  • The song was originally done by Joe Valino of South Philadelphia and sold over a million copies.

  • OMG, i haven't slept in like 5 nights, i cant eat, i'd be smoking & drinking hard, but i quit. I'm playing the same sad songs over & over, not my first lesson in the blues, so, at least no tears this time....yet...

  • There is also a great version of this song by Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong

  • This hit by Ol' Blue Eyes hit #2 on the Top 40 charts. It finished at #14 for the year 1955. On July 9, Bill Haley and His Comets hit #1 with Rock Around the Clock, signifying the start of the Rock Era. This hit by Frank Sinatra was ranked at #5 when Haley's hit went to #1. So Frank Sinatra was a part of Rock History, like Perez Prado, Nat "King" Cole, and Les Baxter.

  • this man had a heart throbes voice and he was handsome from young frankie to old blue eyes :D Im 30 and I grew up loving him and dean :D

  • This is the tenth time I've heard it. <3

  • "The Dharma Bums" ch. 21 brought me here!

  • I'm still a teenage ruffian, and I've already decided that my kids are growing up on Frank. Period.

  • Excellent!!

    Grandma mary

  • I was raised on this. I do a humble tribute version of it, but there's only one Sinatra and his orchestra! Regards, '62 Mathew St. (Total Retro Rock)

  • where is the video that used to be on here for this song? is it the sinatra family taken franks videos off you-tube again.dont they know this is a self harming exercise that they are doing.the more people SEE and hear frank, the more the story goes on

  • That initial vamp, with that muted trumpet in diminuendo, always gives me goosebumps.

  • long live the crooners the time of class and manners

death to rap showing no class whores and bad lyrics which people use illegal ways to make money

frank sinatra will live forever, within us the crooners will never die

  • everytime i go to the bar i play this and being 21 alot of the older crowd really questions how i would play such a great tune, and to respond, i would say that just finding out about this song has made me really wanna try more in life, i really can say that i miss her and will continue my journey without her, peace to everybody,

  • This video is posted on Facebook page called "Golden Tunes - Sound of Oldies", so if you have fb account and some time, check it, i guess you will like it :) Page is for everyone who like like warm cozy sound of evergreen music.

  • Happy Birthday Frank Sinatra (December 12)

  • This is recorded after Frank supposedly "ruined" his voice with cigs and booze. We should all be so "ruined". Frank is the one and only greatest, period. Bubbly doesn't even come close. RIP Frank.

  • Brilliant......no one compares..........I love Mike Buble and he's good however I don't know how you ever can replace Frank.....Can't happen. Giant......I love this man's voice.

  • Brilliant......no one compares..........I love Mike Buble and he's good however I don't know how you ever can replace Frank.....Can't happen.,

  • What a great recording! I remember when it was released in fifties; I played it until the record was worn out. It seems so fresh and new to me after all these years.

The arrangement and Sinatra's voice couldn't have been better!

  • You know how i spend my Sundays? Smelling classic perfumes and listening to Old time jazz.

  • It's so true, Frank.

  • One of my favorite songs. Love Frank.

  • Brilliant Writing! and Frankie's timeless voice! * EPIC SONG ! *

  • i have a love-hate relationship w/ his songs like them....they're just so good you can't help but love them, but when you've got a broken heart the ones like this just make it worse and you hate the feeling they give you.

  • now this is talent sinatra ftw

  • "The cigarettes you light - one after another, Won't help you forget her - and the way that you love her"

Damn i love this song AND Frank Sinatra. (no homo)

  • i would make a deal with the devil to be able to sing like him

  • ***** !

  • simple outstanding ! a legend till time ends!

  • Wonderful video. He had such an awesome voice and was so talented. Thank you for sharing. Nadine

  • God what a voice, my late fathers first Sinatra song he took to, after that he was hooked, and why not, simply the best of them all .... brilliant.

