up mate. it was a shit fight untill the throw.

  • Judo, the gentle way...

Slam the bejeezus out of me...but gently...

  • gentle like a wolf tearing the face of a lamb.... gently..

  • ok what is cowboy Karate??? Im genuinely curious.

  • ippon at 4:34

  • That was a pretty weak throw. Well executed, but it looked like he didn't exactly explode into it.

  • @eddit Some would say that to "explode into it" would be a waste of energy. Clearly, the technique was effective & all that was needed. Judo is called the "gentle way" due to it's philosophy of restraint & avoiding excessive force which may risk unnecessary injury, or even death.

  • Fight starts @ 3:15

  • wow the harai goshi is the best!

  • very nice how he executed it pefectly.

  • OMG its Guy Mezger coming out of retirement!

  • do those fighting styles really exist? horn jitsu and cowboy karate?

  • Briangunn21, the world is lost even. BJJ is blind leading blind. Wich pure BJJ fighter beat Yamashita,Tany Tamura or Muneta (pure technic), for exemple. BJJ can be more popular than Japanese Jiu Jitsu, but not more effective than brazillian and japanese JUDO. The big masters of Judo knew everything about jiu jitsu too, much more than the Gracie´s (sucks).

  • im impressed..i thought joe was gonna walk through him

  • that was beeeeeuuuuteeeefuuuul!

  • The Prodigy is awesome at getting you pumped for action.

  • Because of the position I feel this is not harai goshi but rather harai makikomi. He began the wind with his hip forced only because of the lock, then he (went with the fall), sutemi waza, for that superior position. His pull and kuzushi began with an over the arm lock as well which further makes me feel this was harai makikomi or in jujitsu soto makikomi. I do not like MMA, many fighters intend to injure the opponent and are very dishonorable. Cory Devela however shows that grace is superior.

  • @ForwardsAbsolutely mma has pretty much become a breeding ground for douchebags but there are still many fighters who fight honorably for sport and not just brawl for their bro's to admire

  • @ForwardsAbsolutely I think you're right. Harai Makikomi I'd say.

  • i love harai goshi, it just looks amazing! by the way its not an ippon...

  • Brazilian jiujitsu is a joke. The Gracie family call sankaku jime how "triangulo" and say that they created that. If Gigoro Kano could see that he would teach the truth!!!!

  • @salvorhardim brazilian jujitsu sucks so much that its more popular in Japan than Japanese ju jitsu

  • BJJ is diluted Judo. Gracies did not invent anything.. It is insulting that the Gracies say that they improved on an art derived from the samuray killing art. After several centuries, The samuray developed a superior martial art.

    Now imagine gettingthrown on concrete..

  • BJJ is diluted Judo. Gracies did not invent anything...

  • @samuraiz77 unnessesary.

  • Kock out?? or back injury?

  • its how deep you commit into a throw that will give you that power...

  • Nice throw, but this is a lower back injury-Period. Devela seems to have good base but Riggs must have been nursing that back previously. He had double underhooks and he's a wrestler but didn't try a takedown with any power. Devela owned him with the throw though.

  • PS That was a left Harai Goshi just to add. Very nice.

  • o soto guruma is done behind the opponent, this was a turning throw, halfway between tai otoshi and harai goshi but I'd call it a harai goshi because of the body contact

  • @imameatcom Yeah, harai goshi. Watch the way Devela lifts his left leg to complete the throw. With tai otoshi, the foot stays planted.

  • looks like O-soto-guruma in my opinion, might be wrong.

  • looks like a modified O-soto-garuma, just my opinion though.

  • that wasn't a knockout, he hurt his back when he got slammed. you see him grabbing it right away after

  • Ippon or ippwn? Hahaha

  • 1:24 YOU ARE NOTHING LIKE BRUCE BUFFER

  • @Shadow2271 And you're nothing like Bruce Lee! *^)

  • It looked like the throw made him tap out, I tell you when you nail a judo thrown and ou don't know how to fall it can be very painful. On that note Joe diesel has always been a subpar fighter

  • Comment removed

  • Its a modified Harai Gashi, where instead of throwing from the inside with his leg he did it in that situation from the outside....almost like a osoto gari, but with enough hip movement and position to be a type of Harai Gashi=NICE

  • That is one sweet harai goshi...

  • Seen that throw coming from a mile away.

  • Seen that throw coming from a mile away.

  • HARAI GOSHI - sweeping hip throw. not uchi mata(inner thight throw) not ippon or moroto seio nage (you dont sweep with either, feet together lift with the knee's) and definately worth an ippon!

  • @rabidlama in harai goshi it is a hip throw, hence goshi and the foot is just a guide for projecting power of throw. the foot those not sweep the legs but i am sure you know this.

  • @rabidlama in harai goshi it is a hip throw, hence goshi (Sweeping Hip Throw) and the foot is just a guide for projecting power of throw. the foot those not sweep the legs but i am sure you know this. if not it would be an ashi-guruma (Foot Wheel) or an soto-makikomi (outer wrapping around throw), we called it a tornado in our club because once you got caught it was hopeless and only destruction followed. japan judo, japan judo workshop, Sensia Shiina 8th dann Sensia Julio Hernandez. Thank you.

  • @lallope harai goshi (sweeping hip throw) you do sweep with the leg, after lifting in an o goshi type throw - harai (sweeping) goshi (hip throw) .ashi guruma is not a hip throw, its similar to tai otoshi only with foot raised slightly. and is nothing like soto makikomi, which is a sacrificial throw , but I am sure you knew this?..? in our club we call it by its name so people know what you are talking about...

  • Ippon!

  • @tremizzy3 ippOWNED!!

  • 5:20 peace and love?? wtf
