I love Lake Powell!! I go every year! noticed that you guys went to clear creek, that is awesome! now since the water has gone up so much, your boat can reach where the ladder used to be! i am very disapointed in one thing that I discovered last week.
the indian ruins where it is more difficult to hike is closed forever a ranger said. Some idiots decided to take wood from the cage thingy and make fire wood.
Glenn Canyon WAS one of the most beautiful canyons in the US until some government bureaucrat thought putting a dam in it was a good idea. Hopefully, the dam will be decommissioned in the near future and we can get the river and canyon back to at least a reasonable level. It would be nice to see that damn dam gone though.
@Postie218 - It was one of the prettiest places NO ONE ever went to or heard of. Do you favor telling everyone in Las Vegas to pack up and move then? No Lake Powell, no Lake Mead (or Havasu). No Lake Mead, no Las Vegas. There's also 50 years worth of sediment (also known as STINKY MUD) on the bottom of that reservoir. Think with your brain, not your emotions. And the 'bureaucrat' in question was President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
@SLCBronco Sorry, but at your age, you wouldn't know about the canyon before it was dammed up. Am I in favor of Las Vegas packing up, yea, that would be a good idea. Seriously, there was no reason to create such huge reservoirs behind the dams, any dam for that matter. You could have had more than enough electricity with smaller weir dams and direct fall turbines. Think with YOUR brain, unless you know the area and the mess the dams created, you know zip The river doesn't even reach the sea now
@Postie218 You can quit with the patronizing 'you're not old enough' BS right now. A 12 yr old could understand this. You don't. That's a 'you' problem, not mine. It's not about electricity. It's about water. Do you seriously think they are going to abandon one of the largest cities in the southwest to make a canyon pretty again? Good luck with that. It was stupid to build Las Vegas to the level it is today, but that's history. All I'm saying is, think logically and live in the now.
@SLCBronco Too bad chum, but you are not old enough to know about Glenn Canyon. Whether you think it's patronizing or not is not my problem. My comment was a look forward, technology changes and do environmental attitudes. My comment about LV is of course hypothetical, a six year old would know that. I suggest you read the original for what it was, and not get your panties in a wad over comments on subjects you really know nothing about, and as it seems don't care. I'm done, you bore me.
@Postie218 "Am I in favor of Las Vegas packing up, yea, that would be a good idea." Don't blame me for commenting on you're ridiculous, not-gonna-happen theories. You made em' public, not me. You can pretend you're bored all you want if it helps you save face (I love that duck and run technique in a debate). You sure do make a lot of assumptions about what I know or don't know, and you know what they say about assumptions.....You're right about one thing though, this IS boring. lol
@lesdoyle2000 Hey Postie, I wouldn't put too much weight onto what this little pissant has to say. This little shit posted on another video that all soldiers are stupid. Careful who you listen to. I thought we were having a pretty good debate (albeit a heated one, but so what?) If you think what I'm doing is trolling then frankly, you are completely lost. You two retards have a good one.
What canyon are you exploring at ~4 mins? Or what part of the lake is it? If you have move video of you driving up that canyon, I would love to see it..
Thanks for posting! I have been going to Lake Powell since 1975 and there is NO place like it..
