@papasmurf486 Depends on what year of truck you have, what size of engine and what kind of sound you are looking for.
If you have a new truck, you might want to look into a complete system, maybe stainless steel. If its older get a MUFFLER SHOP to bend one up for you. A general shop will do a poor job usually and it will leak and sound bad.
Your exhaust pipe diameter will depend on your engine size. Don't go too big or you will lose a lot of torque.
@griffin86666 If you are looking for a loud truck or a rapping sound, look for glass packs like cherry bombs. There also generic brands. This is the cheapest route. If you want it to sound like a muscle truck, kind of like mine. You might want to look into magnaflow or flow master.
Just remember go to a muffler shop because it will save you a lot of headaches and they can recommend whats right for you. Also don't forget about exhaust tips. Stainless is a little more but way better.
@ModXowned Unfortunately when you add dual exhaust on it lowers the value of your truck and reduces the number of people who would want to buy your truck. I didn't regret doing it. Just make sure you find a good shop to do it or it will look and sound bad.
damn sounds nice, my 97 serria with the 5.7 350 is nice true duel with a 2 in 2 out flowmaster 40 but its not loud enough for me every says it loud but i whant it louder any hints or tips?
Get straight pipes and/or headers if you want it a lot louder. My friends '96 sierra 350 with glasspacks was way louder than my truck. I would say try a pair of glasspacks first, if you go straight pipe it might sound like an old farm truck. Some of my friends got their glasspacks louder by soaking a rag in diesel or gas and burning the fibreglass out.
Well you could get a ticket if you don't have mufflers. When I was in high school, cops would come and check everyone's trucks and give tickets to those who didn't have mufflers. I like the sound of mufflers better even though it sacrifices some noise.
@griffin86666 i put my out the sides and i havent put the chrome tips on them yet but im thinking i screwed up on that lol dont think they will last to long on gravel roads ):
@youdragon you can get some long tips if the exhaust pipe is chewed up from gravel.. I think mine were 18 inches long. That's why they are angled at 45 and not right out the side.
It is true duals from the motor back. No cats, no Y pipe. The 5.3L is not as loud as the old 5.7L. Also the camera's microphone doesn't make it as loud.
if u dont mind me askin how much did u pay for ur exhaust on ur GM and did u go to like a place like Midas or somewhere local? and yeah i heard Corsa makes a good system but isnt as loud as a flow or a magna...but yeah keep me updated with what u do with ur 08 cause trucks...i mean i love trucks i would prefer a sick Sierra or F series over a mustang as weird as that sounds haha
Well I went with a custom one in my home town. It cost about 750 bucks and I bought 02 Simulators for it but they never worked. So I returned them and the refunded me like200 bucks or something like that. But before I sold my '99 I bought a different set of 02 Simulators for 80 bucks and they seemed like they worked.
u did a good job with the sierra...sounds awesome...i mean if ur gonna get exhaust then go all out and get the duals right?! and do u got after mark headers on there?
Thanks! I would get stainless steel tips first off. I would get what ever you like. I didn't put headers on, I didn't want to deal with them leaking. I had a buddy who put headers on his truck and they leaked. I heard Corsa makes a good system if you don't want someone to custom make you a dual exhaust. I am thinking about putting a Corsa sport on my 08 but it would cost about 1300 atleast.
its not that bad when you are the driver.. passengers tend to complain a little bit. at about 50mph it resonated in the cab bad.. so you had to speed up for it to die down. Just crank the tunes and you won't notice.
ok and how was i supposed to know that! Wow...what did your jeep come stock with then we can actually determine who would win...nice picture you fat fuck maybe if you lose some weight your jeep wont have a low center of gravity and can just roll off a cliff haha
I think it was about 750 when I added 02 simulators but I took them off.. I think it would be about 500 without.. I bought stainless steel tips and mufflers.
sounds good when u get on the throttle, but is much too quiet at idle, in my opinion id have some flowmaster super 44s or original 40s, but nice truck just the same
That sounds awesome, it has a nice rap to it. Usually magnaflows are smooth and they don't rap like that. Awesome.

does putting on new exhaust tips actually do something sound or performance wise or are they just for looks?
mxfreak613 1 year ago
@mxfreak613 I am pretty sure it doesn't do anything for performance. It's mostly for looks but I am sure it would affect the sound too.

I did get rid of the cats. You wanted the model number on the cats? Or the O2 simulator?
griffin86666 2 years ago
@bnorby69 Sorry I never saw your post. I can't remember the model of sims, it was years ago.

with ur tips at 45s how bad did they get beat up-- i have straight baxk on my truck right now and was thinking about doing 45s
98k1500z71 2 years ago
It wasn't too bad. Like the bottom was dented up pretty good, but they were stainless steel so no worries about rusting out.
griffin86666 2 years ago
ok yeah i have stainless steel to and i have mud flaps on the truck so that might help to
98k1500z71 2 years ago
Its really not that big of a deal, the biggest problem I had was keeping them clean. The tips turned black on the edges.

put true dual straits on it all the way from the motor back. its a thousand times louder

It has magnaflows so it is wide open, straight pipe would be louder I know. But the truck is gone so what ever.

Nice truck---I've got a '99 Sierra 1500 with a flowmaster exhuast on mine.
Yours sounds better, though!!!

Thanks!
griffin86666 2 years ago
How many miles on yours? Did you buy it new?
banther1972 2 years ago
I bought this truck when it had 50,000-56,000 km on it from my grandfather. When I sold it, I took this video and it had 126,000km on it.
