I honestly don't think that this piece can be played too quickly. It's not meant to be some delicate, esoteric piece (ie, not like the first movement). It's meant to be raw, fresh emotion. It's played quickly enough here to also lend a frantic air, and that's player's digression. It's their emotion that's put into a piece, and while Beethoven might not have intended it to be played EXACTLY like this, it isn't just HIS piece. It's also the piece of whomever decides to play it. It's theirs to own.
