First time hearing this song and artist, but i can easily see how she won the mercury. clearly a very talented artist, meaningful lyrics, and good beat selection. Clearly passionate about her art, and not trying to fit into pop sensibilities.

Not to take away from speech debelle, from what i've seen shes a very talented artist, its just a pity that it seems only non-threatening female rappers can win prestigious prizes (L. boogie at the grammys)

She says everything on the radio sounds the same. She should say every track on her album sounds the same. Music on the radio in most part is fixed by genre to each station. ie dance, chill, contemporary etc. but some stations do play a mixture. She may be write in part but their is still a wide selection out there if you change channels. We certainly will need to change from her C.D. if we don't want to hear music that sounds all the same. How this won The Mercury's is beyond belief.(2/10ALBUM)

I think she's right. All that's played on mainstream radio-stations is generic pop or 'chart-music'. Which wouldn't be that bad, if they only played something other than those 20 songs on repeat. I can't really judge on Ms. Debelle, as I've only just heard her for the first time, but at least she seems to be doing something different. something she has put feeling into and not just something to have an instant hit.
