No swing I am afraid. Guitar comping is heavy, and makes the whole thing sound stiff. You can push the band if you swing, but you can kill it if you don't. Although tempo is kept, it sounds rushed and robotic. Compare with Nat King Cole for example playing Tea for two.
wow, this is awesome!!! i must say, that i dont like this old swing guitar rhythmen on every beat, i am more into the new more pianistic comping, but anyway the guitarsolo is just awesome. i would love to see this guy live. thanks for uploading my friend!!
After Oscar Peterson Trio(with Barney Kessel or Herb Ellis) this is the tightest trio(swinging and playing) I`ve heard in my life, and I`m 71 years old.Simply the best
It feels like great forward momentum to me, if you play a lot of bebop, you gotta push to get that feeling, and yes it does sound like its rushing to the untrained ear. Even when learning to play like this it can be difficult to feel everything so far up on the beat, but better this than dragging - especially in bebop (i.e. faster than 250). GREAT SWING guys! Thanks for posting.
@PezEspada listen to freddie green's pocket on faster tempos. He really pushes the beat, that's what contributed to Basies' perpetual beat. I don't think Martjin is speeding up at all, but he's really pushing the pocket with his comping. However, listen to the bass player, they are in complete rhythmic synchronization.

This looks like a television broadcast of some sort. Does anyone know where we can see the whole session with more tunes, or buy a DVD?

seems to me they're rushing (?), specially the Martijn's four to the bar rhythm...

@PezEspada Then simply compare beginning and ending and notice that it's the same tempo. Maybe you just don't like fast tempo's.
