@MrArleymarley I am sorry to have disappointed you to such a great degree, both as a drummer and as a comedian. Your comments have placed me on a new path in my direction as an artist. Thanks.
@GuitarGare Well, yes, John Cage is a big influence on me and my music. But I would not call it plagarizing because if you are any kind of a player you are aware that everyone learns from their predecessors and builds on the shoulders of the greats. Would you say that every rest or tacet in a musical a composition becomes a plagarized Cage copy? I am flattered that you thought of me in the same frame of references as Cage though, I appreciate it greatly. Thank, GuitarGare!
@ChicWebb thanks for making my morning, and thanks for being the 'anti-showoff'. If someone dumps yet one more truckload of facility in my lap on facebook via a youtube link of some fetus playing the 1 minute waltz in 10 seconds I'm going to scream.
@GuitarGare You are very welcome! I do have truckloads of facility types of YouTube posts on this channel, but they are videos of my actual practice routines on a pad rather than a show off solo on the drums. They are for students of Stone who could use an example of what the stuff sounds and looks like for real. Chops are to facilitate music, not ego. You are very correct in your thinking.
Check out the drum solo "Confused" to see an example of my solo work.
@ChicWebb I'm a guitarist first, but played on the road as a drummer in 1980. For 20 years, I used, and still do, just the first page of Stone stick control. The difference was, via an idea from Graham Lear's teacher, Lou Donders, was to switch a limb for a hand. e.g.- right leg lead for a paradiddle, left hand, with a four or eight constant either on hat or ride. It's a humbling event. I'm just a meat and potatoes small kit player.
@GuitarGare Meat and potatoes pays the bills. Chops keep you in the house alone. Your version of SC is excellent, but of course only 1 of many many ways to apply it. I do it it as written, with 4 bars of ex then 4 bars of 1 hand between each exercise, then 2 and 2. Playing an 8th note ostinado and playing the left hand parts or the right hand parts, then play the parts against the ostinado using 2 limbs between hands and feet or just feet. Then you can do it as is but in triplet form. etc..
@ChicWebb I will squeeze this in between 11 different repertoires on guitar and vocals...lol. When you're done rennos down there, come up and clean my house. ♫ ☺
@TheRandolwithDena So I take it that since your criticism was totally personal, it was because you couldn't find anything wrong with the integrity of the solo?
Ahahahahahahahahahahahah

THIS IS HILARIOUS! AND YOUR RIGHT, BECAUSE IF THAT WAS THE ENTIRE SOLO, IT TOOK LESS THAN A SECOND TO DO IT! VERY FUNNY AND COOL!

Except for when you HIT the snare, I'm sure you would have been plagiarizing John Cage. "Check's in the mail, John..."
