When you saw this "Special Presentation" Clip you knew something good was coming on...CARTOONS AT NIGHT!!! Kids these days don't know how good they've got it
Either that, the Muppets or Fat Albert. That was the only time we could talk Mom into staying up on a school night to watch it because everyone knew these cartoons only came on once a year. No DVDs, no Cartoon Network around to loop the same show every two days; you had a lot of explaining to do at school if you missed it the night before.
Yep. She's been with WJLA since '95; she was reunited with her longtime colleague, Gordon Peterson, in 2004 when Peterson left WUSA for WJLA. They now co-anchor the 6 p.m. news there.
Maureen Bunyan was on Channel 9 for the longest time, she shocked viewers when she abruptly left in 1995. The station had some talented people working for them back in the day, and she was one of them.
Egads, I remember those voice announcements during the "Special" logo. If it was an award show, the guy went on about portions being pre-recorded and being tape-delayed in time zones and things like that. Every once in a while, they went on forever before the program could start, showing a blank screen until the disclaimer was finished!
I remember back then when "CBS Presentation Speical" part came on, there was no announcement after that. They will then show Charlie Brown cartoon or other specials. Anyway, the presentaion have always been my favorite part before any other features. Thank you!
I don't think I've ever recall seeing that Charlie Brown special when I was a child. There are many Charile Brown Specials I haven't seen on TV in over 15 years.
It is today. The prior calls were WOIC (from 1949 to 1950 - originally a sister station of New York's WOR-TV), then WTOP, followed by WDVM, and now WUSA.
I definitely remember the "CBS SPECIAL PRESENTATION" from when I was really little! And "Good Times" being on CBS! As well as "All in the Family", and "Alice"...among others.

@kstarpictures That sounds about right. You forget about something and then see it again 20 years later and then it's,"Oh, yeah! I remember this!"

Good Times? They're living in the Chicago projects with "Ned the Wino" downstairs. Doesn't sound like "good times" to me!

Good heavens your CBS logo is crystal clear. This may be the best copy of it online.
raposofan 3 years ago 4
The clarity's astonishing from when it was taped in 1976. You must've did an excellent job perserving that 30+ year old copy. :D

Pat Canal (sp.) doing the voice-over for the end of the Good Times promo.
Not sure who did the V/O for the CBS Special Presentation announcement.

It might have been Wally King, another CBS staff announcer.
