  • Love it. So different from my Ferrari V12's. Wonderful marque, Maserati. Love your Ghibli (if it's yours), we should meet up some time to compare with my 330GTC!

  • Love it

  • flat plane crankshaft?

Interesting question. A Maserati Ghbli V8 has a Crossplane crankshaft. It's heavier and more balanced then a flat plane crankshaft like in a Ferrari 308 or Cosworth F1 engine. The flat plane crankshaft is lighter so the engine is able to rev more. The Maserati V8 engine can rev only up to 5000 - 5500 RPM , but it's torque due to the much heavier crankshaft is enormous. It's 480 NM.

  • @HubAndre Crossplane crankshaft is the only way to get real "V8 sound". Italian v8s usually have flatplanes, this is why there are italian v8 fans and american v8 fans. I used to belong to the second group... But I must say Maserati did good job designing this thing:)

  • @HubAndre ...and why are there so many italian cars with steering wheel placed right side?
