It's amusing people equate speed with greatness. Just like shredder guitar players, being super fast is not a sign of technical greatness...especially speed on the double bass. Too many styles to say one is the greatest. While I prefer the Cozy Powell, Simon Phillip, and Tommy Aldridge styles, I appreciate the Buddy Rich's and Terry Bozzios big time. I even enjoy basic time keepers like Phil Ruud of AC/DC, who minimizes fills.

I've been drumming for 5 months now. I started actually trying to play double bass about 3 weeks ago. I've had a double pedal but i never actually really tried to learn it. I've doubled my speed and endurance in 3 weeks. Double bass is all repetition, it does not in anyway shape or form make you the best drummer, when Joey Jordison can sit down and play Buddy Rich's drum solo than i'll look at him differently.
