Well, though I could be wrong, it seems pretty apparent to me that the violin part is a backing track. They may have added some backing to their voices at 3:02 as a sloght precaution, but for the most part, I`m pretty sure it`s all them.

strings are, the rest is not...you can't hear the keyboard as clearly on the record and guy's bass after the first verse is slightly different. Also the drum at the chorus is a bit different in sound, almost a little detuned. Jon's guitar sounds different not as clear after the first chorus. Convinced? :D

Yes, great song, but don´t forget: This is performed half playback. Only lead vocals are sung live, the rest comes from a player. I´m curious about how they´re gonna solve the problem on tour. Muse for example play almost every single tone live (at least on the last tour).
