In the year 2011, ad companies will realize that 90% of the people watching 90% of the crap on the internet don't have real jobs. Then, they'll realize that the dude ripped on crystal meth who's just watched his favorite episode of the Shaytards for the 100th time doesn't have any money to spend on a new car. Or that when people click on the google ads, it's usually because they were looking for porn and clicked the first "legitimate" they saw when somebody else walked into the room. Truth.

The Prankhouse concept is interesting, but the roll-out was not executed well. The Ecomagination roll-out has been well organized and timely. Heck, the "Supernote" contest has been promoted far better than Prankhouse. I still don't know what Prankhouse is even about, other than possibly controlling a paintball gun and nailing a YouTuber (which costs money). Nothing really "grabbed me" to research it any further. Most videos mentioning Prankhouse seemed to rely on a website to give any details.

Pre-rolls and pop-ups are extremely annoying (and most of the time they take forever to load). Product placement can be quite entertaining when creatively done, but obviously it's kind of hard to arrange. I noticed a couple adds in boxes that activated at the end of videos. The problem there is that most of the time people don't make it to the end of videos...

One of the best advertizing campaigns I have seen recently on youtube were those Underwater cameras that were advertized last summer. That was really the only recent product I wanted to buy.

Marketing can be fun, but it usually sucks. I've read thousands of commercials in my broadcasting career. It's just so wrong to tag a 30 second spot with the ever vacuous, "that telephone number again is....." or "Jerome's Hardware on Main St. For all your hardware needs"....

Sadly, Prankhouse and this other one, Ecomagination whutchamathingy are pretty superb, engaging and fun. Lots of work

Online video advertising is the bomb. I think Prankhouse is great, there so on top of their game, even offer the application on Linux, that I use. And the goat is by far the coolest thing, Iv ever seen, but You still have to check out my ShaCarl & Nalts TeaCup pig video. I hope Nalts makes it out there for the next season.
