I have been visiting Whangamata all my life at our family holiday home several times a year and my family has been doing so since the 70's. I think it's a great thing and is something that needs to be built with the progression and growth of the town. We can keep it the unique, beautiful place it is too. Go the marina and get rid of all of the boy racers I say.
I'm of Ngati Pu descent and I totally oppose the Marina. What is going to happen to the Kiwi way of life when the rich hold monopoly over our traditional holiday spots. Short sighted greed. Development?? Whangamata was never meant to be like the Gold Coast.
Been there since the marina was built?
Harbour look tidier - less boats choking the main channel - slipway out.
The Marina itself is a compliment to all involved.
No affect so far on any of the issues of huge concern - let us hope it remains that way and everybody wins.

I totally agree with you, if they want to bring there big boats to the coast, go somewhere like whitianga or pauinui. NOT WHAGAMATA!!

How about sending a diver in there wiyth a camera, and uploading the vid? I have no practical reason for that. I just think it might be interesting.
