There is no longer a population of Eastern North American cougars at all- but, there ARE cougars in the that area that have been released or escaped from their exotic pet owners. Thousands of people have pet cougars and if even a couple had escaped through the years, they can smell eachother from many miles away to meet up and mate. So there is a small Cougar population, but they are not Eastern North American cougars, those are all gone.
i love mountain lions.....from afar....waaaaaaaaaay waaaaaaay far. it is a creature capable of chewing off my limbs so its best to keep a respectable distance. but they are magnificant creatures.
I saw a cougar in upstate New York when my friends and I were going to a Pantera concert in Utica. It was chasing a snow hare and it was the dead of winter and I just remember seeing its huge, fat tail flying around and it was FLYING! It was like something you'd see in Africa, except we were in upstate New York. One of those experiences Ill never forget!
we got mountian lions in northern virginia, well the goverment says we dont but they full of crap, i even got one behind my house that passes by every summer hollerin, sounds like a girl screaming
Lilticklez you have no idea what these things are really like.... We run about 400 head of cattle here in the mountains of N.C. and they kill about 12 cows and 16 baby calves in last year now thats look at about 10000 dollars that those lions have costed me and one almost killed my son when he was 14 walking to his tree stand you better believe ill shoot anyone of them i see.
Opticslave, Where do you live in NC? I just moved to Sylva and I was told they "dont exist" in the Western NC area. I asked a friend of mine who actually took a picture of one in the area and he said people didnt believe him because they "are all gone". I'm curious now.
At least get a few dogs, that stops any cat, or fire cracker shells if you see them, that frightens them off, and will usually not return. Or build a higher fence that isn't barbed wire, as things with holes don't really work. It might be costly at first but if your loosing $100,000 a year it kill probably pay for itself in a year.
It is better then killing somthing that you probably respect. Like they did take 28 cows from right under your nose.
It is not a crime to protect yourself and your personal property. If it takes a bullet or two to take care of the problem, then so be it. Get over it!! I am sure that if you ever encountered one of them and it decided that you were going to be its meal, you would do the samd damn thing!!
srry ... but if that was 2 me then let me tell u that i would be honored to be a cat´s meal, i wouldnt care if i die just to feed one of those things (means that i would never hurt a cat, not even to save my ass).
Humans are much more cruel and vicious than animals, they seem to get a great satisfaction out of inflicting pain to animals....animals do it out of instinct survival. If you are going to post ever attack by a mountain lion you should also post every attack by humans. I am less trustful of people than animals, and also post how many people children included are killed by people.
It is very scary when a person is attacked by any animal, unfortunately these people are probably animal lovers and good people, very sad...they should attack the cruel people who torture them in circus.
Humans encounter more attacks by their human peers than by animals. In the history of California there has been only 15 attacks by mountain lions, yet 85 mountain lions have been killed by humans.
...well... i really dont like mountain lions... please dont call me a looser or lame or whatever for saying that as that happens all of the time and it is a ver sad story why i hate them :(...
yes that is true and thank you for saying sorry as on another video with mountain lions someone started yelling at me for saying that. i was confused.

Hunting of them is a sick and horrible evil.
There is NO validated reason to kill one. We kill about 2 thousand of them a year and since 1900 they have killed a documented 8 people.

I'd love to kill one with my gun and then make a rug out of it to put over my fireplace

I'd like to suffocate you with mountain lion skin and put you IN my fireplace.
