  • The manager Bertha Franklin conspired with the whore Elisa Boyer to steal Cooke's thousands of dollars and hid his clothes. Cooke realized this and demanded the woman's whereabouts Elisa was instructed by Bertha to call the police outside, after Cooke found her in a back room and was shot by Bertha while she beat him in the head with a broom to make sure he was dead. It was so convenient that Evelyn Carr was on the phone to over hear all that took place. It was deemed self defense .. bull crap.

  • He just nails this song. It's smooth and buttery. He is such a remarkable singer; what a voice. Ah! <3

  • I can't understand people clicking the "dislike" button. This is beautiful

  • Tucan in the small rib cage :) <3

  • Love the Music selection !!!! Great for a Sunday morning!

  • i cant hear it :(

  • @Ogeterdone46 never mind fixed it:)

  • What a VOICE! Laudy Lord! I can see why so many other great musicians copied his stuff.

  • @mdelair420 it's called gospel not negro spiritual that name is ( i think ) not worthy for the beautyful genre it is :) i know allot of gospel songs were covered by allot of artists :)

  • What yr (yea) did he sing this in?

  • Sam knows.

  • Sam Cooke had such a tremendous range of emotion and absolute soul. He sings this sad spiritual as he has indeed lived the words he sings. Certainly, the Georgia of his boyhood was a very difficult place for a young Black man to grow up in. Sam Cooke was a true artist, genuine in his emotional expression. With his tragic and untimely death, we all lost a consummate singer. Fortunately for us, his voice and music will live on forever!

  • Nobody knows....

  • Anyone remember when Princess Vespa sang this while being detained in Spaceballs? Yeah, Sam sang it best.

  • Nobody knowes my troubles. We are having trouble down here Lord and all over your world.

  • Yeah, nobody knows the troubles you've seen, just let them know the greatness you've achieved!!

  • Merry Christmas my friends ~ God bless you all.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

  • sometimes I'm up and sometimes I'm down oh yes Lord you know sometimes I'm almost to the ground oh, oh yes Lord still nobody knows the trouble that I've seen nobody, nobody knows my my sorrow nobody knows the trouble that I've seen glory hallelujah you get there before i do oh oh yes Lord don't forget to tell all my friends I'm coming to oh, oh yes Lord still nobody knows the trouble that I've seen nobody knows my sorrow nobody knows the trouble that I've seen glory hallelujah
  • I OVERSTAND !!!

  • nobody knows my sorrow. love that. i am 18 years old now and i am sure this is one of this songs, which will be with me through my whole life.this song brings me back sad, but in fact beautiful memories. i can imagine what i will feel when i will be listening this in maybe.. 2060? just.magic.

  • no body knows: :) my sorrows omg !!! so true the trouble ive seen in m,y 34 years

  • they just don't make music like this anymore.damn <3 I'm 15, but gosh I wish I was raised in this time period.

  • im only 23 but i can recognize beautiful classic music...that younger people now adays dont ever care to listen anymore

  • Beautiful Song.. With Beautiful Vocals..

  • sam just had it truley the best of the best.like johhny cash if he sang your song he owned it.there are some real speacil souls every so often.peace

  • 19 people twitched while trying to click 'Like',

  • @Sovnarkom Yes! The power of Sam Cooke's voice they meant to click like.

  • who would dislike this ? who?

  • @shavemypubebeard troubled people

  • Give a Thumbs up if you dont like those who gave a thumbs down to this!

  • he is th best singer ever walk the face oif th earth.iadoure every bit of is song god bless where ever he lay his heah

  • ##Nice song/// <---

  • The sweet raspiness in "If you get there before I do"...better known as 2:12-2:19...so many 70s and 80s artists tried to emulate it.

  • Sam Cooke came right out of the Baptist church and sings from the depth of soul. During his time, black men could tell you something about 'trouble.' So when sings about it, I believe every single word he sings!

  • we know

  • Zazu from lion king sang it better?

  • @808fuka96786 no.

  • @808fuka96786 Lion King? Is that where you listen to good music?

  • @808fuka96786 zazu is a cartoon character. last time i checked they only exist on film. so find out who disney payed to sing it in background and you can listen to his version.

  • @808fuka96786 -Poor guy i truly feel for you.

  • hah....just nice :)

  • This is my 3rd cousin on my dad's side, never knew he was this amazing... i guess that's why my fam has some pretty goodvocal talent

  • sam has more emotion and feeeling that i ever heard from a singer. he is singing how he feels.thats why i love him and think hes the best soul /R-n-B singer ever.what a tragic loss. could you imagine the songs he would have made in the latter years.its like hendrix what if he had got a chance to rule the 70's,what a monster he would have been.damn that crazy women who shot him,i hope her nipples fell off and other various parts as well.

