...they were never punk rock. I dont know what kind of punk rock you listen to but you might have it mixed with the definition of indie, which is death cab.
Relax, it was a joke... he was probably just referring to the fact that the performances back then were really lo-fi, noisy and loose which is almost "punk" COMPARED to the more pristine Death Cab of today.
Hey, it is actually a fender bullet, now out of production but were made in the 80's. If you can find an American made version of it, they are comparable to the really expensive guitars nowadays. Ben, however, has the Squire version of this guitar which still has a LOVELY sound and plays great because it was when the Japanese Squires were being made to sound almost as good as the American, almost identical wood and pickups and such, just a lighter kinder to the piggyy bank.
