@buzzzatho They had rain tyres back then, they don't have TCS today and F1 today is certainly no walk in the park. Everyone would be doing it otherwise.
@oR3LENTLE55o Senna was famous for driving in slick tyres even under rain and for the oldschool drivers, f1 today is no walk in the park, is a walk in his front lawn...
@oR3LENTLE55o First i did not have any rich parents to support me while i just race when i was a kid, second f1 today takes nearly one third of talent they needed back then and if you cant see that you are the "fucking idiot"...
@buzzzatho F1 today takes just as much talent. The cars are going through the corners a lot faster and driver reaction times need to be twice as fast. If you honestly think todays drivers aren't as talented then you are an idiot stuck in the past.
@buzzzatho They wouldn't be as fast obviously... It's impossible to manually shift as fast as their paddle shifters do. But they would still be pretty damn quick. They aren't idiots. They are just as fast, if not faster, as the old legends.
I was in sorrow for long time, He was my idol; but now he is racing for God. We will remember you for ever Arton Senna !!CHAMPION!! We are South Americans Lovers
If this race had happened today nobody would have seen Senna's genius because the useless race directers would have just brought the safety car out. And then stopped the race early because of the rain.
BRAZILIAN PILOT WHO HAS TALENT, ON THE RUN OF RAIN WITH THE GRACE OF GOD, THAT TIME IN THE TECHNOLOGY WAS NOT A HUGE RISK OF ALLIED TO RUN IN CARS AND SKIING WITHOUT INFRASTRUCTURE
@kshiryu true, but in F1? i can name a hundred americans who raced in the american indy car.......the point is, did u see the last comments? thats why i posted that.....lol
@Fernandohv45 I named two. MARIO ANDRETTI, F1 world champion 1978, PHIL HILL, F1 world champion 1961. Granted both were before Senna's time. and just before my time as well. I was born in 75, I grew up watching Senna race. As well as all all types of motor sport including F1, WRC, NASCAR, IRL, CART, WEC, BTCC, ALMS.
ok regardless of the cars handling and performance traits, think about this for a second, if senna hit a wall head on at 200+kms it would kill him, because the cockpit is soo close to the nose of the car, think about that for a second then imagine driving that car at between 100 and 330 - 340 kmph constantly for at least 1 and a half hours! that in itself is respect worthy!
This was his first GP win. It was in Portugal at the Estoril track. He almost won 1 year earlier in Monaco but the race was interrupted when he was about to pass Alan Prost with a crappy car. "Too much rain" they said when the race was interrupted. There wasn't too much rain for Ayrton Senna.
well.......... that was fantastic! you can see how far in the lead he is in these conditions and he still pushes the car to the absolute maximum! the man was a legend!
You can see how smoothly he puts the throttle in, and then a bit down the road when he makes it to full throttle, it gets a bit twitch, 200 metres past the corner.
@oR3LENTLE55o They are 50% drivers now. Maybe 25% - still much better than non-racing drivers which are 1% drivers - but nothing compared to the 85 - 92 Gods!
@oR3LENTLE55o um... i have a degree in Science (math and physics) - and i raced karts and Formula Ford for nearly 10 years - trust me I'm an expert - i know it all!
@BiggerThinking1 Sarcastic about what? Its a FACT that F1 was 3 to 4 times harder in 1985 - 1992 than the videogame cars of today. Only 100 guys in the world could handle an F1 car back then - now 10,ooo gokarters could be on the pace within a week of practice.
When Senna died I stopped watching F1 ..... and I loved watching F1 !

"It's the Brazilian Ayrton Senna for the first time in a leadership formula," I confess that this last speech of Galvão Bueno gave lump in my throat.
