Recently I read an article on how the boy, and his family beat villagers for disturbing his meditation. While in my point I do understand what he is trying to achieve here, It seems that if his conviction were true and well understood, the people distrubing him would not have been beaten, and he would not have minded them there at all, and continued on without the use of violence. If being enlighten means no desire whatsoever, and mediating means acting like your somewhat dead if superpower was to go without food, I would rather pass. Desire can be good thing, for example the desire to help others. It is more of when we do not proper balance our desires and passions. One has to cultivate right desires.
You can still have desires if your enlightened; just don't overindulge on anything because then that good desire can turn bad. Meditating isn't acting like you're dead, its reaching deep into your own psyche, observing your thoughts, etc.
mediation is a way to find peace in oneself. even though some may say so, it is not the way to peace for everyone. everybody has his own peace. Some find it in meditation, others in fun. One can think that "evil" desires should be forgotten, or forbidden, others may think that without evil, there is no good. There is no right or wrong way to be at peace. what matters is to be at peace.

Greed usually is define as a want for a physical material. For example, money and materials. Lust usually is define as a want for beauty. A desire for sexual gratification. Greed is already so hard to escape in daily life and Lust is even harder now a day haha. Take a look around you, every where you go there are explicit images of men and woman. How can you escape Lust without a concentrated mind state from meditation?
I agree with your description of the conditions of our society, and I agree that all negative states of mind require a meditative clarity to escape from. But I do not understand WHY it is that lust is one of these states. Why is a desire for sexual gratification a negative state of mind?
You have to decide whether it is positive or negative base on the person. For instance, for those who wants and aim for liberation from worldly bond, then lust is a negative mind state that will bring forth the bonding karma from speeches and actions. Like from lust, you go out and have sexual intercourse. The karma result is a wife, or contacting a disease, and or a child. That is worldly bonding, which is also suffering.
Learning and practicing virtues (examples: practice love and compassion by cessation of harming killing sentient beings (other humans, animals, plants, inanimate objects), after the cessation, there's a practice of stop eating meat (ground and sea animals), not like how other religons INDULGE themselves in pleasure by eating meat, saying that "God" created all animals for people to consume and enjoy. You know why Buddhism doesn't teach that? It's because that would stop the mind state of Love
they help purify the mind and consciousness. When purified, thus achieving calmness, it will then help meditation. Meditation will liberate the mind and consciousness (or consciousness evolving to a state that is similiar to the state salvation explained in the religous text). He couldnt be the reincarnation of the buddha because if the buddha achieved nirvana (Parinirvana) then he was released from the cycle of death and rebirth. Gautama Buddha himself taught this.
Like oxPixelKidxo said, he can't be 'Buddha Shakyamuni' because he already vanish into Pari-nirvana at death 2500+ years ago. The word "Buddha" doesn't always have to refer to 'Buddha Shakyamuni'. Even he said there were other fully enlightened 'Buddhas' before him and there will be ones after his death. If this boy is truely a "Buddha" then he is not "Buddha Shakyamuni." But another person who is achieves the same state of enlightenment like many other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
The Buddha realized that fasting wasn't the way to enlightenment and taught us "the middle way". The boy should have stayed in the monastery and study more Dharma. He has a potential to become a Bhodisattva but instead he wants to be a Yogi and starts his own religion. There can only be one Buddha at a time and the next Buddha will emerge when this civilization has ended and Buddhism has been long forgotten. Recently I read an article on how the boy, and his family beat villagers for disturbing his meditation. While in my point I do understand what he is trying to achieve here, It seems that if his conviction were true and well understood, the people distrubing him would not have been beaten, and he would not have minded them there at all, and continued on without the use of violence. Buddhahood for him is far off if this is how he behaved.

I am Buddhist. I do not think Ram is a reincarnation of Shakyamuni, the historical Buddha. Shakyamuni is dead. However, the Enlightenment of Shakyamuni is beyond time and space, and in this sense, Rom is able to achieve the state of Shakyamuni Buddha, in fact we all can... But, Enlightenment is not achieved by extreme meditation only. It is about a "Middle Path" or not becoming too extreme in anything we conceive.

In the Moha-Buddha's tale, there was a naked woman danced close next to him trying to stop Buddha. It is easy for that boy becuase his people stop anyone getting close to him. If he wants to be like Buddha, he must let people getting close to him, especially naked women :). I believe that he ate during nite. Becaue Infared Camara did not pick up any heat. Think like this becasue there was a monk meditating till wet cloth turns dry and people could see the steam.

Buddha or not you have to appreciate what this boy is trying to do. With the food or without he has obviously achieved high level of meditation which is remarkable by itself. I am not Buddhist, but I understand him. There is no point for you to fight or talk about his ways of doing things. Right or wrong it's what he wants and believes in. Buddha is a title, my friend, like Christ, he is not the same Gautama reborn, as Jesus won't reborn as well. He is another Buddha, as like as he could be another Christ. The Consciousness is one and same, only the soul is another one. God is one, all names and forms are His names and His forms. Dettachment, "killing the ego", it reveals the real Self we are, the Buddha we are, and that's what this guy is doing - realizing the Self, his true nature, then he's already helping to save the Universe.

Desire can be good thing, for example the desire to help others. It is more of when we do not proper balance our desires and passions. One has to cultivate right desires.

