  • Should've taken into consideration of the design the wildlife preservation (using nets and similar access-restraining hardware.

  • isn't it also called ocean thermal energy?

  • doing electrolysis under water will result in passing electric current through fish as well , harming the envirment. good idea but not feasiable

  • to ENTERPRISE FLORIDA,Iam an inventor and design of renewable energy, with out using uranium, coal, oil, wind, solar, water, for energy in my prototypes I do recycle chemical and I use gravity. I can power from a house to whatever you want.as you see we are in the same line of passion.my problem is how to put my invention into practice,I do not own a company.I am just one man, I would like to offer my skills.to the enterprise Florida.I hope you can help me. alanmax44c@hotmail.com inventor lookingfjob

  • I don't see it happening. Not with a republican governor...

  • Tidal power ~ the way to go & be Energy free ~

  • Thank you. I know we already have so much technology to accomplish world

energy balance. As soon as we all get on board, I believe it will happen

    quickly.

  • is that a pyramid on land?

  • fuck that, screw solar, wind, biomass, and wave energy, why don't we just invest all our effort in figuring out fusion energy, it provides infinite energy, there's no pollution or radioactive waste, and a bathtub of water can power a whole country for a month

  • Won't this totally fuck up a LOT of habitat for sea life???

  • Lets pay the scientists instead of the CEOs,,, FIRST

  • no we need coal and oil and we need to gas ourselves off withe them

  • I love contemplating the future. Sometimes our ideas come true...

  • wow what a fancy graphic of another energy soution that will never happen.

  • @nalm2025 LOL

  • Probably they should be investigating new ways to save energy before they spend vast amounts of money. A case in point is that in 2005 the Government, Market Transformation Program had tests made on a new type of cleaner that employs Air Recycling Technology. The results show that it could save 1.5 Terawatt (1,500 Gigawatt) each year in the UK alone. Simply by changing the type of cleaner we use in our homes. It was originally designed to remove health hazards inherent in the vacuum cleaner.

  • is like praying, repeat over and over again , and when milions or bilions of people start doing the same it will be real.

  • dont polute the ocean with junk, please if you want to put something there respect the sea and the creatures that live there if not is just the same industrial era thinking, we can take without puting back.

  • honestly i dont think that people will listen to just by reading this comment, i fully agree with you but you know....

  • this video is awesome and the information comes in handy but i have one other question... What is the safety in operating the turbines or barrages?.... I am doing a project and I cannot find that information anywhere, so if you do have info on that then please please please replay back on this comment! Thanks! :)

  • Wouldn't pumping warm surface water to the depths take as much energy as you could get from neutralizing it?

  • cool man this is the furture and hydro-powerd world

  • Comment removed

  • I think the cages would kill more fish than the turbines

  • turbine can be tune to move slower

  • how many times did you practise this?

  • nikola tesla talked of this 100 yrs ago! look up "increaseing human energy"by nikola tesla! he talks of all of the renewable energy sources and also his wireless energy transfer system which would give wireless power to everyone on the earth! i even did a 20 ft wireless energy transfer which is key to showing how his system works!

  • @boxa888 That's cool! They should use that to beam energy down to earth from space solar panels!

  • hola

  • Some ideas just stay in the papers for ages! Ask DaVinci :)

  • Those impellers dont seem appropriated for underwater use. By design they create unnecessary drag and strain. I think a better design would use a much longer impeller hub with the blades having a long base. Complete the opposite of what we see now. Now we see a long blade with a small base hooked up to a small hub. I was imagining something more like a corkscrew type blade. It could even be encased in a cylinder which would create more directional stability and protection for marine life.

  • Now all you have to do is BUILD IT and prove your theory!

  • I like the concept of the anchored current turbines.

the problem is you have to use controls to adjust the depth, so the blade won't touch bottom.

with that system you can easily bring the turbine to the surface for maintenance.

I bet ocean thermal energy conversion tech will never be economically feasible: the temperature difference is very low, so the efficiency is very, very low, and the amount of water you have to "process" is very high

  • ya but as if a fish is that dumb maybe a gold fish because they have a memory of 3.17 seconds but not other fish

  • thats tight thats tight

  • Looks good, but just a piece of advice the narration of the video comes off as really unprofessional. Not sure who you guys are, or if you serious or not, but if you are get this done up proper. People are watching this, and it's a representation of who you are.

  • Couldn't you have encouraged them a bit?

  • Its done by a school hence the ".edu" domain idiot. Not all proposals will be "Corporate America" type presentations

  • This may just work, except for the fact that we would have massive marine life death if we were to actually place turbines underwater. Take wind turbines for example, they kill many birds of pray everyday. Imagine what this would do to the fish population alone. This is a fantasy for the most part.

  • Since the density of water is so much greater than air the blades will not have the same high rpm. Also the "wings" är shorter and designed shorter which will allow the tip speed of the blade/wing to be acceptable for marin life.

  • this is absolute fantasy....why dont we use nuclear instead?

  • this is great! would there have to be security for these types of technologies? we do not want sabotage or "terrorists" messing up these things once they are in place. Also, we don't want any shipping/boating accidents.

  • since when are you "we"? This is an idea for the world not just one country, although some can take advantage of it and use it wisly. but the point is you are not "we".

  • well...I am glad "we" could have this discussion. More than one person involved in the same endeavors. It is pretty general of me to use the word we, but "we are the world..we are the children.." When a technology like this comes around, its not going to be handed out to you. You will have to secure it for your city. That means forming politico-networking groups. Once you have this technology, it will require security. I will not be able to do all of this myself. How about you? How about us?

  • A previous comment had asked "How do you plan to keep from chopping up fish and plant life with the gen blades?"

The Director of the Center for Excellence in Ocean Energy Technology talks to NPR about that very concern. You can listen using the link below, if you replace the (dot) with (.) YouTube won't let me include the live link. Eflorida(dot)com/innovationcenter(dot)aspx?id=6704

  • okay but also it does not have to be "blades"

In a liquid medium of you had something even shaped like a corkscrew it would work too.

Terrorism would be one of my concerns though. How to guard against it.

  • Arrest all suspicous Marine Life.

  • the hydrogen stuff. just drop it. it is not cost effective.

  • @EnterpriseFlorida You can add the link to the description.

    Nice video.

  • @EnterpriseFlorida b p already killed them

  • Who is "we" in the comment "we will power the whole world"?

I like the hydrogen under pressure thingy.

    Cool animation.