  • @mdelair420 Sam Cooke was the #1 influence on Steve Perry from Journey. Once I heard Perry say that, I couldn't help but hear it in every Perry song.

  • @burpo Wow i did not know that??That is really cool i will never listen to Journey in the same way again..Thankyou and i wish nothing but happiness and health to you and your family:)

  • @burpo Ironically enough, they both have the same birthday as well... January 22nd

  • @burpo I never knew that regarding Steve Perry but, I can certainly hear it now. I know little about Journey. I'll have to listen to more of their music. I remember when Sam died. He would have made so much more an impact on music if he had lived. It seems all the great ones have short lives.

  • Sam was inspired to write 'A Change is Gonna Come' after being inspired by the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Rights movement after the drowning death of his 2 year old son. He certainly felt this song.

  • I luv his voice

  • R.I.P. Troy Davis

  • I feel like he came back to life just by playing this song and I can feel his pain. Sam Cooke's music is a gift and I'm honored to be able to listen to it. This is classic!!!!

  • VERY NICE.....

  • Nooooobody knows the troubless i've seeeennn

    NOOOObody knows my sorrowww

Oh Zazu do lighten up (Throws bone at Zazu)

    -Lion King

  • @SunnyandSky yeah it is from the lion king :) but i think the version from the lion king is from louis armstrong another king :)

  • @ewauvwas Yea he sings it to..I know its a old negro spiritual..It has alot of meanings..Look up old spirituals..I am sure youll find other great singers singing this song..Peaceout and godspeed=)

  • @SunnyandSky

Yes that is the Lion King. An animation made primarily for children.

Sam Cooke sings about real life.

  • Sam Cooke proves that gospel transcends religion.

  • @biglimes yea i agree he's now singing in gods choir..knowing sams voice he probly gets most of the solos in heaven...peace to you and god bless every one.

  • so he originally wrote this great gospel song!

  • 16 people are going to hell

  • i like how he changed "my jesus" to "my sorrow". genius.

  • @wideosvatcher do you like glory hallelujah

  • first time i heard this was on a saturday morning watching RECESS.

  • people who respond to hatred of my people with the same thing is no better than the ones who inflicted all that pain on my people. There is enuf hatred in the world to go around a thousand times fold, dont feed into it my brothers and sisters no matter what color you are.

  • Sam Cooke was one of a kind, his music will always live on no matter how old you are!

  • yuck

  • WOW ......... this is the first tym i have heard this song .. and it is FUKIN amazing

  • fuckin legend

  • This is an old Spiritual going back to days of slavery. May be sung as warning to escaping slaves hiding nearby. Also Steal Away another Cooke classic. No one knows who actually wrote these. Spirituals began in the 1600’s and continued till Emancipation in 1800's as spontaneous creations, sometimes containing coded references to the Underground Railroad, sometimes passing on news or information, and always as a way to resist enslavement.

  • @TamarZucker

how did they know what they meant though? do you suppose there was that one guy who didn't "get the message" and was like "oh that guy likes to sing alot...Hmmmmm whatever"

  • @TamarZucker Some great putdowns too, like the line about the Christian slave master: "Not everyone talking is going there" (variously titled, "Heaven, Heaven," "I Got Shoes," etc.). I do disagree that Spirituals ceased about 1800. I'd guess they continued way into the modern era. "Go Tell It On the Mountain" was a recently discovered Spiritual, now usually sung as a X'mas Carol. This is stretching it of course but "A Change Is Gonna Come" might almost be classed among the great Spirituals!

  • @TamarZucker Yeah...right....sure. You have a one track mind it seems. Sad.

  • sesly. <3 ( ; _ ; )

this would be one of my funeral songs

  • Thank you for the beautiful song. It is very beautiful. It's a gem!

  • As my Mother put it to me "trouble only lasts for a little while" but it may feel like a life time when you in the midst of it. I pray for continuous blessings and strength for us all.

  • *** So good!

  • I like his falsetto at the end.

  • he is the brother of my french teacher :P

  • 13 people are fools

  • @MrDmensah1 ...15!

  • 13 people don't know the trouble Sam's seen. They don't know his sorrow.

  • I can't count the number of nights I fell asleep to this song.... Cooke soothes my soul.

  • Get outta here!!! This is the song that Zazu sings in the Lion King when Scar has him locked up in a cage! LOL!!! Awesome!!!

