Shut the fuck up with the Opie bashing; he's the reason Ant isn't still installing HVAC. Back in '95, Ant's brother Joe stood in the alley behind WBAB's studio for two hours just to give Opie Ant's demo tape. That's right, don't let his little Stern appearance fool you; Ant was a total nobody before he met Opie.
Had they not met, Opie today would probably be at WBAB spinning Lady Gaga CDs for 75k a year, but Ant would still be making $15/hr. You can't argue that difference. Ope fucking rules.
I've had a couple big fights with friends that were very similar to this one, lasting just as long and getting just as heated. You all can say that O&A have since patched things up, but trust me: they didn't. Fights like these linger after, and the topics often are very personal. Some of the shit they said shouldn't have gone unspoken for so long, its not healthy. Shit like this turned some of my best friends into strangers just like THAT, and I'm pretty sure too O&A haven't been friends since.

After listening to the show for a few years I think that Opie is the most self-conscious person. He has to interject himself into everything that they are talking about. When he is interviewing people he'll start his question with something like "I'ma huge fan of that.." or something else to do with himself instead of just asking interesting question. He also always overexplains what he is talking about and has to redundantly make sure everyone knows what he means
I'm also sick of the argument that "Opie runs the show" and that opie keeps the show moving. When he's not there bottom line it's better. They could get someone else to help run the show who is funnier and better. I hate the way his voice gets all high pitched when he's backed into a corner.

Look, I know most people have not heard Anthony's "live from the compound" online show. A caller called up the show and asked Anthony is that was really real. Anthony gave a nice chuckle and said that it was not. He said the last thing they would ever do is argue about yogart or any kind of food. It was fake, it is what it is.
During their last run on free radio, I tried many times to get into the show. Every time, I heard Opie bitching that he hated it and wanted to do the walkover. It was a huge turn-off. If they didn't wanna be there, then why should I listen, ya know?

@Phatphal Stern is a mere 5 yrs older than Anthony. However, he's been around alot longer. They both appeal to the exact same demographic 18-34/34-50 yr old white middle class males. Anthony is 51 and Opie is 48. They from the same generation as Stern and make the same cultural references. I listen to both of them and sometimes they're great whereas other times they're lame as hell. This corny "feud" is simply hype that fuels both their careers. Opie adds something to the show...no doubt about it. But the thing is....any one of a million people could do that job. The difference is Opie is insecure about his role and he lets it affect the true talent on the show, Jimmy and Ant. So he either tries to assert himself with...akward situations like this....or making stupid jokes and just repeating them and yelling over, again, the true talent. If Anthony leaves, Jimmy goes with and Opie fails....thats how it works
People who don't like Opie for not being as funny don't respect balance and control of a show. Nothing wrong with that, but Opie happens to be my favorite just for his control of each show.
Now that this fight is over I think the show is actually stronger than ever, Opie isn't the funny comedy guy really but I think he's extremely important to the show, even if it could be done without him it just wouldn't be the same.
Because Opie isn't a full comedian his value is much harder to notice on a superficial level. Apparently he has a temper and Ant was right that he was just pissed off in this, but I think they definitely got over it.

Anthony thinks he is white. Someone should tell him that he is Indo-European, of Mediterranean stock, and looks like a Latin American. @djkinetic1 What makes you hate the show so much? I love O&A and I've heard what they've said about Howard, but I would never bash the show so vehemently like you're doing. I haven't heard HooHoo, but considering I don't proclaim that O&A are so much better than them it's unnecessary. People have different tastes in humor, there's no reason to rant about a show when you can just not listen to it.

@Phatphal Stern is a mere 5 yrs older than Anthony. However, he's been around alot longer. They both appeal to the exact same demographic 18-34/34-50 yr old white middle class males. Anthony is 51 and Opie is 48. They from the same generation as Stern and make the same cultural references. I listen to both of them and sometimes they're great whereas other times they're lame as hell. This corny "feud" is simply hype that fuels both their careers. You must be pretty naive to take it seriously

Opie adds something to the show...no doubt about it. But the thing is....any one of a million people could do that job. The difference is Opie is insecure about his role and he lets it affect the true talent on the show, Jimmy and Ant. So he either tries to assert himself with...akward situations like this....or making stupid jokes and just repeating them and yelling over, again, the true talent. If Anthony leaves, Jimmy goes with and Opie fails....thats how it works

Now that this fight is over I think the show is actually stronger than ever, Opie isn't the funny comedy guy really but I think he's extremely important to the show, even if it could be done without him it just wouldn't be the same.
Because Opie isn't a full comedian his value is much harder to notice on a superficial level. Apparently he has a temper and Ant was right that he was just pissed off in this, but I think they definitely got over it.

Some people just don't understand radio. If you have listened to shows where it has just been Ant and Jimmy, they have been poor, they have no direction and arn't as smooth as they are when Opie is in.
Despite Opie not being the funniest on the show, he gives the show direction, without him, the show would not as be as good as it is.

Listen to the show carefully when either of them is out. Definitely upsets the dynamic. Opie steers the show, Anthony makes the show unpredictable, Jimmy makes it really dirty and further unpredictable yet hilarious and edgy. Beats Howard any day... Howard is so toned down in the past few years, it's a wonder why he needed to go to Sirius/XM to "free himself". O&A rule!!!

Yes, and Its very funny. I laugh at it as does everyone, except for uptight assholes. I don't think hes racist either. Prejudice maybe, in the sense he lumps all of them together, in a comical way. I like Opie, but he was pretty fucking stupid to start talking about leaving because he's good as the straight man with occasional bursts of hilarity, whereas Ant could have a successful show on his own that was hilarious.
Opie is funny, not consistently, but he has some awesome moments, probably made more awesome by the fact that they are rare.
