It's kind of funny. Part 1 introduces one of the strongest men in the whole entire manga. Kishimoto had guts for that, but imagine if Pain's invasion came 3 years early. Well, let's not think about that.

@CoolCat123450 Actually had it come at the same time during the Final Battles of the Chuunin Exams,Konoha would've had a better chance. They would have Jiraiya,Orochimaru,Hiruzen,Kak­ashi,Gai,Sand Village Ninjas and Sound Village Ninjas aswell helping. More man power than when Pain actually attacked. I say Orochimaru would've helped Konoha because Pain wants him dead,Orochimaru despises Akatsuki and Orochimaru would only want himself to destroy Konoha,not Pain.
