can you help me how can we separate female from male? is't too hard to understand by looking their heads or tails. can you help me it's too imprtant for me!!!
For your information there are frontosas that have 6 bars.. Look it up .. Some have 7 also but dont say they dont have 6 cause they do .. depends on the species
you mean to say they wont get along with other fishes? i have here 5 african chiclid 1 green terror and 2 frontosa in a 50 gal tank. i put a drift wood for territorial for them. is this ok tanks...
no need. male would normally have big hump wait about when it is 3-4 inches. frontosa is not like flower horn fish. i got 31 of them in my tank and they are about 4 inches. also if u have other fish with ur frontosa make sure it doesnt get harrassed by other fish other wise the hump wont come out. make sure he is the dominate in the tank.

Yes. But if u have them together since they were small i think is okay. Because frontosa fish distribution is from Lake Tanganyika and there are others african chiclids mostly from malawi Lake. Malawi chiclids are normally more aggressive then Tanganyika chiclids. They might bite the frontosa fins. For me, i would prefer the same chiclids that are in the same distribution or smaller chiclids that wont grow as big or bigger than frontosa.
look what up? if u mean frontosas species are originated from central american, you better look it up again because all im talking about was frontosas. these fish are from "lake tanganyika" which located western border of Tanzania in africa.
I was responding to your Green Terror comment. I have both species. I know where they are from. You look what up. What kind of speech is that. Green terrors are Central American. If you notice my comment is under your green terror comment.
well srry i didnt notice it was under my old comment. the comments was actually in the first page. because youtube have changed their commenting system which i dont like. further more green terror are distributed central and northern south america. which we are both rite.
don't be stupid, the Burundi frontosa are callled burundi because thats what region of lake taganyika the same with the prized zaire variety of frontosa. My point being is that they inhabit the deep waters of lake tanganyika. you're making yourself look extremely void of any intelligence.
dude I have no idea what you are talking about. I did not say anything pertaining to your rude comment. So don't you be stupid. I know where Frontosas are from and I know they come from waters up to 200 feet deep and I know that the lake temperature remains constant throughout the entire lake. Wow, see I do know something. They also are fish predators and eat at night, DID YOU KNOW THAT SMART GUY.
oh dear, I do appologise, because of the way i have the text comments setup it looked as if you were correcting someone on frontosa and thier origin. It did confuse me a little as you have videos up of your tanganyika setups, and yes fortunatly i do. Again I appologise, one is tired of bad fishkeepers giving miss information so hopefully you can understand why i said what i had. You don't look as if your getting on with many people on here either. good day to you sir.
thanks for the advise. i dont know now where will i put my african chiclids. you gave me problem hahaha. what is the size of your tank? are all of them is frontosa?
my tank is 6 feet long and 2 feet wide and length. Yes all of them are frontosas species in my tank and i also put 2 suck catfish to eat the algea along the sides of the tank. i got 4 zaire kitumba and 6 Mpimbwe the rest are burundi. these fish lives in a colony so i put only the same species in my tank.
wow that was great set up.. did you breed? i have only 2 ryt now, how i wish i have the same like yours. by the way do you have account in monsterfishkeeper?

Frontosa has 7 bars not 6. And none of Frontosa counterparts have Frontosa in their scientific name.
