@TheZykk On the bonus disc for Last Dog and Pony Show he hinted that he would do something like that but so far seems content with outletting pure acoustic stuff in this manner. Someone should try to get a hold of him and suggest it directly.
I would love to see a movie made about Bob Mould's life. I listened to Workbook almost nonstop, later Sugar and his solo recordings, and even had a chance to say hello once at a solo show at The 40 Watt. I enjoy and admire his music yet like too many people, I know too little about the man.

I always thought that one reason he never got the attention and success he desrves is that with the harsh music and the affectation of pain in his voice, the uninitiated have a hard time seeing the irony, emotional growth, and showmanship in his words. They're turned off by the superficial negativity. This could be said of any number of bands that deal with the same subject matter. I believe this is why Bob felt moved to write the song "Along the Way".
By the way, I actually like the harsh music and affectation of pain in his voice. It's a great dramatic affect. Just like a great number of songs that rock (which has it's roots in the Blues, after all) has produced.
Thanks heaps. I just looked up his tour dates. I owe you big time otherwise I would have missed it. He is playing 11th February at the Annandale. Thanks again.
Not power chords, really, well C and D are indeed power chords, then he plays them again but with the A and G on the E string as "bass". Then the chorus it's Asus2 (play it like this x02400) then B,
G, Asus4, Csus2 and Dsus2.
Then the "you understand this is part beyond our reach" thing is G, C, G, D twice, then it gets crazy with A, D, G, and C, and sometimes B. He seems to play whatever he wishes on that part

It would be nice if Bob'd just record a whole album just like this. An acoustic, a microphone, his voice, his words, and nothing else.
schmittelt 2 years ago 19
Wasn't that called Workbook?
withears 2 years ago
No. There are drums, electric guitars, bass, keyboards, cellos and whatnot on Workbook.
schmittelt 2 years ago
@schmittelt Good point. I would buy the record you describe.