You can still have desires if your enlightened; just don't overindulge on anything because then that good desire can turn bad. Meditating isn't acting like you're dead, its reaching deep into your own psyche, observing your thoughts, etc.

mediation is a way to find peace in oneself. even though some may say so, it is not the way to peace for everyone. everybody has his own peace. Some find it in meditation, others in fun. One can think that "evil" desires should be forgotten, or forbidden, others may think that without evil, there is no good. There is no right or wrong way to be at peace. what matters is to be at peace.

Buddha Shakyamuni who developed Buddhism (Buddhas, the Dharma, Monks and Nuns) for the sole purpose to help those who want to achieve liberation. He didn't not teach that there is a God nor did he teach there ISN'T one (or creator or higher power). He only taught his follwers to un-tiringly &vigorously seek & persue enlightenment by their own effort. Greed usually is define as a want for a physical material. For example, money and materials. Lust usually is define as a want for beauty. A desire for sexual gratification. Greed is already so hard to escape in daily life and Lust is even harder now a day haha. Take a look around you, every where you go there are explicit images of men and woman. How can you escape Lust without a concentrated mind state from meditation?

For instance, for those who wants and aim for liberation from worldly bond, then lust is a negative mind state that will bring forth the bonding karma from speeches and actions. Like from lust, you go out and have sexual intercourse. The karma result is a wife, or contacting a disease, and or a child. That is worldly bonding, which is also suffering.

Learning and practicing virtues (examples: practice love and compassion by cessation of harming killing sentient beings (other humans, animals, plants, inanimate objects), after the cessation, there's a practice of stop eating meat (ground and sea animals), not like how other religons INDULGE themselves in pleasure by eating meat, saying that "God" created all animals for people to consume and enjoy. You know why Buddhism doesn't teach that? It's because that would stop the mind state of Love

prey to ego-arrogance or anger or hatred.
The third teaching that summed up his entire Dharma(the teaching that
delivers oneself from sufferings, ignorance and delusions. Note that it is
capitalized as oppose not being cap. the un-cap refers to reality(ies).
And the third teaching is, by practicing virtues such as in the top example,

they help purify the mind and consciousness. When purified, thus achieving calmness, it will then help meditation. Meditation will liberate the mind and consciousness (or consciousness evolving to a state that is similiar to the state salvation explained in the religous text). What I have just said is a vague explaination if Buddha's Shakyamuni's vast teachings. Those who want to learn and practice the vast library of the teachings of Buddha

you are tired of living day-to-day dissatisfied with Life, it is because
your mind is not yet liberated. NO ONE can help you besides yourself. Only
by own effort will you realize truth and achieve self-liberation. That's the summarization of his whole "truth finding" teachings; doesn't matter if there is a GOD or there isn't a GOD, you're on your own and no external power can help you. Wake up and find truth for yourself, don't give up. Peace and Love.

n its true what his brother said, of course i dont know if it's true , but why would he lie? if a babys born and on its 28th day his hair goes into the shape exactly like da buddhas , on its own and gets signs of the ''om'' ( buddha's sign )on his head , then that is not normal, its not a every day thing. n i truely believe that he is the reancarnation of BUDDHA

He couldnt be the reincarnation of the buddha because if the buddha achieved nirvana (Parinirvana) then he was released from the cycle of death and rebirth. Gautama Buddha himself taught this.

Like oxPixelKidxo said, he can't be 'Buddha Shakyamuni' because he already vanish into Pari-nirvana at death 2500+ years ago. The word "Buddha" doesn't always have to refer to 'Buddha Shakyamuni'. Even he said there were other fully enlightened 'Buddhas' before him and there will be ones after his death. If this boy is truely a "Buddha" then he is not "Buddha Shakyamuni." But another person who is achieves the same state of enlightenment like many other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

The Buddha realized that fasting wasn't the way to enlightenment and taught us "the middle way". The boy should have stayed in the monastery and study more Dharma. He has a potential to become a Bhodisattva but instead he wants to be a Yogi and starts his own religion. There can only be one Buddha at a time and the next Buddha will emerge when this civilization has ended and Buddhism has been long forgotten. It's sad to see those misguided Buddhist laypeople and monks came to worship the boy.

Hi, suprised to see much discussions here. Anyway there were many yogis in the Himalayas who could live for years without food, and stays in inactive state of inactivity. It's a science in Hindu and Buddhist spiritual practices.
Unfortunately, there are also many fakes around nowadays.

True...I wouldn't say this guy is a fake though, he sounds like a legit bodhisattva, if not already a Buddha- the dividing line is different for various sects.

that's your problem right there. You took what you said too seriously. Thus you suffer! you don't have to argue, just learn basic meditation and reduce your cortisol. And until you learn more about the inner working of the mind...you will know nothing and will have wasted your time here on earth.

ANd like i said, its easy for him to pull this off because he's constantly covered or taken away for long periods at a time! Do the research before commenting. His claims did get tested and in a short time, we lost interest and bounced. he's a fake. Meditate all u want, but the fact is ur body needs nourishment and no amount of meditation will keep u alive for long. and if he wanted privacy he could easily go indoors and meditate in private so as to not be bothered.

science has been proven wrong, of course it has. ThaTS THE NATURE OF SCIENCE! It a method of exploration and testing. WHen something gets proven wrong, its thrown out or fixed. It takes constant testing and evidence for anything to be taken as scientific fact. And the nepalese for easily deceived because of their strong desire to believe and thats fine. AS long as it doesn't cause harm. Believe what u want. But, its physically impossible to survive for months without food or water period.