  • None of the artist singing today put together will ever be able to produce soulful music like this again.

  • One of the best Gospel songs I ever Heard

  • everytime i hear his voice i get goosebumps n tears in my eyes...his soul is inside me

  • @Mrontherun09 you have a very sweet soul in that case! :)

  • great song. Listen to it all the time.

    Keep the Peace

  • sheldon > Music.

  • Never have I heard this song done better.

  • I think he has the best tenor voice period. Hands down. No contest. Others have more range and can hit higher notes, but something about sam's voice alone is hypnotic and creates a bar that lacks comparison. In this song, it's sad and a bit raspy, but still soft and sweet. Like he's down, but not out for the count. I'm sad, but I have faith that I'll be ok in the long run. Only one Sam Cooke.

  • @indure08 I couldnt agree more. I'd say otis redding puts up a fight, but there really are very few voices in the world that i love more

  • Sounds better with theremin

  • I like tha Sheldon version more

  • yeah emmelby , its bizarre, music can turn you around like nothing else can...and sam sure can!! hope your fine!!

  • sheldon sings better!!

  • @unam112 I dunno who sheldon is but theres no way in sweet hell he sings anything better than Sam Cooke teh G0d.

  • @summersrw chill dude...i was jokin`...check out the big bang theory and u will see what i was talking about...big up!

  • sheldon sent me from the big bang theory :)

  • Nice to know that are 13 XXXXXXX in the world -_- ''

  • He was a musical GENIUS

  • Great song, great album, great artist. Thanks for posting!

  • maravillosa vozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • god knows our troubles

  • Stupenda!!!

  • I love Cooke's version; it reminds me of the times of my miserable past life yet still makes me realize that I am somebody in the eye's of others and that I have to keep pushing myself, everyday.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this. =)

  • The trouble are eternal, universal and still here.

Recognize each others troubles, see that everyone has sorrows.

It's hard sometimes, but... we can see and help each other still.

Our humanity is what saves us.

Try courtesy (a "thank-you sir!") or an occasional gentle kindness. ("Can I see you over the road Ma'am?"

    ETc., etc.

From small acorns the greatest of oaks grow tall.

Love to all. Engage that vital organ between your ears and hear your heart go thumpthumpthump exhiliratingly... x

  • I love Sam!

  • Merry Christmas everybody and a peaceful happy new year to all

  • If you want to be recognized, check out zoetri.com

  • @zoetri You give away free name-badges then?

  • @zoetri

"Deep, real deep you post to me.

Not really, but a fair response to such a posting.

Ehm, you push dubious and spiritually bankrupt nonsense. Just my opinion.

You try to appeal to the vulnerable wishing "recognition". By whom and for what?

I remain cynical of you and others like you. Justifiably. Your agendas and designs are unclear. Murky.

Do you propose anything constructive and positive or just misleading and ultimately expolitative manipulation of tender wannabes?

  • God Bless Sam.....

  • who actually disliked this song??

  • ETRADE BABY: NOBODY KNOWS!!!! hilarious!!! Lmfao

  • Wonderful rendition.

    Renee

  • Only the Lord knows

  • Sam's Night Beat album pretty much saved my life, every night, for about 2 of my years of active addiction. His voice gets into my bloodstream, fizzes around my nervous system, and has a far greater impact on me than any drug ever did, but in a good way. Just beautiful.

  • @emmelby Loved your comment and honesty.

  • @emmelby yah the power of addiction can so be turned around to another force.. I hear ya.. been there 29years alchohol and drug free. all the highs Ive exp? the best high of them all? not being high. damn that feels good...

  • @sharemysoul1 29 years? Wow! I'm only 32 so I can't even begin to comprehend that, lol. Awesome stuff man.

  • @emmelby I get it...I feel the same way about Steve Perry, long before I had a clue who he was. Sam cooke was his hero...and made the music breathe.

  • @emmelby wierd

  • i LOVE you Sam Cooke. r.i.p

  • I'm no expert. But I figure if someone puts Sam Cooke's "Night Beat" on the turntable, they're about to get laid

  • @Pickwickmusic Got me laid!

  • @Pickwickmusic nice call!

  • Amen!!!

  • I know i might be in the wrong place but i am personally an atheist, yet i believe this music still moves me just as much as anyone else. Just wondering if i was the only one.

  • @t3nnisballa nope im an atheist and this music is more than just about god. i cant stand religion but i understand its about the human condition and struggle and wanting relief. i love sam cooke and i love this song. :)
