@13Heathens will you be so sure of yourself in your dying moments, please believe for i have felt the power of god , for your own sake do not mock him amen
@MrFollowingjesus You're assuming I've never died. I've done it twice, actually. I should add that it was during surgery. So don't waste your time with such an idiotic invocation in hopes of driving a person to false beliefs based on fear. Your claims are clearly as empty as your beliefs.
BTW; You should have said "You don't know anything" ... When attempting to claim another person is ignorant, you may want to double check your word usage. First you make a "nearly every country" claim, then you assert the ignorance of the American people. 10 seconds on Google can verify that your claim is incorrect, unless you've decided to manipulate statistics in order to further your own agenda.
@MrFollowingjesus that's a load of BS, but I suppose you're as entitled to invent your own statistics like the rest of those who prefer to lie in order to promote their faith.
@13Heathens : I think this squirrel could very well be your transitional form. The brain capacity is obviously similar. I'm glad you used a Muslim as an example of how belief in a false god can have catastrophic results. The ditzy blonde you use could be an example of how non-living material has slowly evolved into a living thing. In a few million years, Barbie may have the same brain capacity as your squirrel ancestor.
well, no shit there's no connection between the curan and science, just like there's no connection between winnie-the-pooh and internal-combustion-engines
I actually think winnie the pooh has more relevance with internal combustion engines, than the quran and bible does with science... apart from the animals all talking, the bear not eating the children and so, but one of the WtP books featured a moving car
Kirk and Kent unwittingly did a good thing, as people who know these guys are hacks, are unlikely to get this book but it's a chance for some people who believe their bullshit to read the actual Origin of Species
Yes! Let's do it! I don't usually stoop to the level of the evangelical whackjobs out there when I'm refuting their nonsense, but I'm ready to write a totally disrespectful and insulting intro to their damn holy book; I just can't believe this latest crap, and maybe I'm ready to fight fire with fire, so to speak...
@jerico641 It would seem that hurling disrespect and insults at anyone who holds beliefs that differ from your own fucked up view of the world is a way of life for you. How sad. Intolerance of those who are different is a sign of a sick mind.
If Toyota handed out 50,000 free Nissan cars at universities, and included a 50 page addendum to the owner's manual, which stated that Toyota's cars are better than Nissan's cars. Would this prevent 50,000 students from snapping them up? No!
Toyota = Lose
Nissan = win!
50,000 students = Win!
Ray and Kirk are about to hand out 50,000 copies of this book FOR FREE!
Aaah, but what if those cars had been altered by Toyota so they didn;t actually work properly? Would that be such a good advert for Nissen?
The problem here is not just what Ray Comfort is adding the book, but what bits of Darwin's original works he is going to be tinkering about with, revising or discarding completely to suit his own ends.
Ben Stein selectively quote mined Darwin for his propaganda video "Expelled", I would expect no less of Comfort.
I agree 100%, at the moment that Ray starts tinkering with the actual text itself, then of course that is another matter. But so far we have only seen the PDF of the foreword/addendum. I've read it, and it's a joke. And I can not believe for one minute that students of such prestigious universities - as included in the list - will fall for it for one minute.
In addition, even Ray's worst intentions and efforts won't change anything we know about evolution today.
first off because evolution isnt a replacement for religion and secondly he would lose alot of peoples interest in ever learning about evolution or science in general
but what he doesn't realize (fyi because hes a dumbass,) is that everyone in our country will be so dumbed down to such a point that our fucking country will crumble. if creation would make it into schools in the place of science and math it would only take one generation or less for our countries future to be in ruin
Did you know their is proof that Hitler actually believed himself to be the 2md anti-christ. He read Nostradamuse's predictions.... he saw the whole hister thing and he idolized napolean. Makes you wonder... If Nostadamus predicted nothing or if his work didn't survive such a long time people might not have died.... which brings me to another point the bible lol how many people wouldve lived out their lives if that was never written? how many societys wouldhave, crumbled?
Correction, Darwin is not mentioned in Mein Kampf.
Sorry, but here's some Creationists crap from Hitler...
The most marvelous proof of the superiority of Man, which puts man ahead of the animals, is the fact that he understands that there must be a Creator. - Adolf Hitler, Hitlers Tabletalk (Tischgesprache im Fuhrerhauptquartier)
I didn't know Creationists were so insistent with their unprovable and unbelievable (in my opinion) belief system, otherwise I would have paid more attention. Changing Origin of Species is wrong, they don't have the authors consent or the right to impose their views on others. They can express their views in other ways...
The edition they were originally peddling on Living Waters is missing chapters. They're calling it an "abridged" edition.
Comfort later confirmed on his blog that it would be the complete work (though likely still the first edition). Can anyone point to the confirmation source of the version they'll actually be handing out? I'd love to call Comfort a bald faced liar.
I am confused. Did he add a 50 page forward to the original text OR did he alter the text. There is a HUGE difference. I thought I heard in this video that he altered the text.
What bothers me the most about Ray Comfort is that he's always talking to teenagers & undergrads - the impressionable who often haven't developed critical thinking. I would love to see him in a debate with Christopher Hitchens or Richard Dawkins, who don't have to be respectful of his bullshit or polite when he threatens their souls. No no no, he doesn't have the cahones to stand up with the big boys, he picks on the kids. Disgusting.
Dawkins told comfort he wouldn't debate him unless comfort donated 100,000 dollars to Dawkins charity. Basically it would give credit to Comfort to debate Dawkins and that wouldn't be good.
Comfort couldn't even handle the rational response squad or Thunderfoot. He is so below dawkins.. I can't even think of a proper analogy.
I hadn't realized there was a TF/Comfort debate - I'm watching it right now and getting increasingly irritated every second. So at least Comfort has taken on a fully developed, mature adult for once.
And I have a good analogy: Dawkins v. Comfort would be like watching Dawkins shoot a gun and Comfort catchind it with a baseball glove.
When I watched that debate it felt like Comfort wasn't a person but a tape player with preprogrammed responses. He can't deviate from his normal speech and doesn't even hear what TF says.
The rational response debate was very good too. When he says when you look at a painting he holds up a poster. That says it all for me.. If you don't see the difference between a painting and a poster...
Yeah I'm in the middle of part 3, and I have to say - Comfort is a novice debater, he would be useless without his precious notes. Anyone who thinks they can walk into a debate about creationism and answer every question with "I know because God says so in the Bible" is not being objective, not thinking critically, and never going to win a debate. Ever.
I skimmed Comforts 50 page intro. After the life history of Darwin it starts with Ray's same old rhetoric:
"Consider for a moment whether you could ever believe this publication happened by accident. Heres the argument: There was nothing. Then paper appeared, and ink fell from nowhere onto the flat sheets and shaped itself into perfectly formed letters of the English alphabet."
"It's like a book with multiple personality disorder -- two parts that absolutely hate each other; an intro that is the inane product of one of the most stupid minds of our century, and a science text that is the product of one of the greatest minds of the author's century." I first saw this over at Eric Hovind's blog. A couple of us actually asked thie same question of what if we wrote a forward to the bible.
Some stuff to include:
Hitler was a Roman Catholic, not an Atheist.
He was a Creationist not an "Evolutionist"
He accepted LaMarkism but thought man was specially created.
He denounced Darwin in published works (Mein Kampf vol2)
Darwins publications were included in lists of books to be destroyed.