  • @MrStruth some of the renowned singers like Perry Como, Vic Damone, Tony Bennet, and Britain's est Matt Monro had admitted-- they hardly can do singing the Sinatra style, so they sought to do songs on their own style. You're right. He's simply the best. He once said, "You can only be yourself". That's the man. That's Sinatra. He he he. Tonny Bennet had once recorded the Sinatra swings and he confessed..."only Frank Sinatra can sing like Sinatra".

  • This goes down so good with a double shot of Scotch and a cigarette. Mmmm.

  • can't agree more....

  • @LosAngeleno1959 agreed, Not the same with a bottle of blue nun and a roll up haha. Heard this played many times but none better than blue eyes

  • My mother and father saw him in person when he was in his "slump" - ca. 1954 (just before his comeback in From Here to Eternity). Anyway, he hadn't lost his charisma. The lady next to my mother said, "Spit on me Frankie...I'm in the front row."

    My best wishes to you,

    trooper7h

  • HAHA; glad to hear i am in a good company, though hes actual an ordinary man, no, i mean i like especially his kind of singing, his voice especially in his 40- ties and 50ties years and his humor und natural manner. :-)

  • @gfkd11 ..AWESOME..!!!!

  • It seems that every day brings the blues

  • love and respect man

  • his song speak the truth, he's been there more than once. another sad break up song is Drinkin' Again.

  • i guess that's what makes his songs really great^^ He knew what he's singing bout

  • yeah, because he's gone through it several times i'm sure. i bet one of these songs was based on ava gardner.

  • I've been feeling those blues for over a week now... Frank understands them perfectly here... Thanks for posting it, I needed this sad song.

  • Frank in his prime was untouchable.....This cut, though not one you'll hear played often, shows what a great interpreter of song the man was. IMHO, only Elvis was more versatile....The king could do anything; gospel, rock, ballads.....But Frank is my all time favorite singer....THE VOICE will live forever.....

Thanks so much for posting Trooper...

  • bobbyd218,

    Thank you for your comment.:)

The 1950's didn't start too well for 'The Voice' and he had some serious problem with it...But Frank came back to make that decade one of his most prolific and fertile in his recording & filming career.

    Best wishes,

    trooper7h

  • God I love this version of the song. Such an awesome bari sax part!

  • UltimoDestructo94,

  • Thank you so much for posting this.

I worked in a shop once where they played this to tell the workers that it was only half an hour till closing time. But in truth, its another winner for Mr Sinatra. Such humour in the lyrics, too.

    Thanks again

  • toinettearea7,

Thank you for your comment and sharing that memory with us.:)

    Best wishes,

    trooper7h

  • My pleasure, trooper7h :-D .

I much preferred the music played in the shop to the clothes I was obliged to sell. The playlist had Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Dean Martin, Louis Jordan, The Andrews Sisters, Judy Garland and other singers of the post-war swing era. I am a child of the '70s and knew few of the singers, let alone the songs, sad to say.

Thanks once again for posting these for us.

  • an amazing song by an amazing man. thanks for this trooper

  • asskickerANDco,

  • trooper7h, Wonderful selection to celebrate the one and only Sinatra. Do you have These Foolish Things recorded by him for Capitol in the 1950's? I'd love to hear it again. Learning the Blues is one of my favorite Frank songs. Thanks for posting.

  • Thank you for your comment. :)

I do have a copy of Frank Sinatra singing 'These Foolish Things' but unfortunately the sound quality isn't very good and I will not post any tracks if the sound isn't 100%.

However, I will keep looking for the right one. :)

    My best wishes to you.

  • Did he write that song ? this melody is a pure jewel, check please if u didn't the duo ella and louis version, hope you will like it.

  • Source; Wikepedia

""Learnin' the Blues" is a 1955 popular song by Dolores Vicki Silvers.

The best-known version of the song was recorded by Frank Sinatra in the 50s, which peaked #2 at the Billboard charts. He re-recorded the song for his 1962 album, Sinatra-Basie.

    I hope that helps.:)

    Thank you for youe comment.:)

  • It doesn't get any better than this. Period!

  • If it does get better ...I haven't heard it yet...:)
