Young boys some 14+ joined the british empire all over the world it was seen as an adventure most had never left the country war was seen as a game that would be over soon and they would win and have a great time they didnt have a clue what they were getting themselfs into they joined the war boys/normal people they got off the boats at france and had to become MEN! They watched there friends slaughtered knowing they faced the same fait they done there duty they were very brave R.I.P
I have a great Photostory on my page...CHECK IT OUT....Its on World WAR One, the Great WAR, check it out....Its also about Germany during it all (the War)
I don't see why people don't think the great war was as important as ww2. It has a great story behind it. An archduke be assassinated, starting a whole world war.
And the military-industrial complex will be overjoyed. More saps positioned to be 'true-believers' in the romance of killing other people cold-heartedly to prove one's er, 'manhood'. The stockholders are DAZZLED.
@Briselance I didn't say they had any other choice, but thanks for commenting to someone, who you didn't bother reading there comment, or you just skimmed through it.
@frostythesn0wman Many who went into the trenches didn't keep their sanity, of course. It was a nightmare that even a hundred years of further horrors have not erased from the world's mind.
@elvetankage These men were most certainly brave.... The governments used brainwashing sensationalism, posters set up everywhere detailing the excitments and adventures of war...like it was a game. They were so emotionally charged with patriotism and the supposed exotic excitment of war that the fact that they may die seemed impossible. Most soldiers beleived the war would have been over by christmas.People these days have a choice, which i respect. People who dont go to war are not cowards.
we shal never forget thoes brave men "we dont not no of war and the grate saqefice stode upon them" and im glad that my children will never fight in a war like that ever again
these men was of a world that we dont have today and that honor was not stode upon them but they lived with it each day when the war ended every one who forght inthe war was equal andit made simple men of the poor honored and humbeld
yes! it's very brave to stop thinking and just follow commands. and its brave to kill civilians for mineral resources.
damn how i hate words like "brave", "honour", "pride"....

Yet another war based on lies. The dead died in vain. Truly sad.

Wow those men were brave, I don't know if I could keep my sanity if I was in a trench filled with mud, and the dead with the cold everywhere.

@frostythesn0wman
If think they were also men who had barely any other choice than getting in the front-line trenches.
Unless you were a qualified worker in an ammo factory or something like that, you could be sure you'd get sent in the front-lines.
