I saw this on animal planet. There are pretty amazing. They start as small worms or something and they grow big lol. They are in coral and the make their homes in the coral. On animal planet the guy couldnt figure out what happened to his plants and stuff so he looked under every rock and a 5ft long centipeed came out haha. Anyway, nice vid:)
This looks like a Eunicid worm rather than a bristle worm. I too would recommend that you kill it dead. Bristle worms (for the most part) are amazing tank citizens. Eunicid worms this big tend to be the kind of citizen that eats all your corals while you aren't watching.
I saw one in california and tried to capture it, but when it's leg grab my fingers and curl arround it i got freak out and drop it. after wards i killed it cut it to pieces and use it for fish bait.
wht a freaky thing...harmless but ugly XD i dont like it looks like it could life of my body..like a parasite or something...in the end it will go in your mouth ...how are these worm things called?that life inside your stomach?freaky..
@worId they have jaws allright, I know so, cause i feed my with shrimps, and he grabs them with black jaws that comes out from the mouthpart, and i have been bitten by a smaller Norwegian counterpart..
so I know they can bite pretty bad, and some species of bristleworms(fireworms) can be very poisonous
Thats some stupid things you did it can be beautiful and why do you kill it when the worm done do someting to you man MLGKarma its right That give you bad karma man.....
kill it!!! Every time I see disguisting worms like that I just want to kill and hurt them badly. I love animals but I cannot stand worms. Especially not monster-worms.
when they get big you should sump them, but when they are small they are great cuc, almost 100% of reef tanks have them with out even knowing, most bristle worms only come out at night and hide very very well in live rock. unless you are planning to smash your rock to pieces before u put it in ur tank, you've no chance of stopping them getting in!!! :) happy new year x
Eunice (family Eunicidae) worms are a group of bristle worms (class Polychaeta). Not all eunicids grow huge, and not all of them are dangerous to other livestock. For those who want more info, google "the large worm turns by ronald shimek", which also talks about fire worms.
No choice, i don't want it either but you can't get em, it hidden inside the rock.......i am waiting for it come out, it already 8 month......it is harmless. Just feed prawn every week, it will come and get it
is it a bristle worm or a eunicid worm? i thought mine was a bristle worm, but the people at the store (once i caught it) said it was a eunicid worm, and they can grow to 50 feet
What a cool pet! What do you feed it, though?... I heard about a huge one that was devastating a coral tank in an aquarium-do you just let it eat the coral?
Don't do that, they are the symptom of salt water in you aquarium; if you could not maintain salt water level they will died off very soon! they just like a coral or coco worm.
they are no harm to your coral, rack and fish! i kept one is already 6 month with me!
you are right, when i first saw it, it scare me! i thought a centipede drop from roof top!! the actual size of the bristle worm is 3 and half metre!! i have put back it to nature hope it will survive......but there still a grandson in my rock........
No worry, there is a place near to sea, peaceful and natural, with rock and coral in our Singapore. But you need to drive half an hour to reach there! this is what i can do for her.....just want her to survive......

One day that thing is going to flip the lid of your tank open and go on a killing rampage murdering everyone within a 50 mile radius.

That demon made me throw up. I would get rid of it before you throw up from it and it kill your fish.
You may like it and that is fine; however most people will vomit seeing it crawl around deviously.
